Voluminous Shag Haircut and Styling

Here is a mini breakdown of my haircut and hairstyling process from when I first got it cut with Ernesto Meneses last August. He is actually TEACHING this cut style October 21st 2024 at Sanctuary Salon in San Francisco so if you’re a stylist - now is your chance to learn from a master! In my opinion, Ernesto stands above the rest with his shags because he provides tons of crown volume without l...

My Top 5 Favorite Foundations (great for photos)
there is no way I’m cutting my own hair
@@JuliaDunn lol I wouldn’t cut my own either, I just snip of single dead ends, directly above the split, one at a time ☺️
thanks for this video! these are great tips, i have been having excessive shedding for awhile now and i might have androgenic alopecia but idk, i wanna see if my diet is the culprit lol, can i ask how often you wash ur hair a week? does ur hair get super oily since its super thick? i wanna also try your tip on cutting split ends myself, do you just cut each individual strand that is just a split end? do u cut straight across? how much before the split end do you cut? sorry for the excessive questions but you got me thinking :)again great video! liked!
@@princessaxel hi! I’m so glad that you enjoyed it! I wash my hair usually every 3 days because I feel like that’s when it’s asking to be washed. I can stretch it to a week if occasions call for it, but if I know I want to do that, I’ll put in my powdered dry shampoo as soon as my hair is completely dry (kind of to stop the oil before it starts). I don’t think it would be healthy for me to do this all the time, but if my hair is styled especially pretty, I will totally try to make it last for a week haha. I wouldn’t say my hair gets super oily but I do use more of a clarifying shampoo because it would get oily in a day if I used a ‘gentle cleansing’ one. And for the split ends, yes! When I spot one I just take that single strand and cut a little bit above it, basically keeping all of the length possible but making sure the break is gone so it doesn’t split further up my hair! And I do straight across because I’m cutting single strands versus a chunk of hair ☺️
Can you do a haircare routine?
@@naimaabubakar4596 I can put it on my list ☺️
Does the voloom cause heat damage? I imagine it's like a hot tool, right? Your hair is so thick and gorgeous! ❤
@@sarahgee6690 I’ve never experienced any! I imagine it’s the combination of only clamping for seconds (I clamp and almost immediately let go) and that you are only using it on the strongest, newest parts of your hair. So maybe the proximity of that hair to the oil on your scalp helps keep it damage free? But I haven’t noticed any ill effects so far and I’ve had it for over a year. I don’t use it every wash day, but I use it enough that if it was a curling iron on my ends, it would be damaged by now. I hope that helps! ♥️
@@nicolecudzilo Thank you for the info! I think my hair is too fragile for it. You mentioned being a makeup artist and I was wondering if you would be able to tell me if I am high contrast or medium contrast? ❤
@ hey Sarah! I’d guess that you are medium contrast ♥️
Next you may do high ponytail, Nicole!
Wow! This heatless style turned out beautifully. ❤
@@sarahgee6690 thank you! It’s my absolute favorite way! ♥️
Awesome tips all around, thank you
is Evolve your brand? I purchased the vitamins you suggested and your picture is on the website.
@@Chelseanichols347 haha no it’s not! I wish! I found them a few years ago after I was looking for a clean haircare line (multiple co-workers and other colleagues in the clean beauty industry recommended them to me). But I’ve been using them for a while and making content, so they asked if they could use my image on their site!
Woah. I want the exact thickness. U r hair is gorgeous.
🥰🥰🥰
Nothing works unless your genetics is on your side. Hair oil until the end of times, but if you have androgenetic alopecia or other things, you're probably already dead without seeing your potential hair goals.
@@dreamymami very true, I don’t have androgenetic alopecia or other serious hair issues, but I’d imagine that working with a dr or some sort of medical professional would be the best course of action for those that do. I’m just sharing what worked for me as someone who had very slow growth due to improper nutrients and breakage due to damage ♥️
How often do you wash your hair per week ?
@@MK-dj5vz it depends on how much I’ve prepped/styled it. For something prepped like this, I’d say every 3rd day. For something that I use heat tools to style or use texture sprays and dry shampoo for extra volume and movement, I’ll try to make it last for a week ☺️
مرحبا من فضلكي تعرفي على الاسلام واقرأي القرأن الكريم احسن كتاب انصحكي بي قرأته في حياتك كلها وشكرا
I also take Agent Nateur Holi (mane) and LivOn lypo-spheric vitamin C. I tried the msm powder from Agent Nateur a couple of times but it's just so pricey. I'll have to look into the one you suggested. Right now I'm taking msm from AOR. Sarah from Holistic Habits suggested that one in one of her videos many years ago.
@@sarahgee6690 I will look up the AOR one! Are you still taking / enjoying the silica capsules? I haven’t tried those before but I’m curious!
@@nicolecudzilo I finished them up and am taking a little break from them. I usually do that with hair, skin and nail supplements. Sometimes I wonder how much all of the supplements I take really do for me. Is it just genetics and a good diet that truly dictate our hair?
@ I totally get that! I think that both of those things are so huge for our hair health. I mostly love supplements and because I find it too difficult for me to get all of the nutrition I need from what I eat alone!
@@nicolecudzilo I understand. I definitely have to take iron because I'm deficient in it and meat alone isn't enough. Your hair is absolutely gorgeous! ❤
Please do a tutorial on the Heatless bath robe curls as a side sleeper 🙏
How long do you leave the pre oil treatment before you wash your hair ?
will do!
It depends, sometimes I'll let it sit for an hour but most times I'll just coast it and get in 10 minutes later. The oil is mostly acting as a barrier to the water/shampoo vs being super penetrative (to add extra moisture) to the hair shaft .
Just posted the Heatless Curls video for you ✨
@ ❤️❤️✨
yeeees please more info on your water filter/softener and on the better roots serum plzzzz! 🥹🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
@@marianav9655 great! I’ll put those on my filming list ♥️
Great hair! I’d love to see your wolf cut top heavy shaggy layers grown out longer and the fringe bang soften. Blunt cut the bottom straight across. I think your hair is so healthy at a long length, it could handle that and carry it very well.
@@memebrain100 haha thank you! The wolf cut layers on top are the only thing that helps keep the volume in my heavy hair, so those will always be staying. When the top layers get too long it really flattens out my overall haircut shape and doesn’t suit my face/bone structure anymore. But definitely working on thickening up the bottom a bit more!
Thank you for your video! I'm interested in adding more hydration to my ends as well. Could you link your hydration video? I'm not seeing it on your channel.
@@karenmortimore1852 hi Karen! It’s on my IG! I’ll try to send it to you over there ☺️
Your hair is lovely.
@@BionAvastar3000 thank you so much!
Wow, your hair is so thick and beautiful! I've been dealing with excessive shedding and I already have very thin hair to begin with. The scalp product you mentioned sounds interesting as you said it's not oily whatsoever. I can't put oils in my hair at all since it's so thin. Thank you for sharing! ❤
@@sarahgee6690 hey Sarah! Thanks so much for your comment! First off, I’ve been a fan of your video for a little while now, I find them so relaxing! Secondly, the serum is really, really nice and very lightweight / not an oil. I’ve used it on dry hair too but I prefer it on damp hair right after I get out of the shower so that it all dries nicely together!
@@nicolecudzilo Oh my gosh! Thank you so much, Nicole. I'm definitely going to look into that serum. I just subbed to your channel and look forward to seeing more hair related videos from you. ❤🤗
Awww the little Shiba inu ❤

Your hair. My hair.
Very authentic! Beautiful haircut 👍
Thank you so much!
I put together a mini look book for this @freddiesofpinewood halter top in Beige Paisley. It's 100% lightweight cotton so it's super breezy + comfortable and I know it will last wonderfully over the years. It has a solid neck construction but a tie back to offer some fit customization. It's the perfect length for high waisted shorts, skirts or jeans and doesn't get bunchy around the waist when tucked in. It comes in beige or mint paisley, but Freddies also has a ton of other fabrics in this same halter cut, including a dark denim one. I'm wearing a size 8 and my measurements (for your own shopping references are): Bust: 34b Waist: 24 Hip: 35 Height 5'8 Outfit 1 Freddies Buckleback Shorts (Size 24) Freddies Beige Paisley Halter (size 8) Tooled leather belt from @betterdayvintage Bandana @alexmillny Malaga Flats @remixvintageshoes Vintage Cowboy Hat @rubybegonias Freddies Norma Jacket (size S) Outfit 2 Freddies Beige Paisley Halter Top 1940s cowgirl set @avengersvintagelic Vintage Boots + Hat @rubybegonias Outfit 3 Freddies Beige Paisley Halter Top 1960s/70s Mexican Skirt @betterdayvintage 1940s tooled belt @betterdayvintage Boots ranchroadboots Half wig @annabelles_wigs

Your skin looks really natural and glowy.
Genius, why didn't I think of this. Now I'm off to scour your blog.xoxo
Love this video!!! Such an amazing tip Nicole thank you!!! 😍
beautiful. what is your reason for mixing nars sheer glow and mufe face and body? I have mufe face and body but sometimes wish I had just a bit more coverage but still look natural and not cakey does this mixture do that for you?
Try the mufe matte velvet foundation and a liquid highlighter by becca mixed together (oily skin)(I like to use the hourglass mineral veil primer and the mufe mattifying primer mixed together with this- but I think most silicone based primers would be okay) or too faced born this way & the primer she's talking about (dry skin). That's what I have been using for a while and it works great (I have combo skin- so some days im oily and some days im dry). I hope this helps or you find something better for you:)
Gracie :)
Beautiful! May I ask, what fan brush did you use to apply highlight?
+MiBellaAlma Hi there, unfortunately it is a no-name brand off amazon but the Make Up For Ever fan brush is super similar.
Stumbled on your channel & love your videos girl! New subbie :o)

Yay! You're back! Hope to see you make more videos
+sleepinblue41 Oh my goodness! You are too sweet, thank you very much :) I hope to make videos a regular part of my schedule this year!
In summers , it gets really really humid and hot here so if I go out for shoots , my skin as it is very oily in the t zone and chin , it shines and gets very oily , what would you recommend for this situation ? Also , how can I achieve a flawless airbrush like effect ?
Thanks. Really great !
Nicole...... you are STUNNING!!!! Are any of these foundations better (or worse) for oily/break-out prone skin???
Thank you so much! Most of these foundations are on the glowy side, so depending on how oily you get, they all might not work for you. The Face & Body is good for all skin types and the second best from this video would be the one by Becca. I would recommend checking out these foundation as they are better for your skin type and still do well in photos: Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet +, Urban Decay Naked Skin, Hourglass Immaculate. Look them up on Sephora.com so you can read about them :) Hope that helps :)
Nicole Cudzilo Thanks for all the great advice Nicole!!! I will be researching and shopping ASAP!!!
Melissa Erickson No problem! Let me know if you have any other questions :)
