I always thought that the drug metaphors for "eden/sleep/jesse/ whoever" were more addiction to the drama, the toxicity (tie back to the writing in Fall for me video) but i totally agree with the grooming of vessel because an abusive/ toxic relationship usually starts with one person is more toxic and they try to mold the lesser to match their toxicity. For me this is also the ending of or the pulling from the pit that is his need to avoid reality to stay in the relationship.

I don't understand youre hatred of Give, and the fact that you have one off THIS album that's your absolute least favorite is mind boggling and I'm not sure I'm ready to know....

This song is crazy because I've always thought that the fact that you can't fully understand him is intentional because Ves seems so frustrated, and the lyrics don't necessarily matter to understand that he is frustrated. BUT the lyrics are also very interesting because while he's so frustrated, the lyrics are so deperate. He's in this hole of the relationships making ( let's face it they're both toxic together, maybe them more than Ves by a little bit) and he is deperate for them to just pick him like he has picked them and this pit. I couldn't say its an emotionally triggering song for many people Because you can't fully understand him without reading the lyrics in time but i find it devestating because if You’ve ever been in a relationship like that (be romantic, platonic, familial) it's not hard to understand that level of frustration he's processing, but if you haven't you can still comprehend that this is what he's feeling even if it doesn’t hit you the same. Y'all are awesome, so glad I found your page!

I love y'alls videos because I love how different and similar your perspectives are on the lore and lyrics. Y'all are also hilarious! Ascensionism is my favorite Sleep Token song. It's in contention for my favorite song ever. I've always loved genre mixing, in music especially. The first time I heard this, it felt like what I've just been waiting for. Plus the story of someone realizing how bad their relationship is and how it's changed them over time is just so interesting to me. Loved the video guys.

AI is certainly moving along quickly and If nothing else, I believe introducing the R1 to children at an early age teaches them about AI and helps them to experience using it. It is certainly giving them a way to get their feet wet in this wonderful world of AI technology. Great job! Keep it up!

I've started following you onRUclips and on the discord. It is awesome that you see the positive aspects of this device! I love hearing how you are using it. Recently, I've discovered that I can create folders. Example: Grocery, Birthday Lists, Travel Lists, Addresses, Schedule, Gym Workouts, Music, and the list goes on and on. You do have to ask R1 to "look in the rabbit hole" for your "Birthday List, Workout, etc., but once you learn how to use this thing it does become a very useful tool. Just wanted to say thanks for your objectivity and receptiveness to the potential possibilities that the R1 offers. Great video!

This is definitely one of my favorite Sleep Token songs! It’s my driving jam…I blast it and sing my heart out 😂 And as if it didn’t already sound perfect on the album, it hits so hard live! Right before the breakdown, iii motions for the crowd to part! 🤘🏻 Also, something really cool I noticed early on, right before the breakdown, if you listen very closely, probably need headphones, you can hear muffled and distorted yelling or arguing that sounds like a woman, and then that screeching sound, since it’s about a car crash (literal or metaphorical), right before the breakdown hits, is the sound of breaks screeching

Also very happy with the way my r1 continues to surprise and delight. I feel sorry for those that can only see it as a finished product and base their short-sighted reactions on that. To me is is just the start of a voyage of discovery.

Saw them live this past May. ii killed that drum solo. The whole show was amazing honestly. Tears were shed especially with them starting with the TNDNBTG and ending with Euclid. Ughhh😭 i got to be pretty close to the stage too so that was cool.

This song is perhaps my least favorite from this album simply because it's the least delusional version of Vessel; I exist for Vessel's deranged mind, I THRIVE off of it. But lore-wise, I'll admit it's crucial to his story. Lyric Dissection Time! : Just let me know If nowadays, the outer rounds of heaven don't Keep up on the charm offensive anymore Failing to remind you what you're living for And I'd give anything to borrow your indifference I'd drink you in To temper your belief in all my promises To swallow my desire and choke on it - (Vessel seems unusually pitiful here, and not about himself this time. Prior, he was always the victim; he gave us a snippet in "Blood Sport" and Sleep's perspective in "Higher" about how he also instigated and lashed back in the relationship, but he never fully admitted to his actions like he does in this track. This reality version of Sleep is giving fallen angel vibes, where even Heaven - probably an outside support system like family/friends or even the relief of substances - isn't opening their gates welcomingly anymore. Vessel wants to be that relief for her, even willing to put aside his own desires for her, but she's abstaining from him.) 'Cause it still makes my blood run cold To remember what they did before The stories that you never told to me - (Hmm... what happened to this Sleep that is making his blood run cold? And how did he find out what happened despite her never telling him?) It seems like he's ready to move on in this epilogue... He's actually admitting to doing wrong before, and how he regrets everything he's done. He doesn't deny missing her, feeling like he's rendered useless without her.) I sang this once on quiet nightshift, and my fellow nurse told me this is the saddest lullaby she's ever heard. I guess that's the best way to describe this song. This is definitely gonna be ranked at 35 for me. I love this song like any other Sleep Token song, but this song does feel like I'm missing something. Considering how clever Vessel is, maybe that was the point. Either way, I'm truly sad that we're moving on from this album. It's hands-down my favorite, and I am a hopeless nostalgic... but this feels like an appropriate send off. I'm so glad you allowed us to join you on this journey, Dave and Sussi :) Can't wait to ascend to Eden with you both! ❤

This was my most listened to song on Spotify last year. It's my second favorite Sleep Token song behind Ascenionism, so I'm with you on not knowing why people don't talk about it more.

Finally getting to this! Aged a year, had myself a wee bit of a mental health crisis, but we're here :) This song actually took me a minute to get into simply because I was so hyper fixated on songs like Atlantic, Hypnosis, Alkaline, and Descending. I never really paid attention to the lyrics until the day someone on TikTok mentioned a line from this track: "Wash me clean again before I pull myself beneath the waves". That verse alone hooked me to this track and is the one that made me realize just how deep the lore truly dives, and now it's unskippable. To me, this song is almost like Vessel's actual realization that this relationship with Sleep that he seeks is unattainable. The beauty and wonder of Sleep that he was so enamored by before was simply his sight through rose-tinted lenses... and he's finally coming to his senses. Lyric Dissection Time! : For the time being I will still avoid my own questions And we both bury that history deep But you know I can hold my breath forever - (Our protagonist Vessel is going through the acceptance stage - unceremoniously, but he's trying his best - in coming to the eventual realization that it was all in his head. Both Vessel and Sleep are aware that this relationship, no matter how passionate it was, was never going to last... so they bury their history in an attempt to move on. But classic Vessel, forever the nostalgic, will constantly and silently fester and hope for another chance) For the time being You are still a perfect reminder Of what all of these scars on my arms are for If I can hold myself together - (For now, Vessel is going to use Sleep as a relic, a TOKEN, of all his past sins. And he's going to use them to help him build himself back up from his broken state, piece by piece. Vessel was going through hell to make sure Sleep was floating on high water, and he was always looking for Sleep to give him that small dose of love, of spiritual cleansing, before diving beneath the waves of depression, turmoil, and tribulation time and time again) When the mouth of infinity Buries its teeth in me I'll smile through the agony for you And I know you still bear the weight of your own existence And you'll never bear the weight of two - (Vessel really loves his euphemisms of vorarephilia. As time passes on and eats away at him, he'll still smile through the pain despite him knowing that no matter how hard he tries to make the relationship last for the both of them... he knows it's too much to handle for the other party. A tale of unrequited love as old as time itself.) No matter how hard he tries, it was never going to work... so he's finally going to stop pretending as if it ever was.) I can't hold myself together - (The visceral scream Vessel lets out is telling us that while he's in the realm of reality and acceptance now, it doesn't make it hurt any less. This doesn't even need an explanation, you can just FEEL it) This song reminded me of all of my memories with my ex and how the relationship, looking back at it now, was very one-sided for 4 years. We were both young and naive, and wanted someone to cling onto and claim as our own. I tried my best to make the "love" last, and they were too timid to admit they no longer had feelings. In their own words, they "only had a crush on me, they didn't actually love me". I was distraught; going through nursing school, failing a semester, moving house because my family had to go bankrupt, and my grandfather falling ill and being hospitalized all was happening at the same time... and that's when they decided it was time to go. The worst part? I saw it coming. They were distancing themselves for months prior; we were in a long-distance relationship, so we'd communicate through text daily. But those days turned to every other day, to every few days, to once a week... they were always "busy" with something, and I was seemingly less and less important. Maybe they were going through something they weren't comfortable bringing up to me, despite my constant reassurance and urgence that I am a presence they could confide in. They broke up with me through text, so I called. I had an entire conversation ready in my head, and I was going to give them a piece of my mind. But all I did was cry. I cried until I couldn't anymore. I said goodbye, and I contemplated doing things to myself I am not proud of. I don't live very far from the Ambassador Bridge (drive right past it every day to work now, actually. Ironic, isn't it?), so it would've been so easy for me... but I didn't follow through. I don't know what made me refrain. Maybe it was fear, maybe it was cowardice, maybe I knew that this relationship was never going to last in the first place and denial or the need to call somebody "mine" was what dragged it on for years. Maybe it was an amalgamation of everything. Despite it all... I'm glad I didn't follow through. It's been 6 years since, and I've matured and learned to take my pain to use as a tool for me to grow stronger. And while it still hurts to remember, I hold no resentment towards them. I hope they're doing okay. I had to take several breaks writing this simply because of how close this track hits home. Letting go of something you've loved and cherished for so long that you no longer can fathom living past is one of the hardest parts of the grieving process for me, but it is the most necessary for personal growth. And I know I say this about a lot of Sleep Token songs, but this one especially struck a chord for me on a most personal level. P.S.: AYYYYY FALL OUT BOY MENTIONED!

Can you please explain where the drink-driving connection is? As I can't see it. The only mention of drinking in the song is the line "you only drink the water when you think it's Holy" which I always interpreted as someone only doing something when it suits them or when they are going to receive something in return. Hi Dave and Sussan. When this song was originally released, I had a conversation with someone online who approached the lyrics from a "magic" or "esoteric" viewpoint, and they suggested that the lyrics were employing Dualism. Red and Blue, Sky and Earth, Flesh and Bone, etc. Personally, not having magical beliefs, I'm not too sure what to make of that. Any thoughts, guys? Stay safe 🤘 ✌️
