I am currently doing this job and have the same problem. I am coming to realization that the Differential crossmember rubber bushings are the culprits. The more the bushings squished over time, the farther the leaf spring will lean back out of range. Especially with new snubber bushings installed at the front of the differential. I have ordered new bushings and will be comming up with the correct spacing that the crossmember bushing spacing needs to be, at the point of the "Sumbrero's" which is where the crossmember actually mounts to the frame.

Very helpful video, thanks. I was looking for such a video. Have the same old canister on my '74 Corvette. Will replace it with the newer one. Do you add a rubber line on the AIR- inlet or just let it stay open?
Glad I could help! The aftermarket canister has a little plastic shroud covering that air vent, so it's not completely open. Is there a reason why it would need to be covered?
@@ingrownhare9211 Sincere thanks for your reply. That's the question. My thought was that the air vent at top of the new canister (big pipe with shroud at the left) was the same the old one has at the bottom. I don't know the sense of the shroud, because you can buy such canisters without the shroud too. Is the shroud completely closing the pipe? Or can air escape the canister with the shroud in position? It's even possible, it's just a protection against dirt or water entering the canister. Wasted a lot of time in the internet without finding an answer. They should make these things like the originals.
@@KAMR4 I think you are correct. Functionally, the air vent at the top of the new canister is likely the same as the air vent at the bottom of the original canister. And yep, the shroud does indeed appear to only be there to block contaminants from entering. I've put a few hundred miles on the car since I replaced the canister with no issues, and the gas smell coming from the car has lessened (although it is still there). Because of that, I am fairly confident that I replaced the canister correctly.

The number 1 problem with the mid 70s to 82 C3 is that there’s a lot of them produced and very cheap to buy and the problem is that the wrong people are buying them,the so called dreamers who don’t know nothing about Corvettes.The more they screw up these cars the more my urethane bumper Vette goes up in value.
I might just those dreamers! But I know a good local shop and I have them check my work after bigger projects like this to make sure I'm not going to end up on the side of the highway with a mangled car.
Iceman???? Sounds like something an iceman would say. I don't know what a urethane corvette is but if you have one I am gonna avoid them. Sounds like a Fisher-Price toy.
@@mikejerman1912 A urethane Corvette is a C3 from 1973 to 82 build with urethane numbers.

how do you power an arduino? what did U use?
All I need is something that reads 123456. Mind boggling to me that in 2021 this does not exist in a manual trans car. I know that mfrs don't care about manuals anymore, but still how much engineering and cost is involved here? If this guy can do it, I think they can. Wouldn't even have to use OBD. Just sensors in the shifter. Personally I do mix up 4th and 6th occasionally.
Since you call the display an "o-lead" screen, shouldn't you call the green and red indicators "lead"s?

Very useful video, just about to start a similar project, so thanks. For fuel economy (MPG) you could also try PIDs 94 (engine fuel rate) or 157 if your car supports it.

It would work fine. You'd just have to get rid of the clutch-button and change a few lines of code :)
