I was a little disappointed because it was set up too much as a tourist attraction. They could have saved the time and effort and just left it the way it's supposed to be and it would've been better. It's not a "galeón", it's a "nao". The galeones were larger, larger than 300 tons and up to 2,000 in the case of the Galeones de Manila. The Great Armada that we sent affectionately to our beloved British heretics in 1588 had several galleons larger than 800 tons and coincidentally they were almost all Portuguese since at that time we were allies.

@@goplaces1015 Thanks for your message. I know that they themselves promote the name "Galeón" saying that it is an exact replica... and etc. But it seems incorrect to me based on the specifications I have given. The video is very good and also that you are interested in our things. My correction was in a general, informative sense. And the mention about our beloved British heretics, the Navy and so on is said from a humorous point of view. Although the data about the Portuguese galleons is true. I was almost born in Winchester. My mother preferred that I be Spanish almost at the last moment, in the eighth month of pregnancy. But I have always considered Winchester to be a very special place, I was excited when I visited it for the first time. And whenever I can when I visit Great Britain I return there because I like it.

🤔. Las islas de Guadalcanal. Tienen nombre español por algo. The video description is a bit misleading, ships like these were out of commission by the late 17th century, the design and structure completely changed, ships were build longer and bulkier which allowed for more cannon, these changes brought the end of the forecastle as seen with 'Andalucia'. By the end of the 17th century the Galleons started to look more like that of 'HMS Victory' that you could still find moored in England today.

I spent many happy hours wandering around Mote Park over the years. I migrated to Australia almost 4 decades ago now though. Sadly, one of the most noticeable things missing at Mote Park now were the usual number of sparrows, blackbirds, thrushes etc...
