    Beautiful bird man! Thats always been my dream airplane. I have a neighbor that has a 185 that is immaculate. Makes me drool when i hear him pour the coal to that beast on takeoff. He has a little tiny airstrip carved out of a cedar thicket and the sound of that big 6 cylinder echoes through the trees like a demon . He doesn't fly very often for some reason and has a Decathlon as well. I live and work on a farm but my passion in aviation. Hoping to build an experimental in the near future with the hopes of just enjoying flying around the farmland and hills of Tennessee. Have you considered putting your airplane in experimental category? Experimental is thw only option for me unless i hit the lottery some day. Basically build and fly a very capable stol bird for cost of that certified engine in your bird. I see a lot of people going that route. Makes it so much easier to modify and just maintain overall. Especially since you like to actually get your hands dirty. I dont think its really that big of a deal to change it over . I didn't realize you could do as much as you have with the panel on a certified bird. I love than Dynon. Dont understand why people are so in love with Garmin. The HDX does everything the Garmin does and is ten times more user friendly on installation. Anyway, enjoyed your videos and looking forward to the next one. Thx.

      Thank you very much. I would love this airplane to be Experimental. I looked into it and got the impression it was a recurring pain in the butt. Someday I’ll do a detailed video on the airplane but I got it on a trailer completely gutted but a 140 hour engine and 10 hour prop. All in I think I’m at $80k.

    Great intro, congrats. New sub here looking forward to your content. Thank you for your service. Was going down the aircrew route initially many years ago but ended up turning wrenches for 33 years on many different airframes. Now am out, looking for a place to call home for a bit and squeeze in some flight schooling and getting a trail dragger as well. Better late than never as they say. You and your family will be having an unbelievable 2025 come May, we all just need to hang in there for a couple of months. Take care, great location for your new home, congrats there as well!!

    As a so-called veteran aviator, you should know to use your call, sign and not the color of your aircraft when making radio transmissions

    • @VeteranAviator
      @VeteranAviator 13 дней назад

      That’s not how it’s done at uncontrolled airfields. Primarily because it is “see and avoid” and nearly impossible to read a tail number on a flying aircraft. At towered airports or when dealing with ATC I use my tail number. GA aircraft don’t typically have callsigns.

    Great Video! You need to fix your Oil fill hatch, it shouldn't be chattering away, it's going to prematurely fail, and or cause stress cracks in your cowl. I have the Dynon Skyview HDX in my Super Cub, I love them.

    I've never seen that brand of avionics, interesting stuff. Were they in there when you purchased the plane or did you add them in a panel overhaul? Thoughts versus Garmin glass? Seeing how the magnetos are on switches I am assuming you have push button start as well? What year/engine is your 180? And nice phallic road there lol. What part of the country are you in, I heard you mention the hill country so I am assuming Texas? And from one veteran pilot to another I am happy to have found your channel. Looking forward to more tail wheel content.

      This is the Dynon Skyview HDX. It’s great. I’m not incredibly familiar with the Garmin stuff but I haven’t found anything I don’t like and this is less than 1/2 the cost. I got the airplane as a project in 2018 and finished it in 2022. It does have push button start. It’s a 1958 182A tailwheel converted with an O-470. I’m in the Houston area. That road is in Magnolia. I laugh every time I see it.
