Making a recurve knife with an integral guard. Knifemaking and Forging.
#forge #bladesmith #knifemaking
In this video I showcase how I made a knife from part of a bed frame and some stabilized red cedar wood.
The blade is normalized at about 1,575°F then at 1,475°F and quenched in Canola oil at 1,550°F. The bevels ar sanded to 120 grit then finished with a scotchbrite belt.
The handle scales are held on with G/Flex epoxy and two 1/8 inch aluminum pins. The handle is handsanded to 400 grit then coated with epoxy and polished on a buffing wheel.

#bladesmith #forge #knifemaking In this video I show you how I made a Bowie Knife from a rusted cultivator shank (probably 5160 spring steel) and some stabilized cherry wood. It took me over 50 hours to make this knife, and about halfway through I almost threw it away. When quenched the blade the edge rippled because I had ground it to thin. So I hade to grind back the edge about 1/8 inch, whic...
Making a knife from an old cultivator shank and some black walnut wood. knifemaking and forging.

#forge #bladesmith #knifemaking In this video I make a knife from a piece of a cultivator shank (probably 5160 spring steel) and some stabilized black walnut wood. The blade of this knife is hand forged to roughly the shape of a knife. The rest of the profiling and bevel grinding is done with the angle grinder and belt sander. The blade is heat treated for excellent edge retention and toughness...
lol, checking heat treatment quality by file and then drilling holes just like that. sorry dude but this is trash.
I don't remember why l didn't drill the holes pre heat treat, but I heated up the tang with a propane torch to soften it so that I could drill the holes. I just didn't show that in the video.
Dope AF results, @TorchPhaiz-lh-1up! Now it needs an equally dope sheath/scabbard to complete the package!

Que exelente trabajo!! Que le pone a final antes del pulido?
I coat the handle with epoxy then polish it.
@@TorchPhaiz-lh1up en mi país es costosa esa resina la versión económica es la que se usa para reparar plástico resina poliester pero voy a probar maestro gracias por la respuesta saludos desde Paraguay
@@maikelpachanga4448I've also used Tru-oil gun stock finish which works fairly well. I don't like it as much as the epoxy finish, but it is quite inexpensive.
Muito bom o seu trabalho! lindo demais! parabéns e Deus abençoe sempre sua vida 🙏
Thank you.

Nice work man! What was the finish you put on the handle? You got some smooth bevels too, I know those are hard to learn.
Thanks, I coated the handle with epoxy. I've used tru-oil gun stock finish on some of my other knives but I like the epoxy finish better.
Nice work dude. The knife looks cool. 👍👍
Hi , and with basic tools , Great work , and the future ahead of you !
