    It's flat out to easy to get "certified" and as a trainer your responsibility for someone is too high to just barely know what you are doing

    The CSEP (Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology) exam has a written and practical exam. When I took the tests the practical included a sub-maximal conditioning text (1 of 3 possible, don't know which until you get there), sub-maximal strength tests (pushup, squat, pull-up, bench press, etc.) as well as skin fold testing all of which needed to be passed to get certified. Also, as a prerequisite, many post-secondary kinesiology courses must have been completed ahead of time. Not all certifications are created equally.

    You don't need the band. This was used to increase range of motion to add a flexibility component for the hamstrings
