Badlands (1973) Filming Locations - 2023
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.Год назад
Even though Terrence Malick’s film "Badlands" takes place in South Dakota and Montana, it was filmed in southeastern Colorado during the summer and fall of 1972. This video examines some of the filming locations more than a half-century later, in August 2023. The towns of Las Animas and Rocky Ford stand in for Fort Dupree, South Dakota. In the opening sequence, Martin Sheen’s character-Kit-coll...

A sea shanty on a pipe organ? Why not?? Here I play my arrangement of The Wellerman on the organ at Calvary United Methodist Church in Arlington, VA. Special thanks to Dennis Thorp and Evan Shively at Calvary United Methodist for granting me permission to use this wonderful instrument and to Kelli McCullough (www.youtube.com/@thedcgirl3616) for the camerawork. The Railroad Crossing & Bridge from Breaking Bad's "Dead Freight" - June 10, 2022
Просмотров 129Год назад
The Breaking Bad episode “Dead Freight” (season 5, episode 5) is a favorite among railfans-and why wouldn’t it be? The episode revolves around a train robbery. This video examines where the robbery supposedly took place and the actual filming location. The crossing and bridge where the scene was shot are in Eldorado, which is about 13 miles south of downtown Santa Fe, on the Santa Fe Southern R...

Love it!
Nice
That was some nice crisp pedaling. Especially with the liftoff at 0:19
Very well put together, thank you for this! I first saw this film in 1983 late one night on a b&w TV and fell in love with it then. I’ve long wanted to visit the filming locations and sad to the One Stop store has collapsed. In an interview with Sissy Spacek she said the little hut next the railroad tracks was built for the movie.
Love this movie
Do you live nearby these places? I would love a piece from a filming location like a rock or something
I grew up about 1-2 hours from most of these places but now live on the other side of the country. If you travel to Colorado Springs, Denver, or Pueblo, you could make a day trip out of vising these filming locations.
Guess what this reminds me of: 1:09 "McQueen's Lost" - Randy Newman | The part where Lightning McQueen tries to look for Mack and almost got hit by an oncoming train from Disney PIXAR's Cars directed by John Lassetter and Joe Ranft released by Disney and PIXAR in July 9, 2006
Rest in Peace :<
Pretty cool
Thanks for doing this. 'Badlands' is a great movie.
I really want to see these wigwags from "Cars" out in the USA again. I miss 'em
Back before "SKY Railway" came along with their terrible paint job.....🤣
Still, at the end of the day, better a weird paint scheme than an out-of-business /abandoned railroad, which is probably what would have happened by now if the Sky Railway hadn’t come along.
Nice job.
Outstanding Jeff. Outstanding
Let’sssssss goooooo
....Was I the one that introduced you to the Longest Johns?
I believe you were!
What a fun arrangement of this sea shanty!
Wonderful arrangement and performance!
Most of these semaphores were removed in November 2022.
Yep, which is why I'm so glad I caught them when I did. I hope to make it back there this coming spring/early summer to capture the remaining ones while there's still time. Thank you for documenting this line in your own videos. Considering that I now live halfway across the country, it's difficult for me to get out there.
미쳐야 할수 있을것같다~ 나도 미치게 잘 하고 싶다~
Priceless
Stunningly beautiful rendition. Bravo!
USA
Nice video. It was 100 degrees when you were filming this.
I just noticed, why does it not ring the bell correctly when it swings onto its right side?
I believe that had something to do with the cold weather-it was 22° F that morning. If you check out other videos of that wig wag, you'll see the bell functioned normally during summer months.
@@starkj92 I think the hammer might have froze
Oh thank you very much, thanks, thanks!
this signal should have never been retired. it would last until the end of time.
outstanding video photography! sorry to see that one retired a year ago.
What a old crossing
such a fascinating location
Do any freights pass there?
Yes, but they're relatively rare. Amtrak is regularly scheduled (assuming it's on time), so it's easiest to catch. Searching "Delhi Wigwag Freight" on RUclips pulls some results from the past few years.
A few hundred feet away was the sight of the Delhi Colorado crash on November 19 1977 with the southwest limited
Wow! Very impressive!
that got replaced with new how about here coordinates 37.925013, -122.384273
Incredible!
Wow!
This is like a wonderful merging of tap dance like coordination, percussionist vibes and skilled keyboardist! Bravo! 🤩
Holy heck 👏🏼😳
im def stopping at Lamy this time.
This signal is gone now, Busdriver2435 does not approve of this.🤨😢😠🤔
The photographs in these are beautiful. Especially the stars in the beginning.
I shot the nighttime photographs here and elsewhere in the album on Antelope Island. I parked my car at the Buffalo Point trailhead and hiked up it as the sun was setting, only to realize after it was pitch black that I had been dumb enough to do this alone and to fail to bring a real flashlight, only my phone. Things look pretty different after dark, and it took me forever to find my way back to the trail and then to hike down it without tripping and breaking my neck. Lesson learned. So I'm glad you enjoy the photographs, because there was certainly some hazard involved in getting them!
I love the southwest chef
I wonder why BNSF installed new signals here instead of just keeping the crossbucks and wig-wag up. This road probably only gets a few cars per day and two trains per day, so the new signals are a waste of time and money.
The Cares act of 2020 funded all the TIGER grants in relation to PTC modernization of this line for the Southwest Chief. The FRA has been beating several railroads on the head demanding they remove wig wags citing disrepair/unserviceable and lack of yield signs for "unprotected" crossings. The last pair in WI and the last one in MO disappeared in 2020 due to this pressure. Even Delhi, CO was affected: yield signs added in September 2020 indicating it was an "unprotected" crossing. I would not be surprised if all the wig wags are found by the FRA and ordered to be removed.
@@Sunset4Semaphores the FRA needs to chill out. That crossing probably sees less than a dozen cars per day and most have probably never even see the signal activate since the town died off...
@@NS_5350 agreed. why not just move the wig wag to the left side of the road and grandfather it? it is a great redundancy
Give me more videos of the Delhi Wig-Wag
How long his this signal been there?
2:04 There are 2 more square boxes in the ground. That's a lot of space for 1 signal. I am thinking they are for more than just the signal, since the signal has it's own box
What is in the thing to the right of the wigwag that has the round cover on it just above the ground with a chain going across it ? Is that some sort of storage box for train emergency supplies or is that part of the control wiring box ?
Hey, is it possible if I could use this footage for a tribute video that I'm making? I'll be sure to credit you.
Sure, you are free to use this footage or footage from any of my other videos.
Sadly and rather very unfortunately, this wig wag is going to be replaced with the modern signals within days. A real shame since I never got to travel to Delhi to see the wig wag in action myself (where I live, we only have 4 wig wag crossings left that are still in service, and even then train travel is mostly scarce since they're on a shortline). However it's going to be preserved in the Colorado Railroad Museum in the city of Golden. So while the crossing itself may not be signaling any oncoming BNSF or Amtrak trains anymore, it's at least nice to hear that the wig wag itself will not be going to scrap like most of these crossings do; a happy ending to a long and prosperous career.
So my question is did BNSF decide to donate it to the museum or did the Museum ask them specifically if they could get it ?
@@RailPreserver2K Likely the museum asked BNSF if they could have it, though I don't live anywhere near Colorado so I wouldn't know for sure.
New relay case and foundations for new signals have been put in
