Winning shows, like it or not, will mostly always have flashy drill, interactive props, at least in our case. My junior year was our successful year. At our area competition we ended up placing first at finals (which was mind blowing because we’ve never made finals to begin with until that night), but coincidentally that time our music and props were much higher quality than previously for us (link to the show is facebook.com/KatyHSBand/videos/325956471551871/ , I recommend a watch;) ) Just makes me wonder if it were possible for my band to sound decent with Tilt music

I was a Tenor player in this band but moved before the season ended. This was their first competition without me, and they had one tenor. It is low key kind of weird to look back and see this, given that I have moved across the country, just won state with my current band, and am an aspiring WGI/DCI player. This is not necessarily embarrassing, it’s just kinda odd because at the time I didn’t understand that they literally ripped off one of the greatest DCI shows of all time... edit: everyone who’s being a condescending jerk about this show, please realize that literally No one in this organization knew what they were doing. The director was actually a VERY competent musician and this school’s Jazz ensemble is award winning, he just had no idea what he was doing with the marching band. PLEASE do NOT hate on the students...
only one Mc_savage_Pancakes stop thinking this a bluecoats show, as in the bluecoats never preformed tilt. If you remove that title and just look at what they did, I think it's pretty good. Obviously there are things that are rather messy but it had strong parts and at the end of the day, that's the show they did, and it's not gonna change.
Honestly, this is pretty exceptional for high schoolers, especially given the nature of the program they're performing. I'm just struggling to understand why their director did this to them.
my biggest pet peeve is that there's no originality. hell they're even carrying their horns like the Bluecoats!! you can't expect to not be compared to the Bluecoats when you try to perform the show almost exactly like they did.
I wonder to myself what it would be like marching in a band that size fairly frequently. I love my program, and unfortunately I have to leave this year, but in college I may find out.
SethC If your band is so good, then you would realize what it takes. You never make fun of a band, there's tons of kids involved, who work tirelessly, even if it doesn't pan out well. You simply don't do that, it's very uncool. Please delete your original comment. Not everyone has 6A school funding and a huge booster program, their own drill designers and composers, but they still work just as hard. Seriously, you need to delete your original comments. Also, every high school band show ever made by these big schools makes me cringe into oblivion, what with the super stereotypical radio sounds in the beginning, the minor key flute solo before the opener, everyone spread out doing the stupid plume thing. There's sin everywhere, and people like you who troll other bands and call them bad have no grounds to ever critique.
This is awesome! Yeah, obviously not as good as the bluecoats but I would be absolutely ecstatic if my BD announced we were doing a bluecoats (or and DCI) show.
Folsom high school marching band is pretty good, but nowhere near what would be needed to play a great sounding and looking version of "Tilt". When you play a show that was played before only by one of the best drum corps ever, you are expected to sound like them. This performance should be a lesson; don't bite of more than you can chew.
Weisss. its definitely not the same. in drum corps they don't really have to waste time teaching the rookies how to march and play. plus the level of practice is insane compared to high school. the Bluecoats practiced this show everyday for 11 hours a day.
I just watched through the entire show for the first time, because I usually cringe out a minute into it, but I decided to see the full product. It was pretty bad... I realize that attempting to play a show of the caliber of Tilt is difficult, but damn... Why? Like who thought it was a good idea. And also, Bluecoats put their show together in about 1 month, with slight tweaks throughout the summer. So stop being a buffoon and just accept the shame that performing this brought upon you and your high school ;)
Naa most of the money goes to our football program (10.5 million for a new field) so compared to like Saratoga, Pleasanton, and granite bay we're pretty poor most of our instruments and uniforms are like decades old
Dude, they are achieving, learning, growing and having a blast. Who the hell made you the DCJW? (Drum Corps Justice Warrior) Did you practice today? For how long? What did you get better at doing? Can you do anything perfect? Now stop being a clown-shoe.
Is that not the BD 2009 uniform??
i think it's the BD 2000-2003 uniform, 2009 looks like a mirrored version

Wait so none of the members knew it was actually a knock off drum corp show? No hate i promise
It's really not bad, it's pretty fun to watch haha but the thing ticking me off is that there is lack of originality :/
Very good low brass
this actually really good

wtf 5:13... also those bass splits sound like i dropped my mallet on to my bass and let it bounce.
i like this comment
rip. it was good untill...
I think I just threw up a little in my mouth...
Wow. Just wow. Shame on the design team there. Setting the kids up for failure
I think thats me sitting by myself in the bleachers. lol
The second half of the ballad isnt even too bad
Oh my god what
Honestly, this is pretty exceptional for high schoolers, especially given the nature of the program they're performing. I'm just struggling to understand why their director did this to them.

Check out the Pace Viking Band 2016 Tilt, I swear it's not as cringey. We knew our limitations
Erin Guerra damn pace high school sounds pretty hella cool.
Why....
Old bd uniforms and playing bluecoats
Aren’t those uniforms from BDB
I wonder to myself what it would be like marching in a band that size fairly frequently. I love my program, and unfortunately I have to leave this year, but in college I may find out.
It's a drum corps show for a reason, nothing against the kids but this just is not a great show choice for purely high schoolers
winds need some work but drumline sounds pretty good.
Jacob Halfman debatable (I'm part of the drum line) but thanks
Overall balance is what what make this over the top great for a high school band
Jacob Halfman drum line is the worst section, I'm in it and I would know
Their ballad is my ballad but ours is better :P
5:13 I'm literally fucking dying with laughter 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 omg it's sooooo bad
I guarantee your band sounds worse 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂⚠💯💯💯 get a life
I didn't know that this kind of person could exist in the marching band/DCI community. Fuck off with your toxic comments.

Cringing of this right now.
Ikr
Chris Plmmr yeah at your comment
Oh and your minecraft playin channel
Ooooh I can't wait to see what they do for downside up
This is awesome! Yeah, obviously not as good as the bluecoats but I would be absolutely ecstatic if my BD announced we were doing a bluecoats (or and DCI) show.
It's funny to me that the uniforms and the teacher is the same.. after twelve years. This brings back good memories. Thank you for sharing.
H..ahah… they’re still the same, my second year of band
I graduated in 2004, and it was the same teacher. :)
@@Exactpie1 Unfortunately this is gaesser’s last year, 22-23. I would never survive that long teaching high school students to play an instrument Xd
my heart sank when they cut the drum break :'( other than than....not bad
why does this exist
why do you exist
bluecoats hahahaha, but thats pretty long for a high school marching band show

+LEGITx BACCA yeah, it was a good effort, you guys are not a drum corp, and therefore only have the 3 months. my point still stands
Well to be fair, all marching bands and drum corps only have 3 months to prepare their show...
I thought you guys did fine
Weisss. its definitely not the same. in drum corps they don't really have to waste time teaching the rookies how to march and play. plus the level of practice is insane compared to high school. the Bluecoats practiced this show everyday for 11 hours a day.

All I want to know is how much was payed for the copyrights from the bluecoats since it it basically their show shortened.
+emelt24 Are you sure? My mom is a professional.
+yegermister1 Folsom is the richest school in my district, no matter what the cost was they could easily pay it.
