Blackstar HT5 - MKiii, Good or Garbage?
Просмотров 17714 дней назад
An honest review of the new Blackstar HT5 MK3 Combo. The amp is mic'd with a sennheiser E906, with no effects in front of the amp, or in post. There are some bits to this amp, like the CABRIG that I do not cover in this video, sorry, if I'm going to record an amp, I'll either mic it, or use the Celestial Creamback IR's in my DAW. The guitars used were the LT Custom Carve Top & LT Custom Private...
The Daniels Guitars Royale '56

An honest look, albeit through my very rose tinted glasses, of the Daniels Royale '56. The 'Royale' model is the flagship offering from Daniels Guitars - a boutique brand in the UK specialising in mixing the right parts of vintage and modern into their guitars. Don't worry - they mainly make right handed guitars but will happily do lefties when asked. For more information and up to date pricing...
Joyo Narcissus Chorus Pedal Sounds

A quick and honest look at the JOYO Narcissus chorus pedal. I used my Daniels Guitars 'Royale 56' into the Brelliott SCS Trailblazer amp, through my captor into the cream back IR's in my DAW. Please someone enlighten me as to why chorus pedals are blue?! Daniels Guitars : danielsguitars.co.uk Brelliott Amps : brelliott.com LT Custom Guitars : ltcustomguitars.co.uk

Creamy Lead Tones With The Chase Tone Secret Preamp Pedal
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.Месяц назад
This is an honest look at the Chase Tone Secret Preamp pedal, which I bought myself earlier this year and has now become my go to pedal for creamy Johnson / Gilmour esque lead tones. To my surprise, I found it works exceptionally well on its own, just using a little bit of drive from the amp. For more information on the secret preamp pedal, you can visit the Chase Tone website chasetone.com/sec...
The most over looked Orange amp?
Просмотров 9352 месяца назад
We're having a look at one the most underrated orange amps that are still made today, in my opinion anyway. The AD30 Twin Channel. The guitar used is the LT Custom Privateer Standard. We're recording with the Captor X and using the Celestion V30 IR's as that's what this combo is loaded with. www.ltcustomguitars.co.uk

Generally it alternated between the pulsonic and the greenback but it did reinforce that I don't like creamback's
Strange, I’d always heard you LOVED creambacks! 😂
@ltcustomguitars , you've got to be careful what you choose to believe, before you know it you'll be a full blown conspiracy theorist 😂
Great video man! I have a HT20 MK2 combo and I recently got the HT20mk3 head. The clean tones of the head are a huge step up from the 2. The 3 takes pedals a lot better and the tone control of the clean channel feels like it has a more usable range. I never fully clicked with the cleans of the 2 and struggled to use pedals with it, but the 3 takes them wonderfully. The drives on the 3 are a bit smoother too, less harshness in the high end, more mid range. It can do the Voxy thing, but it can also get a little Marshall-ish too when needed. It's got quite a lot of gain on tap.
Thanks man, yeah I think the cleans are great on this, I must admit I didn’t run pedals through it as I’m in the process of re doing my boards. The one thing I’m not sure if it was an improvement or not was the ISF knob… it’s been a while since I had my MK1 but seem to remember it having more range on that than it does on the 3?
They are great value for your money, also has an headphone out
Yep, no denying you get a lot of amp for your money!
Some good riffs there! 😉 🎉
Thanks… hopefully I don’t get pinged too hard for copyright! 🤣
Phenomenal guitar, you're a lucky boy Lewis. I couldn't agree more, Darren is one of the best out there 🔥
He really is… shame he wouldn’t build me a tele instead 🤷 😂 *awaits incoming flak!*
@@ltcustomguitars , you've just got to ask nicely 😂
@@ltcustomguitarscan't find enough bad emoji to reply properly 🤣
@@karllongbottomguitars9192😂 you wouldn't like me when I'm angry, usually as a result of someone asking about teles and strats
@@danielsguitars1659 was just about to say… I’m sure if you can’t find the bad emojis, you’ll get creative!
What about keeping the MM in the "sweetspot", but reverse the P pickup... So that the E and A are closer to the traditional P spot, but the D and G are closer to the neck (tighter E and A, fatter D and G)?
That is actually one of the things we considered early on, and would happily do if that’s what someone wanted, it may find its way on to a demo model next as well…
1 second in, I said fuck, yeah! 6 seconds in, I said, holy shit. The remainder, I said 'fuck yeah & holy shit' a lot. Wow! I want one. I wanna play like that. I know Royal blud does this kinda thing. But, this is just as big but it's bass and not trying to be a like a guitar.
There’s more Pioneer bass ‘shorts’ coming very soon!
Wow! Damn you guys! I've now got extreme GAS. That's my idea of the perfect bass. P for the old school thump. Stingray for the funk. Blend for everything in between. And a simple active EQ for modern shizzle. All that and a bridge Jazz Bass sound? Ricky too? C'mon! I want one. I'll trade you my kidneys for it, dude.
Thanks for the kind words and I’m glad you like the bass!
Chorus pedals are often blue as it's said to be the sound of water/the ocean 🤔
As someone who has lived in and now near Brighton, I can safely say, the water there is not blue… I guess a brown chorus pedal is not that appealing though 😂
@@ltcustomguitars , Ha ha ha ha 😂😂
I like the unconventional configuration, very unique
Thanks! As unconventional as it is you can still get the conventional sounds out of it 🙂
100% Agree
I use Mxr script dynacomp into Blues driver Same tone but feels fantastic.. you can "lean on the tone"
Oh that’s very handy to know. I’ll have to try and get my hands on one of those MXR’s… I’ve seen one or two go for big money second hand!
Ooooo I likey!
Thanks Richard!
How about a burl walnut top, preferably recycled 😂😂
That sounds suspiciously fun-spongey to me Karl….
@@ltcustomguitars 🤣🤣
That's a sexy bass
Thanks, Phil. Looking forward to spraying a few more cool colour combinations on the next ones!
Where do you have this pedal in the signal chain? nice video!
Thanks, and I should have talked about this in the video (I’m still learning!) I have it sat before my 2 overdrive pedals, which are the last things to run into the front of the amp. I have all my time and modulation effects run into the S/R loop, so there’s only this and the OD’s going through the front door as such. Kyle at Chasetone says it can sit pre or post OD, I think i played around and was a bit happier with it sat in front.
I know these journeys you’re talking about. They’re addictive. I went way too far with it. I mean, literally up to the point where I only slept like 1,5 to 2 hours per day, but not in bed. Those 1,5 to 2 hours were small moments when I was lying on the couch, iPhone in my hand, and then just sliding into a comatose state, sometimes for not more than half a minute, sometimes 20 minutes and sometimes an hour until a shock went through my body, waking me up again, lying in the most uncomfortable positions, still holding my smartphone, reading glasses still on…. and all these mini moments of sleep added up gave me this average of 1,5 to 2 hours of ‘sleep’ per day. This began with an average of 4 hour nights 6 years ago and it only got worse from there. Until a month ago I indeed had a period of 7 weeks that I didn’t sleep at all (in a normal way - just the ‘2’ hours I already explained). Needless to say that this wasn’t good for so many reasons. And it will probably take months, if not a year, to fully recover from it. HOWEVER…. (and I hate to say it), I learned so many things about pedals and other music related stuff, because that was basically the only things I would search for. And I did find some gems. I’m addicted to gain pedals (mostly in the category ‘mild overdrives’) and what I would call the opposite of that, namely an unnamed category of the craziest pedals to create all sorts of spacey soundscapes. When one of the less crazy pedals in this second category came out (the Strymon Cloudburst) I had to have it. I immediately knew what I needed (NEEDED!!!) it for. I had the same thing with the Fairfield Circuitry Shallow Waters and the Hologram Microcosm. I still don’t have the last one and that’s driving me nuts. But being the gain pedal addict that I am (by the way, just to clarify, I don’t just like every gain pedal. I’m looking for something that sounds absolutely amazing and that stands out from most other pedals in all sorts of ways), I am pleasantly surprised by this one. A really good sounding gain pedal is hard to find, but when you find one that doesn’t only sound great, but is also this extremely easy to use, then that’s a huge bonus for me. I like it a lot! I’m sorry for the long story. I had a relapse, so I didn’t sleep at all this night. The alarm went off half an hour ago, so I need to hurry. But this, the endless typing and not being able to stop once I began typing after I’ve been awake for too long is one of the things that comes with it. I’m working on it. Again, terribly sorry. I just wanted to say I loved your video. Thanks! 🧡😊
Don’t apologise at all. I think this is something that a lot of guitar player, or even musos in general go through at some point! Sounds like my rabbit hole wasn’t quite as bad as yours but I still dissappear for a couple of days at a time when I find a new bit of kit that i think might add to my ‘ToneHenge’ - if you like overdrives then I have a video coming up soon on the Brelliott ‘TODP’ - fantastic bit of kit that I’ve used in a few shorts but have a full video coming soon, it’s not your average OD and that thing lives on my board as well… when we’re not using it for recording / videos here. Thank you for the kind words on the video as well!
@@ltcustomguitars : Thanks! I’ll definitely watch that video! 😃👍
Nice playing. It's a great pedal. It's definitely a secret sauce sort of thing.
Thanks! Indeed it is, I wonder if I’ll be kicked out the secret pre amp club now I’ve talked about it!
N⁰3 for me m8 👌
That was the one that really surprised us in the room!
You could talk all day Lewis, surely not 😂😂
This video was 82 minutes long originally…. And there wasn’t anymore playing clips in there! 😂

My CR120 2x12 combo is a sonic monster. Its a solid state all analog version of the Rockerverb 2x12. 120watts of Orange juice. 🍊🧡
I’ve not had a chance to play one of those yet but have heard good things about the solid state stuff from Orange!
You know for the longest time I thought orange only made guitar amp heads and base amps
They still make a few combos, including the new oriverb, but not this one sadly. The heads looks very cool though. I believe they also make actual guitars and basses as well!
ooof! We recognise that quilt top!
That camera angle.
Having seen this guitar made by Lewis I had no idea it could sound so good
Nice to see our woods put to very good use here! Great playing by Rob as well!
Fantastic - you really handle that guitar beautifully & the sounds you create honey are epic - well done xx
Great playing Rob and guitar sounding great too 👍 👌
