Solaire Resort North || Lobster lunch buffet
We tried Fresh International Buffet at Solaire Resort North, fast gaining fame for its eat-all-you-can lobster. There was indeed lobster galore, plus many more delectable dishes. We paid around P2,200+ per person for the weekend lunch buffet which included an assortment of lobster dishes, a Korean food station, a Japanese sushi and sashimi corner, tempura, Chinese dimsum, Filipino fare, a variety of roast meats, a pasta station, a pizza corner, wines and beers and soda and juice, cheeses and salads, an assortment of bread and kakanin, tasty little cakes, bread pudding, ice cream in a variety of flavors, and the winner dessert for us -- hot, fresh-cooked churros!

We arrived in Nagoya by plane, stayed two days, then took the shinkansen to Tokyo where we stayed six days. We took the shinkansen back to Nagoya, spent four days here eating and shopping, then flew out with full bags and stomachs.

Brought two luggage on this trip a huge one for all my things, and a small carry-on that's practically empty, which I intended to fill with souvenirs. Flew out on an early morning flight, and arrived at Chubu Centrair around noontime. Ate lunch at the airport, then took the Mu Sky train to Nagoya Station. It's a short train ride about 30 minutes but it showcases the Central Japan countryside. R...

Sunrise departure guaranteed us clear skies and hardly any wind. Flight was relatively smooth throughout, except for some pockets of turbulence, and arrival at Chubu Centrair (Nagoya International Airport) was safe and smooth as well. We lingered at the airport awhile and ate lunch at a Subway there, then took the Mu Sky train to Meitetsu Nagoya Station. From there we took a taxi to nearby Henn...

As avid sumo fans, we believe every visitor to Japan should watch sumo at least once. After all, it is Japan's national sport. There are six grand tournaments in a year, one in each odd month, and each tournament lasts 15 days beginning on a Sunday in the middle of the month. The January (Hatsu Basho), May (Natsu Basho), and September (Aki Basho) tournaments are held in Tokyo, the March (Haru B...

We purposely visited Tokyo Station, not to get on any train or bus but just to take pictures and videos because it's such a beautiful station. We also popped by Roppongi to dine at Gonpachi, the "Kill Bill" restaurant. And finally, we enjoyed luxurious chocolate drinks and desserts at Godiva Cafe.

Day 1 of our six-day stay in Tokyo in the late spring of 2024. No more sakura, but it's Natsu Basho season! As avid sumo fans, we decided to book rooms at the Apa Horel Resort Ryogoku Eki, just a hop, skip, and jump from Ryogoku Kokugikan sumo stadium where the sumo matches are held every day for two weeks in late May. This is in Sumida Ward, Tokyo's sumo district.
