I was building a metcalf brewery converted to a distiley when my head blew a fuse 😮
Mike! I have to say this is one of the very best ‘n’ gauge layouts I have ever seen. In this fascinating railway era you have managed to capture the atmosphere perfectly. Very few layouts have this much character and identity in this gauge. Great work and detail, with the older stock adding to the charm.
Lots of info. Thanks… but I can’t read white on light grey.
Fantastic work and yes I’m going to try this 😊
Really nice thanks for sharing ❤
Is this still going?
A lot of work has gone into the landscaping on this layout. I wonder how long it took to build.
Nice walls, thanks for sharing.
What a super layout. Love the back scene and the birds whistling. Must be plenty of tokens for the single line. Three motive powers at the terminus keeps the signalman busy. 👍👍👍🇬🇧
I I have enjoyed your video and it really helps me with my recovery from my brain tumour and stroke as I try to get back to my modelling I was building a whisky distillery out of a metcalfe brewery when my head blowed a fuse I mention my illness so you know who is watching and why thank 😂
Nice layout
Great layout, has the 70's feel.
What make are those green trams?
I'm surprised you didn't put the Starcross Ferry in.....lol
Brilliant tips thankyou for the video
Wonderful and spiring. Congratulations from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Grateful to the internet for allowing me to appreciate things like these from so far away. Regards!
I agree ! Great n gauge layout of the North of England in the 1950s and 1960s. Best regards from England I am married to an Argentine lady for over 30 years. We live south of London !
This is great
A great layout. I really like the paper/card models. Do you have a link for some them.
Hi Rob - I have just come across your layout in the N Gauge Journal and wow what a fantastic layout you have built. It was a very interesting article and the photos showed it of to its best advantage until I found it on Key Model World along with a video, wonderful. You have copied the era I want but I will be Southern Rail. So I got lots of wonderful tips from finding this on RUclips. At the moment I only have one question, are the signals operational? Kind regards Chris
Hi Chris. No, they only move by hand.
Great detail and operation!
A wonderful layout superbly filmed. A delight to watch. Thank you!
If I wanted to read a book, I'd go to the library! RUclips is for moving image and audio.
I'm looking at my very first model railway and basing it on my favourite place on the Network Fort William could I ask a question regarding s&c is there two crossovers in the layout and two single ends a total of six sets of points I'm going from memory and what I've seen on youtube of shunting moves Thank you
I live close by, what a wonderful layout.
Thank you for sharing with us, you make a daunting task seem quite feasible with your step-by-step approach
Really lovely layout it looks much bigger than it is and the details are lovely
Stunning layout, models and video Craig! You've really raised the bar for next year!!
Brilliant place to visit,it's been a few years since our last visit but it's on our list to re-visit very soon.
Watched this again this afternoon on my large tv in the front room even the wife was impressed.
Nice layout, plenty of details, excellent.
Nice layout, nice loco’s too. We all have our skills whatever it may be, I like the scenics. Chris
Nice layout and the sounds are great, love it. I will be watching this one again.
A great idea that has now been nicked for future requirements - thank you.😊😊
What a study in patience very robust construction. It just proves that you do not need a computer for everything but I cannot help but think what could be achieved with a computer cutting machine. Would it take longer to draw out the design you need or would it be quicker to draw on screen. A very good instructional video of techniques that we could loose to a computer - thank you.
A very interesting and comprehensive use of space. Makes my plans for my phase two look boring as far as track layout is concerned. This calls for a much needed rethink as to how I can incorporate the sidings and a decent fiddle yard. Keep up on the postings you have an awful lot to share with the N Gauge Community. Thank you.😊😊
Nice layout George, it will be nice to see it retored has you put it….lol
Anybody else notice the reference to `Trumpton` on the coal train?
Excellent video Mike, I like the construction method simple enough. My main problem is getting the dimensions in planning, I am not very good with that side of it. I do a lot of the Metcalfe kits has a result but I prefer plastic or styrene builds myself. Thanks again.
Thank you Chris for your kind comment
Nice details there Mike, and nice trains too, plenty of coal traffic. One of the best layouts seen on this virtual show too.
Thank you Chris, Hillsden wasn’t scheduled to appear this year but events took over
brilliant and great idea.. please do this more often..
well narrated and great layout i love all the works stuff the oil carriers plank waggons etc over all the passenger stuff and this layout didnt disapoint..
Looking forward to the Peak locos.
Yes I agree excellent layout love the snow effects. Chris
Some nice details on the layout, very nice. Chris
Nice layout, I can see why your not changing to dcc, a lot of work would be needed. Chris
Excellent layout NBodger. Such tidy modelling.
Thanks Nigel
I visited Fowey and Par on a school trip in 1964. It was a very distinctive landscape, everything was covered in white clay dust. It gave the place a washedout affect, rather like an underexposed photograph, but not unpleasantly so. Perhaps you could lightly airbrush some of the greenery in that area? Just to tone it down. I loved Lostwithiel station, it was beautiful. It was well tended back then, before they let it decay and rot away. It's a fantastic layout, preserve's a unique part of Cornwall's heritage. Well done!
Cracking layout. Well filmed too.
Thank you for your very kind comment, very much appreciated
Wow nice layout, wish I could run trains that long.
Nice layout, love the treacle mine and the terrace housings backing onto the railway.
