Children's clothing was always weird (and kids need sun protection too)
People have been complaining of inappropriate children's clothing since the 90's, probably further back too. It was weird back then when beauty pageants were even more unregulated, and it's weird now that people have the internet and should know better.
This video is in response to the excellent work of @Kaysaja who goes over a lot more of the studies and examples of these occurrences. I'm not talking directly to her in this video, but instead addressing issues of hearing the perspectives of other women without dismissing them as 'not feminist enough' simply because they do not align with a particular form of it that is very American consumer centric.

Wabi Sabi: a perspective on terminal illness
Просмотров 80Год назад
It should be noted that these are my opinions, research, and subsequent analysis of Wabi Sabi. I'm in no way an expert on the matter, but I have found the concept a useful framework to help analyse some of the feelings that comes with having multiple life threatening and shortening conditions, in a world where such philosophies are not generally accepted. Resources are listed in title cards in ...

there used to be ads in newspapers, popping up again and again over decades... "Send $5/10/15 and a stamped self addressed envelope and we'll send you our Guaranteed way to make money!" You'd get back a leaflet on how to put an ad into a newspaper and to quote the ad you read.......

I’m an old guy who was taught using the “Palmer Method.” Under this method, we were taught to “adopt a uniform system of cursive writing with rhythmic motions.” I rather enjoyed it. Yes, everyone’s style is different, but if taught correctly by teachers who want to teach and students who want to learn it, the result is effective written communication. Perhaps you are confusing the words “handwriting” and “penmanship.” I was taught penmanship, and the actual entry on our report cards was the word PENMANSHIP graded with the emphasis on LEGIBILITY. “Handwriting refers to the act of writing by hand, whereas penmanship is the ability to write legibly.”

In 2000, my partner's daughter learnt that shitty half cursive, half block lettering. It looked so fucking crappy, I personally complained to her teacher about it. The answer I got back was - "This Is The New Writing Style We Have To Teach". Talk about teaching down to the lowest common denominator. I ended up teaching her cursive myself. Her writing looked like mine, but with forward slant as she is right handed.

I'm left handed, and learnt cursive as a year 3, 8yo back in 1971. The following year, I had a year 4 teacher who made us all sit up straight whilst writing. The problem was/still is, trying to see what you are writing, is NOT POSSIBLE without leaning over as a left handed writer. I used to get my hands slapped with a ruler by that fucking teacher every time we had writing lessons. I was only ever able to partially mitigate the problem when I learnt to underwrite, by turning the page 45 degrees to the right and write down the page and underneath the writing. The result was perfectly formed, backward slanted writing, but much easier and less stress on my hand. If that year 4 teacher saw back slanted year 10 writing, she would have fainted. I'm now using my first fountain pen, having written with a mechanical pencil for most of my life. I don't care about left handed smudging all over the page, I regard it part of my writing style. The only fix for that is for me to write backwards as a mirror writer, my natural writing.

In Brazil we only write in cursive. The US use to only write in cursive. It’s more sophisticated and pretty. Imagine if you had been born in Japan and had to learn kanji? But learning 26 letters with 2 variations is child abuse? Smh…

Probably why I switched to a hybrid of script and print as soon as I left 8th grade Catholic school. My memories of cursive included my third grade teacher constantly turning my paper At ridiculous angles because I was left-handed. I was mad at her and would snap the paper back into the angle *I* liked it, right in front of her. She finally gave up. Haha. But the worst was 5th grade, when Sister Ellen spanked me on my butt in front of the entire class as I was doing a math problem on the board, because I didn’t make my “9” the way she wanted it. I pretty much gave up on religion that very day. Bunch of bullies is what they were. My handwriting is all over the place now because of how much I rebelled. But I can ise all kinds of fountain pens, dip pens, whatever I want, and I can make whatever kind of letters and numbers I want. And yes, focus on legibility. Not “pretty” or “fancy”. Save that for Christmas cards. :-).

School teaches cursive so the kids can be efficient at taking notes, it`s not about beauty or anything like that. If the kids` handwriting are illegible, that`s the problem with their parents or teachers not putting enough effort into teaching proper form, posture, etc., and obviously kids too busy doing kids shit instead of 15 minutes of exercises a day.

Except…this style also isn’t conducive to note taking. A proper script is legible, rapid, and pleasing to look at and use; while still leaving room for personalization. The standard cursive “taught” currently is none of these.

Wow, that is quite amazing. I know that these lice are actually evolved to only live on humans, and lice from other species, and even genital lice (ew), are much different. Lice used to carry a lot of diseases, but now they are mostly just an irritant. I'm glad you enjoyed my video :D

They are very intresting. Especially the "bond" between humans and lice. Did you know that it is thought that the reason why humans, (in young age) put their heads together to express love/affection is because to share head louse. These lice holds diseases that is very dangerous to us but they will give the kids the possibility to become immune to these dangerous pathogens. Then again, that is just a theory. But a very intresting one.
