Nivea scent reminds me so much of my childhood! Feels like every german household relies on Nivea for skincare, haha! I even have a Nivea perfume for when I don't use the cream, but want to smell like it, because it's soo pleasant! I know the lozenges you mentioned!! I was about to buy exactly these, but they weren't available without sugar at that time so I switched to the lemon ones. 😊

@@mariesjournal Nivea and Jergens almond cherry cream are the scents of MY childhood and lifetime as well. LOL 😂 I didn’t even know that Nivea made a perfume, I am going to have to try to find that! I literally am never without a tin of it in my bag. Never. I buy the large pots of Nivea and refill my little blue tin from it. I honestly think that I have had this same tin for probably 30 years? I know that sounds absolutely crazy but I replaced the one that I had when I was in Germany because I lost it when my bag was stolen in an airport. When it becomes empty, I simply wash it in hot soapy, water, let it dry and then refill the tin. There’s nothing better on the market. I certainly hope you are feeling better Maria. It’s hard to find those lozenges without added sugar, and the sugar free lemon ones are a good alternative. Take good care and have a happy day! ❤️ Jan

@@SerendipitySoulFluidArt I'm not sure if Nivea sells the perfume overseas, I hope they do! They also have a Nivea Sun Perfume, which smells like their sunscreen - it's SO GOOD!! I always use their sunscreen in summers and it takes me back to sunny days from childhood and overall good days so it's always an instant mood booster! 🌞 Let me know if you find it!

@@mariesjournal I’m going to go look for it NOW! I need some summer sunshine in my life! I don’t know if you have seen it on the international news or not, but hurricane Helene really devastated the area of Appalachia that I live in, including the hometown that I am from which is Erwin Tennessee. It has forever changed the terrain and the landscape of the communities here in the Appalachian mountains. It has been a very difficult month. And it’s been very stressful. I did not lose my home, we did have damage to our roof and a leak in our home that had to be repaired. But the community that my family is from was hit very hard and I know many people that lost everything. My heart has just been shattered for them. Sometimes it does not pay to be an empath - but to be honest, I don’t think I would change that about myself. there’s not enough kindness in this world, not enough empathy, not enough compassion. It hurts to see bad things happen, but we, as humans, should always strive to brighten the lives of others and make a difference. Got to go on a hunt for some of the Nivea cream and the Sun perfume!! Tschüss!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hey Jan! Aldi is great as well, because they have some amazing house brands (at least here in germany). We mostly stop at Lidl because it's the shop nearest to us (and they have the pepper rolls xD). Okinawa must have been a blast! Why did you have to leave? :o

@@mariesjournal we love our Aldi. Their house brands are indeed excellent and everything is always so fresh. And they carry many organic and vegan options. The pepper rolls will be something I keep an eye out for to try! My dad worked for the US Defense Dept (civilian not military but he was assigned to the Army Materiel Command and was stationed there, then we went to Cairo Egypt and then to Germany where he spent the last 22 years of his career). The three years we spent on Okinawa were magical and I really miss the culture. I met MY husband when I was Uni in German. He was stationed in Mannheim and after we married we returned to the US for his next assignment and then he was badly injured and retired a bit early for hospital care and treatment. He had kidney cancer but is now doing very well! I watched all of your videos last night - and today my mission is to go to Aldi and obtain Lebkuchen!! AND get ingredients to make Pho! It is cold here and nothing else sounds good to me. You need to post your recipes! 😋😋😋😋 Have a great day! Oh by the way my oldest granddaughter also plans to study Psychology at Uni! She is 16 and taking advanced Governor’s school courses through the local college while still in High School and she will graduate with 28 credits towards her degree. @@SerendipitySoulFluidArt Hope you find the pepper rolls! :D And I can agree with you: Aldi (and also Lidl) always have so fresh vegetables and fruits! Actually there are sometimes test purchases from news organisations or journalists that compare the quality of different supermarkets. Aldi and Lidl always come up Top 3 (mostly winning the race) even against competitors like the much more expensive Marktkauf, Rewe or Edeka. You've had a pretty exciting life so far! I'm so glad your husband is doing fine! Congrats to you granddaughter! No wonder you're proud <3 Thank you so much! My classes only start next year, so I will be having a lot of time to prepare for it. Do you speak german by any means? What did you study here? 🥰

@@mariesjournal we’ve settled into retirement and are very thankful for the life we’ve been blessed with. While my husband and I both have had some serious health issues we are both grateful for all the opportunities we’ve had that many people never experience. I speak enough German, French and Arabic to get me into trouble 😂😂😂 But in all seriousness, my parents always believed that when we lived in another country, we absolutely must do our best to learn enough of the language to communicate well, study the culture/history of the country and appreciate the differences between our cuisines. I learned to be an adventurous explorer and foodie - and I will forever be thankful that I did. Our experiences are what shapes our lives. Mine has been blessed. As one gets older, you truly begin to appreciate the value of the experiences that make up the tapestry woven into your life story. I made Pho for the first time in a while yesterday - I have been sick, like you, and I always crave comfort foods. My youngest granddaughter, who is nearly 5 years old, absolutely loves Ramen and noodles in any form. She gets it honest from her Nana 😂 When I was at the University of Maryland overseas, I was studying business administration and human resources management. I had classes between the Heidelberg campus and the Mannheim campus. I became a human resources manager for the Virginia department of health, and I retired from there in September of last year. I was also a pharmacy technician working in a local hospital pharmacy while I continued to finish my degree. I also have a passion for international cuisine, really good teas, baking/cooking and I am a voracious reader. I also really enjoy creating art. It is therapeutic a d I always seek ways to balance my mental health. I love mixed media, acrylics, watercolor and have explored many forms of creativity in my lifetime. What is life without hobbies and passions? Thank you for creating calming videos - I miss Germany and the lifestyle there very much. ❤️ Jan

I also stashed Lebkuchen, Weihnachtsplätzchen und zwei Stöllen! 😋😋😋 one of my favorite traditions is making Christmas cookies and both of my granddaughters love to bake with me so I am looking forward to this coming Christmas season very much. I guess overall, they can be read much better than in the video you commented on, since I also switched to another color and added stroke and shadow. I am from East Tennessee but live in Southwest Virginia. But spent many years overseas with my family before marriage and a family. We lived outside of Heidelberg and I worked in Mannheim and then Seckenheim while there. @@mariesjournal oh you are in Badden - Würtemmburg / Bavaria then!?!? My favorite part of living in Germany was taking every weekend to go out and explore a new town, a new village, to get out and absorb the culture and community. Such a beautiful mesh of cultures, cuisine, Art/craftsmanship and history - and lifestyles there are so much more oriented to healthy/well rounded living. I really miss that! Go see the castle in Schwetzingen! Explore Rothenburg! The Rhine valley is full of beautiful Schloss’s to explore and trails to hike or bike on! The smaller villages are where Germany came to life for us, truly. We always booked family BnB’s so we could get to know the community and find the best shops, scenery, learn the history and NOBODY puts a better Frühstück on the table than an Oma in her own BnB! We also used to love to go to Freiburg and then in to Strasbourg France. Often to the French and Swiss Alps also. One of my favorite places in the world is Grindelwald. There TRULY is no place more breathtakingly majestic! Ahhh now I have the travel bug again! 😂 Enjoy your Uni experience there and fill it with wonderful memories. @@SerendipitySoulFluidArt I live in Hessen, near Frankfurt and Mainz, but it's pretty close to Bavaria and also Northrine-Westphalia or Baden-Würtemberg. Also germany has a very convenient place in the EU, so you can drive north, south, east or west and end up in another country after a bit of time. 😂 German grandma's know how to put food on the table, I can tell you that! But I think this applies internationally. Omas are the best! I am originally from germany! And I already have a life here, so i want to stay. Also the quality of german education is pretty high, so I found this to be the best solution. 😊

@@mariesjournal my father‘s work very often took him to Frankfurt, Mainz and we LOVED that Germany was such a central point within the EU for travel - we took full advantage of that fact also! My husband was almost assigned to Mainz. Hessen forrests are perfect for volksmarching! I adored the Goethehaus, the Cathedral and also very much loved my many trips to the Städel museum! Oh sweet memories. ❤️ Hmmm now I am dreaming of another spa trip to Wiesbaden!!!! Germany absolutely has some of the best Uni’s in the EU! I am so happy you have found an outlet for your creativity through vlogging and that you have a clear vision for your career. You should be proud of yourself! You will be successful!
