@@scochronicles Retailers don't want to pay licensing fees to Apple or Samsung for the technology. But in the end, convenience and security are going to be overriding factors. NFC payments are far more safer than using physical credit cards.

Not obsolete, as it can be turned on in this system tomorrow if they wanted. They’re just stubborn as hell! They want you to use their app to pay so they can push Walmart+ to you over and over and over and over. Hell, that’s even the screensaver on the SCO!

@@personnesenki4521IIRC, it actually has to do with the credit card fees that Apple/Google Pay charges.

They have been adding a lot of large format, or belt self checkout options. It mostly depends on the areas it serves, if there are a lot of express to medium orders, and if it serves an area where the shrinkage rate is acceptable.

Ahaha no see the type of self checkout. Maybe there is the creamer, maybe there is the coffee or maybe it’s something else???

Yes. These are exact. Jewel does accept cash but have similar models and also the older version. Another key feature is that S&VT uses Zebra like this one while Jewel uses Datalogic & Honeywell.

Knowing this from Tom Thumb, they are transitioning to a video based system instead of a weight based system. Not all stores have it yet but I have seen how tremendous of a benefit it is when they changed it to video instead of weight. Thanks for sharing!
