The Layman Collector
Добавлен 6 сен 2023
I started collecting toys and wanted to share my thoughts about my collection with other enthusiasts. I'm not an expert, but a layman who is doing this because it helps me relax. Please note that I'm not a RUclipsr. I'm just a regular guy doing this for fun. I'm interested in hearing the opinions of others who like this sort of thing.
I'm not monetized and I don't put ads in my videos. If you're seeing ads it's because RUclips is doing it, not me.

Having fun nerding out with some friends who share similar interests. My friend ended up pulling out the original black and white comic from his collection and I cut the unboxing video short to discus the comics. However, I added some extra footage at the end to showcase the figures. Note: In the video I said the MSRP was $120 to $140 but I think it was more like $140 to $160.

Don't Buy This Crappy Ninja Turtles Casey Jones Action Figure 👎 😡
Man, I cant ever find anything, this looks good but it's never available, I wish stores could limit how many people can buy.
@@raganx7108 A limit at checkout is good but the fanatics will find a way to bypass it. The Hotwheels scene is crazy. I once saw these two guys walking back and forth into the back of a store (that should be for employees only) bringing out boxes they shouldn't be opening looking for specific cars based on serial numbers. Not sure if any limit will stop such people. I try to keep it relaxing and enjoyable. I've never found a treasure hunt or anything like that but I still find some nice things. Good luck to you. I hope you find some cool cars.
Nice I wanna open mine so bad. I just picked up the Mopar 5 pack as well
@@samelean9752 This is always a tough decision for collectors who want to keep their cars in the packaging. Actually, one of the reasons I make these videos is to show others the cars in detail outside of the bubble so they can see it in detail without having to open their own.
Thanks for the video!🎉
Our pleasure!
Awesome video 🎉
I have red one
Nice! I couldn't find the red one anywhere. I really wanted it and searched for a long time but eventually gave up.
Love the wheels😊
That looks sick man. I guess you like to collect these things? I am doing a collection too. But with 1:24 cars.
@@ezrachukwunyelu2927 yeah I enjoy collecting diecast cars. I have so many. I have a whole section just for the Corvette. The 1/24 scale models are much nicer than my smaller ones but I don't have enough space for that size.

@@saheerkhan1209 Nice!
I think the 1/32 Jada takes it for having the proper afterburner exhaust and that's a distinctive part of this Batmobile. Otherwise, the 1/50 is very close even if there are plastic tires. Even the Eaglemoss version has a mistake with the exhaut looking like a turbine fan and the outside portions of the engine with four tubes on each side instead of six like in the final version (the intro had four). There's not one toy or collectible that has 100% replicated the geometry because it is impossible. I do have the 1/32 but I wouldn't be mad for having the 1/50. But I'm a fool because I did pick the 1/24 scale version as well. It is a small anvil.
@@scolioreset You and me both (fools). I can't tell you how many times I saw something I already had in a specific iteration but wanted to buy it again because I thought: "But this version comes with the ____" The Jada 1/24 version comes with a hood that opens and slits/vents in the grill. I didn't pick it up when I saw it on the shelf due to trying to control my budget and to display space at home, but I'm itching to add it to the collection.
The cartoon based on the movie with Bill Murray was called "The Real Ghostbusters." The name was changed around season 4, and a 30-minute Slimer segment was added to the show because of the popularity of Slimer among children. The other cartoon was made by Filmation, which owned the rights to the name Ghostbusters. They made a live-action movie way back in 1975, and the filmation cartoon aired in 1986 to compete with the Real Ghostbusters cartoon.
@@SniffHeinkel Great information! I caught the Filmation cartoon in the 80s but the 70s film was before my time. I'm now going to have to find that film to watch it. My brother will also get a kick out of it since we used to watch the cartoon together. Thanks!
@@TheLaymanCollector No problem.
Just a heads up the title of your video is wrong. Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2 were released in 1984 and 1989. There weren't any Ghostbusters films in the 90's. Not trying to be a jerk. Liked your review just dot want you receiving and unnecessary criticism ☺️
No you're correct. I messed up the title. I'll fix it. I appreciate the heads up!
Can you tell me if there are official Hot Wheels lowered cars?
@@AlpacaAlbinaAfricana I'm not sure I understand the question. The car in this video is by Jada. I saw a Hotwheels version of this at a toy store but the Hotwheels was 4 times the price.
Just purchased the 92 Red Viper ! 👍
Nice! It's the best one out of all of them.
I ended up getting the Jada Ecto 1, DeLorean, and Jurassic Park Jeep and when I was looking for other Jada stuff, I noticed they also made Batmombiles. I have most of the 1/50 Hot Wheels Batmobiles, so I'm glad I found this video to help me decide if I even want the Jada Batmobiles since I have the Hot Wheels one.
I'm very happy to hear you found the video useful. This is exactly why I share. I have the Jada Ecto 1 and DeLorean as well (in 1/32). I saw the 1/24 Jada Ecto 1 at Walmart one time for $20 then never saw it again. I figured hey I have the smaller one and can't afford to buy indiscriminately. But in retrospect I should have bought it for my friend, who is also a fan.
I have tomica batmobile keychain
What is price and good or bad
Great!
Check out the original Deora and Deora 2. It’s a concept car that’s iconic in hot wheels history
Thanks!
Can I get one please
I think you should be able to find it online somewhere. I found it at a market randomly.
Never seen a diecast mountain bicycle thanks for sharing🙂
Yeah it was my first time seeing one when I picked this up. It goes well with my other toys because it's so unusual and adds something different to the collection. Thanks for the comment!
Crazy details on them awesome 🫶
eagle moss have the best design but sadly the wheels don't roll which really sucks
I haven't seen those but I'll look for it. I won't buy it though because I need my wheels to move.
Eaglemoss is strictly collector pieces meant for display. IMO it’s not a contest between the Jada and Hot Wheels. For the same price you get more car and the Jada comes with a mini diecast Batman figure. It’s not even close.
How to buy this product
I found it at a kiosk in an outdoor market while on vacation. I'm not sure where you live but try searching ebay. Maybe someone has it.
Awesome police car collection! I have the exact same colored 1981 Chevy Impala police car in my collection too!
Thanks! I also recently picked up an 80s Chevy Caprice police car. I saw a bunch in Target. Be on the look out for it if you're near a target and interested in another boxy black and white 80s police Chevy.
@@TheLaymanCollector Nice! I have included my '81 Impala in some miniature drive-in movie theater dioramas for movie night on Wednesdays and Saturdays, mainly 1980s movies. The rule is, I can only include a vehicle in the drive-in diorama if it would’ve been existent at the time of the original release of the movie I'm watching on movie night. In the case of the 1981 Impala, I can only include that in a drive-in if it's set No earlier than the Autumn of 1980, which is when the 1981 model year started production. Tonight (Wednesday, July 3, 2024), I'm gonna watch "Scarface", which was originally released to theaters on December 9, 1983. By that point, the 1981 Impala would’ve been a few years old, and would still have been considered a modern police car.
@@77PacerStudios That's a very meticulous and logical design. I really like that you keep it aligned to a realistic vehicle production timeline. 👍
@@TheLaymanCollector Thanks! In a way, the drive-in movie theater diorama going with the movie can be considered a means of time travel! The movie, the drive-in of period-correct cars, and even period-correct songs would be the essentials for bringing the timeframe to life!
Existe na scala 1:18 da mesma?
No not right now. But maybe in the future Jada will make a 1:18 scale.
I hope many people got these latest cars
These are not really rare but pretty popular so people always pick them up as soon they're on the shelves.
Ye I saw a bunch of them on stock in Walmart and I bought the all off stock
Wow that's lucky! When it comes to these Hollywood castings I usually only see one or two at a time. Half of the time the shelf is bare and has none. I guess it just depends on where you are.

It’s a finger mountain bike make jumps for it
I've seen those finger skateboards but this is my first exposure to diecast bikes. I'll have to look into this. Thanks for the tip!
Hi . I was wondering if you also collect fire trucks and ambulances or civilian vehicles too?
I only have 2 or 3 firetrucks and ambulances. I have a ton of civilian vehicles - mainly 80s and 90s models, which I consider the best two decades for nice looking cars (probably just due to my age). Are you into first responder, fire, and ambulance vehicles?
I wanted this one at first but that was before the Wolverine 97 once that one came out I knew it was better
It it I have it
You have the better one in my opinion. This one is based on a comic but the reason I wanted it is because it looks similar to the '90s cartoon version. The version you have also has extra hands and a cooler alternate head.
You have a cool channel BTW. I just subscribed.
Random question, do you prefer 1/64 premium hotwheels or the 1/50 models?
I don't have too many in the 1/50 scale. Quality wise they offer the same detail and material but personally I prefer the 1/64 premium for a few reasons: 1. They're slightly cheaper 2. They don't take up as much space 3. They're easier to find in stores 4. They're easier to display next to other brands. It's hard to match the 1/50 scale with other vehicles. They look too small when you put them next to the 1/32 scale vehicles and too large next to the 1/64 scale vehicles. I make an exception for aircrafts. I prefer the larger 1/50 because I want them to be bigger than my 1/64 cars. How's your collection? What kind of vehicles are you collecting?
@@TheLaymanCollector thanks for the detailed answer. I'm the same guy who requested the video of the jada batmobile vs hotwheels one. Speaking of my collection I mostly focus on batmobiles though I make exceptions and sometimes buy hotwheels that I find worthy of collecting. I have 3 1/24 jada batmobiles. Which are pretty big. I have 4 1/32 jada batmobiles. And then about 18 or something hotwheels batmobiles. 5 of them are premium models. I considered buying the 1/50 models, but they are extremely hard to find and expensive in my country, besides they are not metal/metal like the premiums. I also have some old hotwheels ferrari models in almost mint condition. I love them a lot especially now that hotwheels lost the rights to make them.
@@ghostmetal6251I have a similar amount of Batmobiles. Like you I started off with Batmobiles but slowly started getting into other vehicles, and now I collect all kinds of stuff. Maybe you too will eventually end up with a police fleet, some Batwings, and so on 😅
Cool collection where did you get them from
I got some from Target and some form Walmart. The only exception is the Blackbird (X-Jet) which I bought online from another collector.
Oh and the Star Wars one was actually in a 3-pack which I found at Marshalls (out of all places).
Nice collection! Yes, the scale of jets to cars is off, but I still love love love that I can have the X jet and the batwing that size. Cheaper too! ALSO, that viper is from the 1990s TV show "viper," right? Aaaand, that helicopter is from BLUE THUNDER (the 1980s TV show / movie) but with different colors! so I think you have two additional movie tv vehicles! The Mandalorian (star wars) ship is called the RAZOR CREST. Wish I had it!! hard to find, you could sell it for quite a bit.
Wow you know alot about this stuff. My knowledge is limited to only a few things like TMNT, X-Men, Batman etc. I have a bunch of police cars in 1/64. Some of them are from film and TV. I think you'd really like them I'll make some videos of those next. I also have the Fred Flintstone Mobile and the Jetsons Space Car in 1/64. Regarding the X Jet. I'm super happy to have it despite the plastic wings. It's something I've always wanted. I'm not sure if you have it or not. I don't know if they make them anymore but you can probably find an old unopened one on Amazon or eBay.
Nice comparison bro. I would like to suggest another jada vs hotwheel comparison if you don't mind me
I did a similar comparison with the animated series Batmobile here: ruclips.net/video/J1AFQy5mKLo/видео.html I am definitely open to suggestions. Which other ones do you think I should I compare?
@@TheLaymanCollector I really would like to see the 1/32 justice league batmobile of jada compared with the hotwheels one. I don't know if you own those models. But I will suscribe to your chanel so when you can make that comparison I will the first one to watch it! By the way, I forgot to mention that the jada 89 batmobile is way more accurate to the movie than the hotwheels model. Which is another bad point for the hotwheel ones. They take too many liberties with the design. From the wheels, to the front lights.
@@ghostmetal6251 I don't have the Justice League version yet but I'm eventually going to get both the Hotwheels and Jada. I'll make a video once I do. Regarding the original film: you're definitely right. I went back and watched it again and the Jada one is definitely way more accurate than Hotwheels! I'm very happy with the Jada Batmobiles so far.
You can find that Wolverine at Burlington stores for $7.99 now. I picked up two today.
That's an amazing deal! I would've purchased 2 as well if I found it for that price. Where I am everything disappears off the shelves quickly and I can never find deals like that. People here consider themselves lucky when they find these things at the MSRP. Which state are you in?

Yes, I don't mention it in this video but the red is an all new casting. It's slightly smaller but overall their best version yet.
