Just look at the uninterested deadbeats in the front row. What-a shame. Such an iconic song.
That was perfection.
❤❤❤❤
A great tune with great musicians.
One of the Beatles most brilliant songs. A real treat to have their psychedelic period tunes performed live by Paul and his band.
On top of everything else the Beatles innovated, this is considered the first Heavy Metal song. It came out in 1968!
This was actually written by John. But they did harmonize on it. Brilliant pop rock song! 👏🏻🎸😎
What a Legacy! He’s in his sixties here! Who rocks in their sixties? Amazing! 👏🏻🎸😎
Rest In Peace Mike Nesmith he will seriously be missed along with Peter Tork and Davy Jones.
Ist music videos. Such still a huge following RIP Wool Hat I will ser you again
I noticed micky was what Davy used to play instead of drums.
My feeling especially Mike, Peter and Micky, often David are not idle at all, more often playing musical instruments singing their Monkees catalogue than not; I contemplate perhaps it's attributed to those early accusations from critics ("don't play your own instruments", "can't play", "pre-fab"...) and others who didn't know, didn't have a clue, how wrong they were about The Monkees series from the beginning.
RIP Mike, Peter and Davy. 🙏💜🙏
Bless his soul. A great introduction to rock and roll! I am blessed to have seen him in my days!
One of my favorites...
Rest in peace Mike.
This is all the more poignant for those of you fans who saw this show or watch this video if you look at the videos from the show at the Greek Theater just a couple of nights ago which is on RUclips and which I attended. They're of course there is no Peter because Peter has passed away, and Mike who is almost 70 here is almost 80 now and couldn't play the guitar, so that final performance of Mike and Mickey shows a big difference between Mike and Mickey and Peter. the monkeys are great and it's so sad when you think of them being gone.
I see my daughter !
I was there. Brilliant!
The banjo really makes this song.
Thank you for sharing it !!!!!
Very intertaining!
Don't like the female voices in it. I think it completely ruins it 😒
I'm still in love with Mike; always will be 💙😍💙
Interesting that Peter performed this with Davy and Micky some years earlier and gave a far more memorable performance. Never thought that Peter would wind up out-singing Mr. Nez...THAT is unusual. But kinda cool.
Are you kidding? This is delightful. Mike has a different style, but he's all in here. You mention it was some years earlier. I hope you realize that age has an effect on the voice as well as health. Not fair to compare a younger performance to an older one.
@@rachelharvey9346 Yes I do understand the age thing, being someone who sings and is around their age. Micky's voice seems remarkably like he did when he was a half century-ish younger. And Michael has always sounded pretty consistent and great, tho I recall he himself saying he can't do the really high notes he used to do so (in my opinion) masterfully). Michael certainly sounded great on the GOOD TIMES songs. The Peter Tork performance I was thinking about (re Peter/Mike comparison) was done in the 1990's....I think. I didn't mean to be harsh on Mike.I was just talking about one performance of his, of the one song.
@@RSEFX sure, makes sense. I recently saw him in the Farewell tour and they very masterfully worked around his vocal changes. You will see he has aged quite a bit and doesn't play the guitar.. but he's still the open hearted, funny, talented guy we've always loved. He literally looked at the audience at the end of the Seattle concert when the others had all left the stage, and he said "Look at you all, you are so happy". I agree, he had such amazing high notes back then (esp in Love is Only Sleeping). But just glad he and MIckey are still going at it.
@@rachelharvey9346 Thanks for the note. I've long been a fan of these guys, even in my "hippie" days when they were getting a lot of (unjustified) flack, some of it---or a LOT of it----set into motion by Don Kirscher, who had a major stake in keeping them "under control". Yes, LOVE IS ONLY SLEEPING is quite the performance. Also his singing skill/range with WAX MINUTE (which he'd kind of forgotten how it went, but was willing to rehearse and then perform live in front of a large audience in 73-ish for the Amazing ZigZag concert. Stunning.) I wonder why he stopped playing his guitar, tho I suspect it might be due to something like arthritis. Do you know anything about that? I did a little work for him on his TV PARTS back in the 80's, and enjoyed meeting and chatting with him a bit. I still struggle to sing like him. Not easy, not easy at all.
@@RSEFX I love his voice so much, it's just perfect for me. Lucky you for getting to meet and work with him. This was my first time being in the same room with him and it was incredible. I will check out WAX MINUTE.
Olivia was there as well. You can see her at 0:29. She's right next to Yoko...
He sounds fantastic for his age
I was at that show!! Great show.
And the bodyguard has a fake right hand, his arm under his jacket ready to shoot...
You see Yoko’s bodyguards blocking the view to a few fans...
One of my fave Monkees tunes! Jealous watching this so many years later.
Somehow I feel there is a connection between the girl singer and Dolenz.
dennis.srq the female singer is Micky’s sister, Coco
That’s his sister!
Front row with the boys, Yoko and Shawn with George Martin. Can't get better than that!!
It s not Martin
@@hypno-mireMartin was there
Mike sings too much like a country singer, but this is one of my favorite songs along with "Sometime In the Morning", "Your Auntie Grizelda", "Daydream Believer" & 6 other songs! Thanks for this live performance, though it sounded too Mexican & country
My dear, Mike WAS a country singer! He was a country-rock pioneer!
He wrote the song so he gets the final say in how it's done.
front row!!! I loved it. Lifelong dream.
Quality 😎😎
I'm in the front row!!! YES
Those body guards blocking the view!!!
Great! But sure do miss that British guy
Eve Saizan watch your mouth, because apparently you don't understand that Nez has a solo career too, which he tours for as well. He didn't join them just because "oh well Davy's gone, why don't I join" no, he joined because he wanted to commemorate being with the guys, somewhat as a tribute to his former band member who he respected very much. Don't call Nez an a-hole when he did absolutely nothing wrong.
fridaythe13thkid Agreed. Obviously these guys care deeply for eachother. They were put together for a TV show and were then forever bonded. Nez is vey accomplished on his own. And I'm glad they each found a way to have a career away from the Monkees. Sadly - the R&R Hall of Fame hold up their noses when the Monkees get mentioned - they've contributed much more to music and Pop culture than many of those who have already been inducted.
This is just so WRONG. No Davy. And Mike decides to finally join the guys after Davy dies?? What an a-hole.
I was at this concert! Cried like a baby when he played this. lol
i like how nancy rocks :D lady McCartney rocks all the way
Sean, Yoko and their bodyguards aren't dancing
Notice those bodyguards in suits and white shirts form Yoko and Sean...
Is it Paul pretending to play? I can't see any wire
wireless
Yes I was their also, hit all the Cali concerts, as well as a few others. It was just as good as it gets. The 2013 tour was even belter tighter it was all just something I will never forget..... Anyone with good video of the 2012 or 2013 please contact me, This is to cool. Sbbasiacab@yahoo.com Thanks and kick our some live Monkees
Sean and Yoko in the audience near the front!
I Was SO there!! :) and this was one of the most special songs/moments of the night! :) I was just so happy :) can't believe it's been 2 years already!
My mistake...
Peter sang it in G. Mike sang it in F
