HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) Boat Build Part 1
Просмотров 88 тыс.10 месяцев назад
In the spring of 2023 my dad and I started building a boat out of HDPE or High Density Polyethylene. I had the idea in my mind for years but couldn’t find the right size and wall thickness of pipe. Finally I acquired the correct pipe and it didn’t take long to get started on the build. I have enough pipe to do one small “Test” boat to work out all the bugs and another larger boat as a final pro...
Gritin 4 in 1 Selfie Stick Review
Просмотров 31710 месяцев назад
This is the Gritin 4 in 1 selfie stick that can be found on Amazon. All in all, I am happy with it. It is exactly what I expected for the price I paid. It is simple and functional. I do really like the removable remote. The only downside is that the top does not swivel and the entire tripod needs to be turned to change the angle. But for my purposes it is just what I needed. Only time will tell...
Front Load Washer Breakdown and Dismantle - Troubleshooting and repair of washer.
Просмотров 15710 месяцев назад
In this video I completely breakdown and dismantle a front load washing machine. I do my best to explain each component, what it does and what can go wrong. All of this in an attempt to help people learn how to trouble shoot a washing machine that's not working. I will do follow up videos that will explain each individual component deeper. I hope this helps, but if you have questions or want so...
QualyQualy 10 Person Ice Fishing Tent Part 2
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.10 месяцев назад
Alright! I finally got out and did some adventuring with the QualyQualy 8-10 person ice fishing tent, and it did not disappoint. There is tons of room, the insulation is great. Once I had the heater going I could turn that tent into a sauna. The materials seem quality but only time will tell for sure. The zippers are heavy duty. The total weight of the tent is 72lbs and I can carry it by myself...

I will continue to use them and test them, if I find any short comings I will update this video. Please comment If there is a question you have or test you want to see performed and I will do my best to get you answers. Link to the product below. TeoT...

Dont know if your planning on adding flotation but two part foam can and will absorb water over time if you get a leak. Two part foams are NOT waterproof. Contact the manufacturers, they will tell you it's not. I would suggest you contact "life proof" boats in bremerton wash, they use a Polethylene foam to make foam, collars for their aluminum boats. They have a fair amount of excess foam that they grind up into approx 1" size. they sew these into fiberglass bags and stuff them under the floors of their self bailing design. they have BAGS and BAGS of ground up foam they might likely give you. You could cut access holes in the top of your tubes and stuff then with this foam and that would give you flotation in case of a crack. the foam they use is very water resistant and is chemically resistant. Or you could use polyethylene pool noodles or packing material, lots of things come with it, refrigerators etc.... I love your thinking on doing doing something like this project.!!!!!!!!!!

I've done a little bit of HDPE work (waterline for the company I work for, about 2000' in total so a decent understanding of butt fusion) cool project for sure and nice work on the bow. if i might add, i also worked in collision repair for a little bit, and when we would plastic weld most things we would taper the weld joint a little bit and melt a piece of steel mesh in there and then add filler to add a lot of strength. not sure how that works as you get to thicker materials like it looks like you're using, but might be worth looking in to.

Nice to see good effort, the temperatures for HDPE welding are tricky because it will depend on your welding speed. Especially for hot-air or extrusion welding. But in general, you can use 220-230°c buttwelding, pressure depends on the welding surface. For extrusion welding the plast 220-230°c the hot-air 280-300°c.

I mean your method is stellar & well done.... I'm here thinking about building a house boat type of vessel & saw this. I hadn't seen this material so I've subb'd Up to LQQK a bit deeper. peace

I would advise a good sanding and a thick layer of fibreglass after to hold the whole structure integrity in case of bad welding. But otherwise that is some DIY great idea to build your own boat 👍

I thought HDPE and Epoxy Resin don't really stick well together. The chemical make-up of HDPE doesn't really allow it. Sounds like a recipe for delamination.

I'm my personal experience these plastic welded HDPE items or bumpers are not strong at all. They have very poor flex when cold and Crack on the welds.

I forgot about this boat. It's great to get an update and see it coming together. When I first saw this, I thought it was excessive and probably weighs a ton, but then I thought about how indestructible this thing is going to be. This method would be great for a jetboat because it's tough enough to take heavy rock hits, but it would bounce back to its original shape rather than denting heavy aluminum plate. Looking forward to the next update in 2025🤣😘👏

Nice idea .. it’s a job but a good one. One question.. do you make air vents in the tube sections. I’m almost sure over pressure due to temperature change will make the welds weak eventually.

It wouldn't hurt to fill the tubes with high density expanding foam it would add rigidity to the pipe so you wouldn't have any joint failure an would add very little extra weight

Just found this, so my advice is way too late. Invest in a strip heater and try to keep all your welds on the suports. You can get a tacking tip and speed tip for your welder, which will give you a stronger weld as the slower you go will release more oil, reducing the penatration and weakening the weld. A vee scraper can be found at most paint suppliers and acidtone for cleaning the welding rode and weld surfaces after scraping them. Remember to rescrape when adding a new weld over an old one. The strip heater can bend nice 50×50 angle witch can be used for stringers.

ive been a plastic fabricator for the past 7 years building polypropylene fire tanks and am currently working on a boat build myself , id invest in a leister welder to go over those beads and get it water tight. or use a real hand torch made for plastic . the leister hand torches are like 500 bucks but i know those sheets of hdpe are big money so i wouldnt cheap out on what your sticking them together with .
