I called 112 cause there was a fire close to my house, i called for the fire department, but after 10 min waiting, the police showed up instead. They were mad at the fire department cause they took almost more than 10 minutes to send them over. They saw the fire took care of it (luckily if wasn't too big). After like 1 hour later the fire fighters showed up cause apparently it wasn't fully extinguished and other people also called for them So better said: Police: chill Fire department: not so much The worker on the phone was very rude

Yeah i think many of our police are chill. There are always exceptions of coarse. A friend is in training right now and there is a lot of emphasis in his training to deesculate and educate, not intimidate or arrest needlessly. But they arent afraid to *shame* you. A few years back i saw someone steal a bag and ig he had done that before bc when the cops detained him, the lead officer said "you really want to dissapoint your mother? You will break her heart, do you realize? Shame on you. Shame, such a shame." And the guy apologized, gave the bag back to the shop owner who accepted the apology but only if he promised to go right home instead of staying out and in trouble. Idk if he actually went home but the lead cop spoke to him as they walked away Edit: i saw some americans commenting in other threads and just wanna add, for clarification: our police do not recieve insentive or bonuses etc for arrests because imprisonment is not the goal. My friend who is in training recieves classes on psychology and the affects of prison- we know prison is not a solution in 95% of cases and only increases the issues people experience or breeds solidarity during misery which is not affective or something to feel good about accomplishing

I (as a Dutch person) was sitting in a meadow very close to a highway waiting for a friend to pick me up, as google maps had made a mistake with navigating and wanted me to cross the highway while walking. I wasn't risking that, so i waited there. People thought it was dangerous that I was so close to the highway and called the police. The officers were very chill and even offered to bring me to the spot i had originally wanted to go to, which they did. I like the police in our country. Very nice and cool people :)

Most of the Dutch Police men and women are really nice but one time i was on my bike omw to the station and i was really late so i sprayed perfume cause i had no time to shower. The cop tought it was my cell phone and gave me a ticket and i was 150 euros lighter

Meanwhile they gave me a 60 euro fine for not having a light on my bike which I saw and got up from the bike 5 meters after leaving the house. On top of all they were complete assholes 😌
