    July 2024- I just want to take a second to point out the video was recorded almost 3 years ago when the price of the visor was $20 and $12 shipping for the passenger side visor. I scoured the internet to find that price and was happy to find it for that low price at allmoparparts. The driver side with the garage door controls was significantly higher. Now, that same visor part number has increased to $126 through the same vendor! Wow. Inflation really is in effect on that part. Anyway, I just want to give people a heads up on this. Thanks for your support and have a good one.

      Inflation. I’ve heard it’s went up….A LOT! Crazy. I paid that low price almost 3 years ago now. Even then, the driver side with the garage door controls was significantly more making the passenger side feel like a steal of a price. I went ahead a pinned a post letting viewers know. At least the information on the visor replacement procedure and the addition of the TACCOM clips is still useful.

    The noise they made coming out, put anti seize on them

    • @odysseyusa
      @odysseyusa Месяц назад

      NGK specifically state not to due to a special coating applied. The plugs I installed are the factory plugs so they seem to agree. Also, when you apply anti seize, you inhibit the ability of the plug to transfer heat from the plug to the cylinder head and the coolant flowing through them. This will lead to a hot plug, increased wear, and possibly preignition at worst. The squeak isn’t anything to be concerned about.

    Do you have to disconnect the battery prior to replacing spark plugs?

    • @odysseyusa
      @odysseyusa Месяц назад

      I did not but it’s generally good practice to disconnect the battery when working with anything electrical like connectors. Having done this for years, I’ve not had a bad experience leaving them on for something like this but I probably should have. These newer vehicles can be finicky and it only takes another minute to disconnect them.

      Oh I’m hoping that switching up my oil viscosity can stave that off for a long time. I’ve been running what’s considered a thick version of 5w-30, Valvoline Extended Protection High Mileage. It’s got a strong additive pack too. Needing to do an oil change the other day and after more research on the BITOG forum, I’ve decided to try the Mobil 1 European Car FS 5w-40. Man! It’s so quiet now! The main thing with the 3.6 rocker failure issue is thermal breakdown. These newer cars need a higher HTHS, high temp high shear rating. Manufacturers’ primary care is to get you past the warranty period. I hope the video helps you out. Have a good one.👍🏼

    • @odysseyusa

      @odysseyusa Месяц назад

      That’s great to hear I was of help. It’s not unusual to hear a whining noise from the transmission when it’s really low due to air being drawn up through the filter and into the pump. How many KM/miles did the fluid have on it? Was it considerably dark?

    Can you put a little bit of Anti seize on the threads, that sound is cringing .

    • @odysseyusa
      @odysseyusa 6 месяцев назад

      NGK recommends against it. As a former engine machinist/builder, it’s normal for them to be a little sticky but be sure not to cross thread them. I would not use a ratchet until a few threads were properly engaged. Then torque to spec. Using anti seize lowers friction. The torque wrench works on resistance. Lowering resistance will put you higher on torque to the spark plug than spec’d. Any lubricant will. All that said, it’s up to you. If you put any on, set the torque wrench to the minimum torque spec at least.

    • @odysseyusa
      @odysseyusa 6 месяцев назад

      Also, anti-seize will hamper the plugs ability to transfer heat from the plug to the cylinder head that is supposed to happen to make the plug run cooler.

    I'm gonna be a little heavy on the questions lol I've been following your build for a few years on the forums, interesting that you chose to go to the kenda after running the Baja boss at. I'm running kendas on mine, 35x12.50r17, and my next tire I wanna look at was the Falken Wildpeak RT or the Baja boss at. How do you like the kenda compared to the Baja boss? Mine have this small issue where they seem to flat spot but my kendas are lasting a long time. They're around 14/32nds of tread and about 30k miles so far on them. What's that rear quarter storage bag? I like the idea of it and have some tools I'd wanna keep up in there. I was debating between the ox or an eaton and ended up doing the eaton and 4.56 combo, but do you have any issues with the RCVs slinging grease? Next thing for my jeep is going to be shafts and steering. revkit.com/cptfloridaman/ I'm also on the forum with that username.

    I'm thinking about doing this Rd / trail on our trip in about a week. Do you think I'll have any trouble in a stock TRD off road Tacoma? Was there any mud to worry about? Was that part where you disconnected the sway bars the most difficult? We are thinking of doing it from South to North which I think is the opposite of how you did, any comments on that? How long did it take?

      I don’t think you’ll have any issues doing this trail in your Tacoma. We didn’t encounter much mud at all, maybe a couple of inches, and it was toward the end on flat land. I’d say the point I disconnected was the most technical and I’d only foresee issues if it were wet. We went from East Hwy 44 to Bombing Range Rd and we took our time. An hour to hour and a half maybe? The track is a total of 5.9 miles long. Thanks for the support and I’m happy the information in the video is helpful to you. 👍🏼

    same sparkplug for any 2 liter ? (2018-2023 ) ?

    • @odysseyusa
      @odysseyusa Год назад

      Always verify but to my knowledge all years of the JL 2.0 to this point take the same spark plug whether it’s in the 4xe, 2.0 eTorque, or the standard 2.0L ESS (Engine Start Stop) version.

    This is a great video. It doesn't have any closeup of faces, etc. Not that your face wouldn't be a good one to see, but when I have to look at closeups of travelers faces, I tend to not watch the video. I am not of the selfie generation - I like my faces and my own face at a distance. I used to make this drive often as I taught music to the kids in Interior for a few years - and would drive the backroad non-tourist roads in the badlands. I see the state or someone made great road improvements on the road 'up'; when we drove it, it was an awful road, but I see the road AT the tops looks like the very same fine -dust road. The better approach road now is a good thing but it also makes it easier for more people to visit the 'top' and I have always worried that it would become too popular and would be ruined by tons of tourists. I see that is not the case... yet. Good! Thanks again!

      Thanks! Yeah, what I did here isn’t the trendy way but it’s just how it happened. I’m glad you got something from it. I really enjoyed the Badlands and Black Hills region, more than others I visited on our big trip West.

    I watched the whole video and I think RUclips ate my comment. It was such an amazing meet up and I can't wait for the fall meet up. We'll also have a red river gorge meet up in fall if you're available. Thanks for showing the cave. I never went that far into it.

    Bro this was awesome great job. The mic popping in and out of frame is a common problem for GoPro users. There are a few things you can do to mitigate it. Thanks so much for sharing this

    Update 6/8/2023- With the current Mopar plug shortage for the 2.0, I’ve heard the NGK part number NGK 90219, sku ILZKR7G7G Laser Iridium spark plug is the same plug (NGK is the Mopar supplier)

    what a stunning place! I need to get to the Black Hills, thank you for showing us this campground and it sounds like a really awesome place to stay, I love those lake views and the trailhead was looking really good too. Great views all around from that walk, I love those pine trees and rocks.. Thank you for picking up the bottle too.

      Although I’ll want to mix it up on the campsite we pick in the region when we go back, I definitely want to do some hiking from there. It’s such a convenient location to hit many popular points of interest from those trails!
