Andy really wants to sleep, but he's scared the world is at odds with him. A contained, introspective and emotionally fragile short.
Despite the beautiful shots, the real beauty is the silence and dark shot where we're challenged on where we go next. A really poetic and personal few moments where we're given an insight into another's deeply personal moments.
I expand on it in my review (announcement) of the film's release, but this one definitely comes from the place I am right now with former relationships as I work towards closure. It's a very personal piece

2:08 is an incredible shot. lots of shots i love here. i don’t tend to go in for stuff this abstract and conceptual with the actual cinematic language, but this has a really neat and pleasant mood, the blur from the rain and the distortion of the light are reminiscent of some japanese ASMR i’ve seen recently. the juxtaposition of the road and the microwave are funny in a way just because, like, microwave, but also creates a feeling with the void of the road and the timer counting down, and on top of it serves that nice transition. great work dude. genuinely one of the more rewarding short films i’ve seen.
My deepest apologies about only just seeing this comment, but I thank you for your words immensely! The distorted visual style was something I really loved being able to capture in the actual rain (although I was very cold and wet, as you can imagine!), but I got very lucky in just feeling the rhythm of these shots on the night! There was no plan when I started shooting, and a lot of this was just improvised camerawork across around an hour in the early hours of December 12th, which was the day of release as well! I felt very passionate about finding the subtleties of the visual language and seeking to convey how what we see can often hide what we need, and sometimes even guide us on a path to greater enlightenment! I do wish some moments, in retrospect, had considerably tighter editing as the shots, in their long take nature, do sometimes almost exceed their welcome, but I am very proud of the ideology behind my personal direction, and I feel humbled by your comment about this being one of the more rewarding short films you've seen! Thank you for watching, and I hope you check out the next short film when it releases! I've taken a slight hiatus to focus on life and write a feature length script, but I have a majority of shots, from the past few months, ready for my next short film! It's just a matter of when I edit!
