    I appreciate your videos. I am a big fan of 2-2 “help” work however I wouldn’t be sure I would ever use this. I think the help typically would happen from baseline up versus 3 point line to help on ball. (Not always but easily more often) Those drops are more times the player that helps the defender that helps on the ball and they would be getting steals or disrupting the open player.

      Thanks for sharing! Totally makes sense. Maybe it would be good to use if you ever want to throw something in your practice plan to get the athletes competing while also enforcing basic help concepts!

    Love it. Thanks for unpersonalising your personal drill. You are right. Shell in the kids' minds is boring. This would work as entry point into a score until defensive rebound kinda game I think. Would be good if you can demo this with players and have them communicate as well.

      I usually then have the elbow screen being set on the opposite side of the elbow (just tell screener to read and react), and then continue to run the FLEX on the other side of the court. Additionally, you could run the same action as that first screen isn’t super important!

  • @retroballer7166
    @retroballer7166 20 дней назад

    Decent and basic press break but I would stress that the motion of the break is VERY secondary to teaching the skills to make it work. Coming to the ball, squaring up, leading the man with the pass, setting proper screens, not dribbling through the press, throwing baseball passes, inbounder running the baseline, pushing off, dribbling under pressure etc etc. The issue with these videos is coaches watch it and think this is the solution to beating the press and then it fails miserably because you didn't invest the hours to teach. A break taught in 10 minutes doesn't solve anything.

    • @OnlineBballAcademy

      Of course! Coaches have to teach the basics before you can get into the plays, especially when we are dealing with youth teams.

    Why put in so much effort just to get a mid range shot? Id imagine with this level of effort, we are setting up a play for a shot near the hoop. I have never been trained so sophisticatedly. Could you share more of your wisdom? Thanks

      @OnlineBballAcademy Месяц назад

      Hey! Thanks for reaching out. This is a play that the San Antonio Spurs would often run for Tim Duncan, who was very efficient from that spot. So this is a play that you could use if you have a great mid range shooter on your team!

    • @springgun
      @springgun Месяц назад

      @OnlineBballAcademy thanks for the reply. Is it typical for teams to set up plays for mid range shooters? I just feel that no matter how good they are, the % is still @+/-50% for midrange. Is it worth it? Why not set up plays for deeper shots? Thanks

    • @OnlineBballAcademy
      @OnlineBballAcademy Месяц назад

    To help make it Conceptual at 11:03 If 3 uses the Flex screen from 4, 4 can then use the down screen off 1. If 3 uses the down screen from 1 instead, then 1 can use the Flex screen from 4. A lot of other options you could do. But that’s just a standard conceptual offensive idea.

    Not so easy if you have defenders who can switch easy. #4 didn't move down just the screen sign, from there #4 has to move up to create space in the layup area and to do the second screen. Spaceing and timeing is important.

      Has to be run fast if you are playing against advanced teams. I tried it with my high school team after watching, worked well but has to be rapid to avoid switches against strong defense. Good play though got a layup from it
