What I Know About Life (so far): Inner Peace and My Winter of Healing

Unschooling is Life: Why I'm always talking about myself

My channel is supposed to be about unschooling. So why am I always talking about myself?! In this (somewhat repetitive) rant, I'll tell you why sharing my personal journey, building this new life for myself, is exactly what unschooling is about. It is about leading by example: living your life the way you want your kids to live theirs. If they see me working hard, and failing and trying again, ...

Enough of this Winter of Healing nonsense, it is time to get down to business! I will have 6 months to build a tiny house on wheels for myself and my kids to live it, so I need to get started!! But I can't decide on my foundation. Should I build on a $200 30 foot repurposed RV trailer? Or on a $10,000 purpose built, 28 foot tiny house trailer? Should I prioritize money or payload? Hello from BC! Wow, you are so inspiring! My heart ached for you in a previous video where you were trying to get an RV going at your ex husband's place, I believe. It brought to mind moments where.....all you can do is weep...and pray...and pick yourself up and keep going. Your story is so relatable and precious- from rock bottom moments, I'm sure, to building a dream and moving onward and upward. May God bless you and your children and your lovely home, AND your home school!

    Thankyou so so much for this channel and for being brave enough to share the vulnerability ❤ We are across the world, but I can relate so much!... Bad luck streaks designed to take you down, heartache and loss, the ways we can break and rebuild, and do hard things.. The struggles of trying to raise good kids who are their own true selves (not societies standard model) and are comfortable in that.. The way you speak about giving back to the land more than you take. Wanting adventure and seeking memorable moments with your kids.. THESE are the real things that matter in life 💝 Thankyou 🙏

    Hi Erin, Leo has this to say: From what you showed in the video it looks like the steel you need to drill through in the carriage frame is at least half an inch thick. You didn't mention what you are thinking to use to drill through that but I can tell you that using a household drill would not do it. My suggestion would be to find somebody local with an acetylene torch who could burn holes through the metal. One every three feet should be enough to secure your home to the frame using half inch galvanized carriage bolts. Best of luck to you!!

    • @BeautifulUnschoolLife
      @BeautifulUnschoolLife 2 года назад

      Thanks Leo and Maureen! The farmers here have lots of tools that I can borrow, I'll have to see if an acetylene torch is among them...

  • @denniskwasnycia1950
    @denniskwasnycia1950 2 года назад

    In regards to bolting with carriage bolts to the frame, every two feet is fine and 4 feet is a limit. As for messing with integrity of the trailer, Most of that is quarter inch, I would not worry about that, you should be fine. As for the ridge beam, look into an engineered beam instead, much stronger over that length and much lighter as well. For a covering that is light weight under the house, check out Libby manufacturing for high density polyurethane. It is very tough, basically it's the same thing ice rinks use for puck boards. They can make it in what ever length you want and basically I would just take the trailer there and make the sheet of the trailer. Not sure if they can do a full width, I have not talked to them in a while. Do this before you start, so transporting it is not a problem. That material comes in 1/8 to 1/2 thick, but could be thinner. Rock wool or Roxul is what I would go with personally. The difference between the engineered beam and laminated 2x6 is quite a bit I feel and may help with other things like insulation type. Just a thought. Here are a couple links. www.libbymfg.com and www.weyerhaeuser.com/blog/ridge-board-or-ridge-beam-which-one-does-my-roof-need/. The link in regards to the engineered beams is just one of many, just to give ideas.

    • @BeautifulUnschoolLife
      @BeautifulUnschoolLife 2 года назад

      Oh, these are some awesome suggestions. I've not heard of engineered beams, I'll look that up. The high density polyurethane is an interesting idea. I wonder how expensive that is...

    • @denniskwasnycia1950
      @denniskwasnycia1950 2 года назад

      @@BeautifulUnschoolLife Years ago, it was between $80 and $100 for a 4x8 foot sheet. The 1/8 thickness would be much less.
