Well there is a big bottleneck on the CPU, the GPU never reaches 70% usage and the PWR is only 100-105W...

@@TanieBuildyKomputerowe It is good thad GPu never reaches 70% so you can switch to higher resolution. In your case it is better to test in HD (720p) so we can test the CPU but not RTX 3070 (8 Gb is not quite enough for QHD especially with ultra settings - MSI afterburner will not show that memory is not enough)

I think that what is important is the overall performance of the whole PC, why? Do you play in 720p? It is not a theoretical test, but real life measurmet of what is capable a PC with such specs. Is it worth to disable cores when you have good GPU, enough RAM and nice mobo. We can argue a lot, and both of us have our own ways to see thing different.

Mate, i've tested it like i've said with all cores, 12C/24T, 8C/16T and 8C/8T because it still quite good represents what i've said. There are very minor differences, not worth to do it, and see what is happening with the CPU temprature, even through water cooling it gets very hot on less cores, and that is not good at all. There are also two reasons why i've choose to test it in 1440p, first one is that even RTX3070 has only 8GB of RAM it can very good handle this resolution, you can see that the usage of it's RAM never reach 8GB, so it's never a bottle neck, and the second is that why build such a powerfull PC to play at 1080P or at lower settings, also i've tested now Cyberpunk 2077, and there are also minor differences, with 18C/36T still being the fastest setting. Maybe in older games that can't use more than 4 or 6 cores disabling them can be the case, but not in newer Vulkan or even some DX12 games. Also you mentioned FH5, but there the differences are most noticable and i think that Xeon with a good MB and PSU after a Turbo Unlock don't need to disable cores.

Also im using a real X99 chipset MB, so this can make a difference how does the CPU handle games, the C612 is a more stable but dedicaded for server purposes chipset, never meant to handle games etc

When you using Turbo Boost Unlock, and you will modify the BIOS to utilize always max TDP, then disabling cores amd HT does nothing, i've tried it.

@@TanieBuildyKomputerowe OK) In my case it always works well. You get boost up to 30-40% and more. Do as you wish, but for 2696v3 (FOR GAMES) it is recommended to use 10/10, 12/12 or 12/24 cores/threads to get MAX fps. It is proved many times

Do you have mods on your MB like Turbo Unlock? Right now i'm making a video test with comparison for All cores vs 8C8T, 8C16T and 12C24T, i'll upload it i think today.

​@@TanieBuildyKomputerowe What do you mean by MODS? I just modified bios and unlocked Turbo boost with undervolting -80, -50, -50. But now I have 2697v3 and usually use it 12/12, 13/13, 14/14 with its max 3.6 gHz per all cores.

It is W per package not per CPU, the MSi Afterburner could read only this power parameter from Xeon V3.

Do you mean how much W does the CPU consumes or how powerfull PSU it need? For the first question the answer is 145W, and fot the second at least 750W, but much more safe would be 800-850W.

Przez OLX, na Alie nie kupuję kart, miałem dwie odkupione jako używane, były to rebrandowane XFX, widać, że odrzuty, słaba jakość.

Jak chcesz iść w Xeona, to najlepszy stosunek cena/jakość ma 2697 V3, spokojnie dostaniesz za 50-60PLN na alledrogo.

Spokojnie przyjmuje ustawienia 5600X, a nawet ciut więcej, jak widzisz jest 4.65GHz. Tutaj jest zwykła pasta 12W, ale od kiedy przesiadłem się na ciekły metal to nic innego nie używam, jedynie musi być cała podstawa chłodzenia z miedzi.

Do pracy bardzo fajna konfiguracja, ale do gier już gorzej. Za miesiąc zrobię dłuższy filmik gdzie będę gadać o moich doświadczeniach z Xeonami.

Yep, this could improve performance a lot, but when i build this one, the main goal was to make a quite nice performance, at the lowest cost possible, and using a 16GB ECC DDR4 was over 4x times chaper than using 2x 8GB DDR4 (good alie promo). Maybe next user of this PC will upgrade it with a dual channel memory, and a better CPU, those are both bottlenecks for RX5700XT with (still) is a beast.

Mając Turbo Unlock rdzenie są w stanie wszystkie na raz działać z częstotliwością 3.8GHz, szczególnie w grach, gdzie utylizowane na raz jest 4-6 rdzeni, no jedynie w grach na VULKAN jest inaczej, tu wszystkie chodzą. Wyłączanie rdzeni ma sens tylko w grach DX11 i starszych no i bez TU. Inna sprawa, że w bardziej wymagających sytuacjach więcej zależy od płyty głównej, tzn nawet jak włączysz rdzenie, to PWR pakiet dla jednego rdzenia będzie ograniczony. Nawet moja Huananzhi BD4, miała z tym problem, jesienią zbuduję potwora na SZMZ X99 S3, zobaczymy jak to wtedy zagada.

Problem w tym, że ja w ogóle nie gram w gry, odpalam by zrobić test, nie wiem ile to Tobie powie, ale Fortnite miał około 150-170fps.

Składam komputery dla zabawy, potem sprzedaję. Jeszcze żadnego zwrotu nie miałem, a sam używałem długi czas konfiguracji na 2696 V3. Pamiętaj, że jeżeli wziąłeś płytę z Chin to na 99% nie jest ona na X99.

Sam radiator z chipsetu zdjąłem, ale żadnych informacji o modelu chipsetu na nim nie było. Chyba, że bardzo małymi literami

Czyli masz pewnie Zsus X99 P4 lub Qiyida X99 D4 lub coś pochodnego? Zawsze jest C612, ten dopisek o partii to taka trochę ściema. Możesz łatwo sprawdzić co dokładnie masz w HWiNFO.

Na płytach Machinist dużo trudniej jest zmodyfikować pod Turbo Unlock.

I nie jest, tylko trzeba składać komputer z głową, swoją drogą ten zestaw już wisi na OLX.

It depends on API that game is using, older games like GTA V, are using DX10/11, and are unable to utilize all cores on Xeons, so the performance is low due the low siglecore performance in this processor, but the newer games using Vulkan or DX12 are mostly capable to use all cores so the performance for example Doom Ethernal is pretty good.

Hi! At first you must have a 2011-3 motherboard. Xeon CPUs running mostly at lower frequencies than desktop CPUs, so in games that are depending mostly on 1-2-4 cores like GTA V or CSGO, they perform poorly. But in newer games that arę using API like DX12 or Vulcan like Doom Ethernal they are beasts for the price. I Think the most resonable Xeons are 2697 V3, 2699 V3 and most powerfull 2696 V3, they boost to 3.6GHz, and the 2696 V3 even to 3.8GHz, and with Turbo Unlock mode all cores can work in boost at the same time.

@@Deadlyloltheguyofwow Just set it to "Defaults" when you will do the Turbo Unlock, otherwise, disable some cores, but in my opinion, this is the worst way.

To jest taki komputer testowy, docelowo będzie inna konfiguracja z 2699 V3 i parę innych drobnych zmian, pewnie będzie na sprzedaż za coś nie co ponad 2k.

Z CS2 (bo tego mam) jest problem z tym, że nie lubi za bardzo MSi Afterburnera, ale można to ogarnąć. W przyszłości mogę go wrzucić, myślę, że za kilka dni wrzucę test z 2697 V3 oraz dwoma RX580 4GB w trybie Crossfire (lub z jednym bo nie każda gra lubi ten tryb).

Wpadł test 2630 V4 z CS2, więc zapraszam, to jeden z najsłabszych Xeon na LGA2011-3, za to za jakiś czas będzie test z 2696 V3 z Full Turbo, czyli jednym z najmocniejszych. Zapraszam

In older games it is a though, but in DX12 and Vulkan powered games, where all cores can be utilized, disabling cores have no sense, also with the Full Turbo mode enabled it has even less sense.

@@vitalis_blr I've done some tests on 4 games with my 2696V3 and RX6800XT, firs all cores on, and then with 12 cores, and the results were, well... a disappointment. At first i've tested Cyberpunk 2077 settings Ultra RayTracing 1440p, All Cores (AC) there was 48,93FPS AVG, MIN 41, MAX 59, and with 12C there was 49,31FPS AVG, 42 MIN, 59 MAX. Then Witcher 3 settings Uber+ RayTracing FHD. On AC 42FPS AVG, 29 MIN, 74 MAX, and on 12C 44FPS AVG, 30 MIN, 55 MAX. Next Horizon Zero Dawn, settings Ultra 1440p, AC 119FPS AVG, 110 MIN, 148 MAX, and 12C 119FPS AVG, 111 MIN, 148 MAX. And finally Battlefield 1 on settings 4K Ultra DX12, on AC 112FPS AVG, 37 MIN, 146 MAX, andm 12C 116FPS AVG, 74 MIN, 141 MAX. So... like i've said, if you got a good mobo, with good phase power supply, and a Turbo Mod done, then deactivating your cores give you nothing.

@@TanieBuildyKomputerowe Well, that's okay. Now one of the best is the 2697v3 - I bought it a couple of months ago. For games (with its hypertrading disabled) this is a great option for its price. Before that, I had 2666v3 for 2 years (a lot of tests on my channel). I wanted to take 2696v3, but it went up in price a lot.

Yep, i've got a 2696 V3 with Turbo Mod paired with 64GB RAM in 4x 16GB modułem and a RX6800XT on a Huananzhi X99 BD4 mobo, it is a beast. Check out my other vids also with 2697 V3.

Huananzhi is very good, but the Qiyida E5-A99 is almost the same mobo, with reinforced PCIe slots, but it is much cheaper.
