I agree with all of that.... Luckily I did get the game for 50 lol... My only real "meh" is the main character. She's not terrible, she's not amazing, she's just kind of there.

@ I liked her. I didnt get “girls get it done” from her but more of an mix of Indiana Jones childishness mixed with Oceans Eleven vibe. Keep in mind that this game is PG12 these characters are kinda created around it. What I love I have to say is that this is a story of a thief living in a star wars universe and it has nithing to do with star wars. The world their build is really amazing and I can only imagine if this would be rater R/18+..you could see what is the life really like for people from the gutter, war crimes, crimes in general, maybe even some fck uo shit showing us that universe is not a nice place. Just one thing that you hear a lot people bitch about is Kay being able to knock stormtrooper out like this is PG12 level of violence you know what i mean? Allie from TLOU2 is less fit than Kay and she be handling savages but game is 18+ so yeah you can actually kill them with knifes and sh. Anyway I hope to get deeper into the story tommorow and have some fun.

@@midwestgeeks No. Thanks for the reminder. I've been meaning to watch it. The joke goes that a dumb blonde in Hollywood sleeps with the writer. Good scripts are everything. Cast a nobody whose also a good actor, and good writing, and you don't need to spend much money on the sets. Snowpiercer was wonderful even though it was poor CGI, IMO. If you want a good story, catch the Polish film based upon the Nobel prize winning novel "With Fire and Sword". Classic cinematography. The sequels (filmed in reverse order) are also wonderful.

@@midwestgeeks Well, how do you think they took the most cherished game of all time, with millions of fans hungry for more, and made half of them hate "part 2" with a passion? What I can't explain is the other half, who think that was ok. Bruce Straley and half the employees left the company, and Neil was promoted to VP. There was no one around him to say "no" to his terrible ideas. "part 2" is a tedious 20-30 hour walk-and-talk simulator (you can't skip those parts) and an exercise in pure misery. Characters will act out of character and do stupid things just to push the plot forward. A plot that is contrived AF and seems like it was written by a 10 year-old with..."issues." They made Ellie unlikable. And so dumb. The Ellie you knew is basically gone. New characters are useless and boring AF. In the original, even the secondary characters were iconic. You only knew Sarah for 5 minutes. And then you had Tess, Bill. "part 2" is the complete opposite. And that's not even the worst part. Anyway. You will probably find out soon enough. Also notice how the people who claim "it's a masterpiece" can't tell you why. I could tell you exactly why it's not. Notice how I'm not giving you any "spoilers." Not that you can spoil something so rotten. And I have no idea if you will love it or hate it. That's a completely different issue.

I think you did never watch an analysis saying good things about the game, you just watched the ones talking badly about it because they were the ones that supported your opinion. But there are plenty of videos out there giving you more than enough reasons. I can give them myself, anyway: It’s no more of a walk-and-talk simulator than the first part. And you can’t skip those sequences in the first part neither. In fact, I’d say it even has more combat. But anyways it’s a really balanced experience just like the first one, with bits of story, bits of puzzles, bits of combat and so on… maybe the problem was just that you didn’t like the story, therefore you didn’t like the walk-and-talk segments, and it maybe felt like there were more than in the first one… but there aren’t. I don’t think that’s a good point for criticizing the game. Characters never go out of character. Tell me a scene when they do and I’ll explain it. Ellie being unlikable is pretty subjective in the beginning, but it’s obviously the point of the game in the end. Please tell me in what sense she is dumb, because I can’t think of any moments in which she is. I can agree with the secondaries being worse than in the first part generally speaking, but still they’re not bad. Owen, Lev and Yara are as memorable in my opinion, and Dina is pretty good. There’s no “bad”character in my opinion. It’s a risky story that even the director knew not everyone was going to like. But I think it’s a good, realistic and mature continuation of the first part. It’s just not the game people where expecting. I understand the reasons why people don’t like it though. There are valid reasons in both sides. I’m not trying to convince you of liking it, I probably can’t, I’m just trying to proof both sides have a point and it’s merely subjective whether you like the game or not.

So if the story and the characters are trash, it does not matter that the graphics and sound design are excellent. That's not what the game is about. The technical aspects are there to support the story, not to replace it. There are very few walk and talk sections in the original, and they are very short. For example, when Joel and Ellie first meet and walk to the apartment. That did not bother me at all, because it was short and the dialog was relevant. The walk and talk sections in "part 2" are insufferable, the dialog is crap, and you can't skip it. Joel and Ellie are complete morons in "part 2." Ellie was more emotionally mature at 14 than at 19. Can't go into details here because "spoilers." There's nothing memorable about Lev and Yara. They are nowhere as developed or engaging as someone like Tess or Bill. Not even close. And you spend a lot more time with them. There's a lot more time to develop them, but they are flat and boring. Plot devices rather than people. Dina is horrible. She makes horrible decisions. She's a b*tch to Ellie and to Jesse. Again, "spoilers." The problem is not being "risky." The problem is that it doesn't deliver, and it destroys the characters that people DID love. There's nothing realistic about it. It's contrived AF. Things happen because they need to happen to move the plot forward, not because they make sense. Let's drop a map with your location so your enemy can easily find you. Seriously? That's the kind of absurd contrivances the game depends on.

Firstly, I never talked about the technical aspects, I really don’t know why you bring that up. As I said, the problem are not the walk and talk sections, which are as short as in Part I, the problem is you don’t like the story. So there’s no point in criticizing that. SPOILERS here: How are Joel and Ellie morons? Ellie is just kinda broken after Joel’s lie, and everything she has to do in both Part I and Part II. But she has the same personality, she’s just more silent and pessimistic because of everything she’s gone through. Lev and Yara have development and are engaging in my opinion… they literally run off a cult and see the world in a completely different way. That’s interesting. And every character moves the plot forward, even Tess and Bill. Bill is literally the guy that just gets them a car to move the plot forward. Lev and Yara aren’t more of a “plot device” than Tess and Bill are, despite also having personalities and being interesting characters. Characters do make sense. Again, please tell me a moment in which they act out of character. You talk like the map thing was voluntary or something. I don’t think you would have remembered about a map when you’re having a literal anxiety attack and a mental breakdown.

First Part was definitely fun!
