Petite Musette by Victoria Proudler - Grade 4 (Piano Grades Are Go! Grade 4-5)
Ok, so this piece has been playing in my head since I first tried it out a few weeks ago - and yes it’s none other than Victoria Proudler’s composition, a piece called Petite Musette from her Piano Grades Are Go! Grades 4-5 book.
Such a pretty piece in C minor and the Superskill for this one is cantabile, meaning to play in a singing style, so the right hand melody ‘sings’ over the left hand accompaniment.
There are so many other fantastic pieces in this book but I had to post this one first because it’s my favourite (so far!). Have you tried any pieces from this book yet? Which is your favourite?

A beautiful little Grade 4 piece which uses a delicate top line melody, middle accompaniment shared between the hands and bass line in the left. Short but lovely 🥰
What's Included in my Academic Year Piano Planners?

During summer break I spent some time creating a piano planner to use with my young students. This planner covers all 52 weeks of the year and runs from autumn term through to summer term. For full details, see the product description using the Amazon link below. I decided to wait until the hardback version of my Piano Planners arrived (which was only last night!) before making a video showing ...
Lullaby by Donald Thomson (Grade 2)
Просмотров 1553 месяца назад
This is Lullaby from Donald Thomson's fabulous Celtic Piano Music book from the Grade 2 section and is easily one of my favourite pieces in the whole book. The harmonies are simple but so impactful, especially when you imagine a voice singing the RH melody line. Written in G major and 3/4 time it's a lovely piece to learn and the simple LH accompaniment provides just the right amount of support...
Salt 'n' Sauce by Donald Thomson (Initial Grade)
Просмотров 93 месяца назад
I was delighted to receive a wonderful book of pieces called Celtic Piano Music (Initial to Grade 2) from Donald Thomson last week, and have been having fun playing through his charming compositions. Here is Salt 'n' Sauce (Initial grade) a fun little piece in compound time (6/8) and the key of G, using mixed articulation (staccato and legato) both within a phrase and between the hands. I reall...
Star Stream (Grade 3) by Victoria Proudler
Просмотров 233 месяца назад
Here is a beautiful piece to start your week called Star Stream (Grade 3) by Victoria Proudler. The Superskill here is the hidden bass line in the left hand and by listening out for it, the player can slightly emphasise this line, balancing against the accompaniment notes and of course the right hand melody. My favourite bit has to be near the end with those chord changes - just wonderful! Vict...
Pirouette by Victoria Proudler (Grade 2)
Просмотров 123 месяца назад
If you need to reinforce the D major scale, this piece will make it so much more fun to practice! It's another from the Grade 2 section of Victoria Proudler's Piano Grades Are Go! series, and it has the delightful name Pirouette. It sounds like it could have fit in with the minuets and preludes of the 1700-1800s and creates the opportunity to practice two-note slurs, that is, two notes joined s...
Jam'n'Groove by Victoria Proudler (Grade 2)
Просмотров 193 месяца назад
Here's another brilliant piece from Victoria Proudler's Piano Grades Are Go! Grade 2-3 book: Jam'n'Groove (Grade 2). It's a fun piece with some great chords and the Superskill for this one is tone quality to produce a well rounded sound by playing right to the bottom of the keys. This piece uses swing rhythm, as opposed to straight rhythm, where the first of each pair of quavers is longer than ...
Land of the Midnight Sun - Naoko Ikeda
Просмотров 644 месяца назад
Naoko Ikeda has composed some truly beautiful music - and one that I’ve been immersing myself in this week has been Land of the Midnight Sun from The Graded Collection edited by Andrew Eales. This is from the Grade 5 section and has some harmonies that I just love, and that single out Naoko’s music from the more traditional melodies in Western music. One of the challenges in this piece is in th...
Rainbow’s End 🌈 by Victoria Proudler (Grade 3)

One of the most beautiful pieces of music I’ve heard lately - composed by the talented Victoria Proudler for her Piano Grades Are Go! series. This is from the Grade 2-3 book. The series features one key super skill per piece, and this one is for arm movement, ensuring you align your right arm behind the playing fingers to ensure a beautiful tone.

Impromptu in G flat by Schubert (clip 2)
I have been working on this piece for a few years and I finally discovered what is wrong..... (i suck) Great job!
@@kennethschweighardt4920 oh! I doubt very much that you suck! It’s a challenging one for sure - are you having lessons or self taught? Thank you for the kind comment 😃
@@VictoriaClarkPiano I taught myself a little, but I went for lessons from 2 teachers. The real reason is my playing (reading) level is not at the place that is necessary to execute these pieces. But Oh I love them so!!! Seeing you play them (Claude Debussy) is such a blessing and very inspirational. Thank you for sharing.
Lovely music☺️🎶 I subscribed to stay in touch🌹
@@Incredible_Piano ah thank you!
Beautifully played!
@@andersonlee thank you ☺️
This was beautifully well-done, this shows that a simple piano piece can be beautiful. I've even heard Level 1 pieces that sound amazing (like Carl Czerny's practice pieces). Very heartwarming interpretation of it. Very glad to listen to your lovely performance. Victoria is a very beautiful name, by the way!
@@AltoonaYourPiano thank you for your lovely comment 🥰 I agree there are so many beautiful pieces that are simple 😃
So Nice! ❤
@@Jordi_Ventura it’s so pretty isn’t it?
Fine, clean, excellent piano playing 😍❤
@@Jordi_Ventura ah thank you! 🥰
Very nice and beautiful ❤️ 😍 🤩 👌 Thank you ❤️ Subscribed! New friend ❤❤❤
Oh thank you! ☺️
Me encanto!!!!!!!!!
It’s lovely isn’t it? Such a good piece
Well done!!
Thank you ☺️
Thank you. This is like a waltz with a fourth beat.
Haha I love that description - it does feel like a dance doesn’t it?
Sehr schön
Vielen Dank!
Sounds very nice!💯👏Never really heard much of Heller's music, so it's appreciated to be introduced to new music and composers.
Thank you! This was the first I have learned by Heller and I loved it 🥰
A very nice piece of music😃🎵👏. Is Naoko Ikeda from a Scandinavian country?I did try looking up the composer, but couldn't find any information, hence my question.
She is Japanese, from Hokkaido- Andrew Eales did a great review of her book here with some background :)
You have a very nice touch on the keys. Nice playing.
Thank you that’s so kind 😁
Well done, both of you.👏👏👏💯💯💯🙏🙏🙏🎵🎵🎵🎹🎹🎹🎶🎶🎶👍👍👍. It looked as if he was really enjoying himself towards the end of this video, hence the smile on his face.😆😃 Hope he continues to enjoy playing the piano.
Thank you! Yes he’s a great student and really appreciates the hard work that goes into learning to play, and celebrates when he succeeds too 🥰
Congratulations! You play with great emotion!🎉
Thank you!
POR FAVOR FAZ UM VÍDEO COMPLETO, EU AMO ESSA MÚSICA ❤
Here you go :) it’s not perfect but it’s the whole thing ruclips.net/video/NSCemQsbY5c/видео.htmlsi=oSsHEGQfAqvmzbtw
I am learning this song rn and I didn't even know how it goes so that helped me thx
You’re welcome ☺️ if you have any questions about the piece let me know 👍🏻
I have been practicing this piece and thanks to you I have been able to learn it well, thank you
Sounds like its played by an ai - pour more emotion
I believe Rachmaninov himself loathed this prelude of his: I think lots of people in his concerts asked him to play this prelude at the end. As it goes, I am learning this prelude, too,on and off. I think the prelude is very dramatic and quite epic: just my type of music!
haha thats crazy, I thought it was really only me out there that ben played rachmaninoff!
Se agradece una explicación tan completa sobre el compisitor y la pieza, que en este momento estudio. Gracias Victoria.
A very lovely piece, and nicely played!👍😀👏🎶🎹
Thank you that’s kind 😊
I recognise this piece. I believe Nachts was the name of the film this piece featured in.
Ah that’s true - though I was thinking of another movie more mainstream 😊
I believe there was a film back in the year 1984 called Amadeus! Maybe that was the movie?
@@angusrobertsonpianist more recent than that, try 2008 🧐😄
@@VictoriaClarkPianoI might have it, now. Is it Mozart Decoded? Released on January 4th 2008?
@@angusrobertsonpianist nope! But I’m loving all these movies about Mozart - this one is not anything to do with Mozart in subject.
Not a bad attempt at this piece, that is if this is your first time in a while that you have played this waltz.
Well yes… it’s a piece I want to go back to learning as I mentioned. But I’m more interested in the joy of Chopin’s music 😊
Beautifully played fragment from this Waltz. You probably know Greg Niemczuk on RUclips. Very interesting how he analyzes Chopin's compositions!!
Ah thank you ☺️ I’m not familiar with him actually but I’ll check out his channel, thanks for the recommendation I’m sure he’ll be interesting!
@@VictoriaClarkPiano Greg occasionally talks quite dramatically about Chopin's feelings. He also reacts physically while playing, but I believe he interprets it correctly given the background he knows. He also brings it in a lot of fun, really worth it Victoria!
Very nice! 👏🏼
Thanks!
A very beautiful piece of music, and beautifully played, too. Gorgeous!!!😃👍🎹
Ah thank you :)
@@VictoriaClarkPiano 👍
정말 대단한 연주가다..
Beautiful.
Thanks!
I’ve played a few by him before. Shadows and The Reef. I’ve always enjoyed how they sound 😊
Ah lovely 😊 I haven’t tried those yet but I haven’t heard a piece from him that isn’t wonderful
Aw bless her! That excitement when she gets through it - that’s how I feel now as an adult haha. She did great and it was fun to see how much can be achieved in 3 days!
Aww yes it makes me smile every time I see that clip - and it’s what we can all feel when learning and succeeding at a new piano piece 🥰
This is a lovely piece. I have all these books and keep saying I’ll look at them one day….
Ah yes it’s great isn’t it! I find I say that about a lot of books, but one thing that has helped me is the advice to Just Do One Thing (JDOT) - so choose one book or one piece and one section of free time and dedicate it to working on that piece - you’ll feel so much better when you do 😃 this is said with the knowledge that as a mother, finding time to practice is tricky!
Lovely! Pretty sweater, too!
Beautiful!
Thank you - I need to go back and revive this piece. It’s such a beautiful piece of music 😍
@@VictoriaClarkPianoThank you for responding. Quite an honor. You play like an angel. God bless you!
Aw thank you what a nice thing to say ☺️
One of my all time fav pieces. And the first piece I ever decided to teach myself 😅
Wowzers! That’s a pretty intense piece for a first self taught piece 😮 it’s so brilliant though isn’t it? 😄🙌🏻
Love videos like this! It's always interesting to see other peoples approach rather than just the finished piece!
Ah thank you! I was hoping it would be a welcome change from just performance clips 😃
So beautiful, i have struggle on arpeggios
Please soften the left hand and play delicately. Bring out the right hand TENDERLY to make this piece more sensual. Also more rubato in places where the tones rise and fall with dynamic contrast so that we can hear emotions. Good start on a piece that always makes me cry, but you need to put YOUR heart and soul into your playing without “waking up the baby”, if you know what I mean. All the best.😊
👍👍👍👍👍!! You need marketing, look into Promo sm!
nice one 👍🎉🎈
Yes!
That's some great playing.
Thank you - yes he’s done so well with this song :)
