After four decades, this retiree still loves and uses his Bullworker X5. You always see results using isometrics and there's very little chance of injury. #bullworker
Laid Off at 64. Now What?
Просмотров 684 месяца назад
Your life can change in a moment. On October 19, 2023, at the age of 64, I was laid off for the first time in my life. After much deliberation, I ultimately chose to retire early and live on my terms. This channel will showcase my journey into this exciting new chapter of my life. #retirement
Great presentation! Number 7 is perhaps the hardest, though several of your suggestions are quite challenging and difficult.
Definitely not easy but worth striving for!
Bizarrely this comes on the day I turn 60! I like your Isometric Strong shirt, what’s the story behind that? Thank you 🙏
Thank you my friend and Happy Birthday! Isometrics is one of my favorite forms of exercise. My wife made for me. Feel free to place an order 😂
@@weekendwanderer5514 thank you ☺️. Yes, I like isometric exercises, too, owning a Bullworker. I like to mix it up with body weight ones, though. How much are the T shirts? 😊
@@Sherlock2022 I can send you an iron-on transfer as a birthday gift for being a loyal viewer if you would like. Send me your contact info. My email address is in my channel description.
@@retirementreboot oh, thank you very much!
Wise words for all ages right there.
Thank you my friend.
First😂
Thanks. Good job.
Great video 💪🤔💯
Did you have another RUclips channel at one time?
Yes, I mistakenly answered your comment with the wrong channel name. Oops!
Rescue-Me tool if in your car or on the subway?
Not a bad idea!
I agree with all you said.
Thanks, appreciate it.
I have heard about the 10,000 steps being an arbitrary number before. There are some days at work when I can exceed this easily; I walk to work and into town etc. At the moment I’m trying to keep my feet up, as I have plantar fasciitis!
I have a friend who has plantar fasciitis. It's no joke. Feel better!
@@retirementreboot cheers!
Great video thank you! I have found myself fixated on that number and it has caused me to not even try at times as it feels so insurmountable.
Exactly! Better to get out and do what you can while trying to improve but fitness is not one size fits all. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Any form of excercise is good for you, do what you can with what you've got & don't beat yourself up if you don't always meet your (usually self imposed) targets
We seem to love meaningless round numbers!
Good luck to you buddy, hope you have fun in retirement and follow your own path.
Thank you my friend. Appreciate the comment!
A very comprehensive guide especially about the overall weight of them
Thanks! A lot of downsides to ownership aren’t mentioned in the marketing materials!
@@retirementreboot Sad but true, they just want to sell their product
FIRST😆😆😆
LOL. Impeccable timing!
@@retirementreboot I must have had a premonition or something. lol
This is at the heart of anxiety and worries. We have to work on our response to events, not the situation itself. Not always easy though…
Agreed. Definitely not always easy!
Nice video. Those old X5 BW's actually have two springs inside. One on each end. I've taken all three of mine apart and cleaned everything and use spray dry lube on the springs.
I didn’t know you could take them apart! I’m going to see if I can figure it out because both of mine have developed an annoying squeak. Appreciate any suggestions!
@@weekendwanderer5514 It's easiest if you have two people but you can do it by yourself if you are fairly strong. Place one end on something hard like a coffee table. I use one of those rubber discs that BW sells and that comes with some of their products to put the BW on. Grab the chrome part of the device and pull down as far as you can until there is slack in the straps. Keeping the tube pulled down, pull the black handle up and off of the chrome tube. Once you get it off, you can pull the chrome tube out of the bottom handle and then pull out all of the insides from both sides. Let me know how it goes.
Thanks so much!
@@weekendwanderer5514 You are welcome.
I like your video. I purchased my first Bullworker around the same time, initially starting with the original version and then the X5. I sold it as I was a little frustrated with the straps pulling out of sync. Anyway, 2 years ago I bought the Bow Basic and ISO Bow and have got back into this form of exercise, combined with body weight training.
I didn’t get into it in the video but I’ve got just about every one of their products. The ISO Bow especially is amazing for what it is. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@retirementreboot yes, the ISO Bow is surprisingly effective. Thanks.
I have all the New Bullworker products including there Limited Edition X5 28"Pro Gold. That said my favourite Bullworker is the Bow Basic. The Bow Basic has a feel and a quality above all the rest even the Limited Edition X5 28"Pro Gold which costs $750 and the Bow Basic $100 brand new. I have built an awesome body from Bullworker (Age 60)
Spot on mate, walking with your spouse/partner is also a good way of talking things out & solving problems as you go.
Agreed. It’s one of the best all around activities with definite quantifiable benefits!
Very cool how you filmed the video. Walking is definitely a good idea. It's low impact and everybody needs to maintain the ability to move freely and unassisted.
As we get younger it’s important to focus much more on exercises that have a lower risk of injury!
@@retirementreboot Agreed. Some of the best advice I ever received was "If it hurts when you do that, don't do that".
LOL!!
Really liked your video a lot. I'm a few years younger than you and never used a Bullworker when I was in my teens/early twenties. I have been using a combination of a regular Bullworker, Bullworker X5, chest expanders and power twisters for months now. These old school pieces of equipment all work well separately and in different combinations for both isometric and isotonic exercises. I am experiencing a big increase in my upper body strength and muscle mass. Hope you will do more with the Bullworker and maybe the others as well in the future. 👍👍
Thank you my friend. I too have multiple Bullworkers and still believe that they are highly underappreciated. I plan on doing more of this type of video in the future and hope you’re able to tune in. Love your channel name, lol.
I just subscribed and will definitely be looking forward to checking out your channel. Yes, my channel name sums up how I feel some days. I'm the nicest grouch you'll ever meet.🤓
@@justsotired4022 Much appreciated!
Another informative video, I must confess, I'm guilty of overthinking & worrying about things I have no say in. Note to self, must try harder.👍
I’m guilty as well. The worst is when you worry about something that never ends up happening!
The stuff we all carry varies but it is good to see what others carry with them to get ideas. Different stuff for different applications makes perfect sense. Also, be careful where you put your lighter in your car, I had a lighter explode in my car one summer years ago, happily there was no damage just lots of flourescent green plastic shards everywhere.
Good advice about the lighter. Thanks!
I used to have a Swiss Army knife like that, now I have a Swiss Army card version, credit card sized, ( but a little thicker). Again, an interesting video.
@@Sherlock2022The small Swiss Army knives are extremely practical for day to day use. Thanks for watching!
@@weekendwanderer5514 yes, thanks. Take a look at the Swiss Card, very portable.
@@Sherlock2022 I have the Swiss Army Card too, it goes with me everywhere,it's come in very handy countless times.
Lots of wisdom right there, I think people worry too much about the wrong things, time is our most precious resource. Enjoy what you have today & make the most of it.👍😀👍
You can't really go wrong living that way!
Interesting points made. Because I work a three-week rolling rota, I’m perhaps not used to a structure like the 9-5. Like you, I wouldn’t miss the social interaction/ meetings aspect of work. Also, a point not often mentioned is that working costs money in the form of commuting or clothing costs. Thanks again.
@@Sherlock2022 You’re absolutely correct about the hidden costs. I live in a very expensive part of the country and my lunch tab alone was between 50 and $70 per week. Factoring in the other costs you mentioned I was spending a considerable amount of money just for the privilege of working!
@@weekendwanderer5514 yes, I first came across this idea in a book called The Right Way To Escape The Rat Race. Thanks.
Absolutely right!. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
It's vital to keep the mind firing on all cylinders as much as possible, use it or lose it I suppose. Having a broad range of different interests on your own & with a spouse is also a good idea.
Absolutely right. Just spending the day staring out the window is definitely not an option!
Staring out of the window has its place but its not something to do all day every day.
Reminds me of that movie citizen Kane and that rosebud … at least you got your social security welfare checks congratulations embracing boredom is manhood
I didn't know the difference between isometric & isotonic until now.👍
Isometrics are having a resurgence. I love doing them.
@@wandereraudio5756yup me too , I only light dumbbells for biceps - all the rest is isometric work .
A very honest video about a subject some people tend to avoid.😀
