If you like Commando and Rambo, then ARNIE is right up your alley. This is a forgotten little gem of a Commodore 64 game. On the amiga500...press the letter K while the game is loading and magical things occur when you play.
This was a beatable game.. that's why i liked it
Oh man what a "golden" cheat. I wonder if other versions have bugs/eggs/cheats?
Good video. Make more!
If you leave your units with at least half their APs intact, then you get what is called opportunity fire. If an enemy unit stumbles into your units line of vision, then you get a chance to fire at them. Very useful tactic to use against the computer AI.
Cedric
Loved the game back in the days and wanted to see it again because I we almost completely forgot how it looked, thank you!
Used to play this all the time on the ol' Spectrum. IIRC, in a certain level, you could assassinate Sterner pretty quickly, using a rocket against one of the walls.
'th' suffixes are for third person informal (them, they, he, she), 'st' is for 2nd person (you, your, you're) :P Nice exploit with the wealth, though. I wonder if it was a bug?
@11:08 Oopsie! Looks like a data type overvalue bug! My guess is the game displays only the lowest 8 bits (value from 0 to 255) but it had STORED a value much larger -- like 16 bits (from 0 up to 65535)
Best explanation EVER! Played in 86 playing now. I had no clue about the forest. Outstanding. This is on my top 5 favorites of all time.
Thanks for this!
great video, Easter Egg was unexpected, and I'm a huge Rambo fan.
great video.
This video was my introduction to Laser Squad, and it looks brilliant.
I looooved this game so much. I played it on my Atari ST. Unfortunately for the Anglo-saxons, the Normans never gave them any chance to take back the throne. Honi soit qui mal y pense. Dieu et mon droit.
The best part of this video is 3:15 - 4:10 when you read out the list of creatures. I think I like Brown Dog best. I've never played this game. Never even heard of it. I did enjoy this video explaining it though.
There was an Arnie 2. I think it was Commodore Format that had the demo on their cover tape. As the game was just one long level, they added some barbed wire to stop you progressing beyond a certain point. It was quite trivial to get past the barbed wire just by moving the joystick. I can't remember if they accidentally gave away the whole game for free but I think the level map was complete at least.
SPY HUNTER was always a game I went back to over the years in the 80s, I never finished it, but always enjoyed playing it.
SUPER PIPELINE is a simple game, that I only discovered recently and due to the challenge, it has become one of my favourite games. How about you, from this selection of S games, what's your favourite?
As a fan of multiplayer sports games - as you can get family and friends involved - HYPERSPORTS is my winner from the H selection. How about you, what's your favourite?
Originally I was going to say COMMANDO as my favourite, but for the 'memory' factor CONQUEST comes out on top this time. This was one of the few games I could afford 'to buy' as a kid and I played it heaps to get money's worth and I really enjoyed it.
I would have to go with ZORRO as my favourite out this lot (close call with Zynapps) What's your favourite?
PROJECT FIRESTART is my favourite here. I did a video on the game ruclips.net/video/ewEjBawCJek/видео.html It was the 1st of the Survival Horror Genre and I loved playing this game as a kid (little and big).
MAYHEM IN MONSTERLAND is a recent favourite of mine. It looks good, scrolls amazing and its really challenging. The best thing is my daughter loves it too and she doesn't usually like retro games. What's your favourite here?
IKARI WARRIORS loved playing this with friends. Commando, Rambo all in one with 2 player, my favourite childhood game from this selection. What's yours?
Some good G games for the Commodore 64. My favourite was The Great Giana Sisters. We didn't have Mario Bros but we had Giana Sisters and it's a really good game. The original C64 cassette of THE GREAT GIANA SISTERS sell for crazy money on ebay...I don't think I will be adding this one to my C64 game wall. What's your favourite?
The Way of the Exploding Fist had two sequels, + and Fist II the Legend continues, FIST II is my favourite game from this selection. Unlike the others it is a scrolling adventure game where you come across opponents to defeat. I really like the atmosphere and the suspense the game creates.
Not many E's for the Commodore 64, that I could find, that is. If I missed some please let me know. My favourite C64 game starting with E has to be ELITE - what a huge game, so many weeks after school playing this game.
I think I may have put Defender of the Crown in Part 1 too, as its my favourite, but I feel I am writing this for the second time? Anyways what's yours?
This was a hard one, C is a popular Commodore 64 letter for games. CALIFORNIA GAMES is my winner here. I really enjoyed playing sports games like Summer Games etc with family and friends and California Games married my love of skate board, hacky sack, BMXing and catching waves, my fav.
There were some childhood favourites of mine in this selection B Commodore 64 games, BRUCE LEE wins here for me. What's your favourite?
Lots of good games on the C64 started with S, and it was a tough decision on my favourite from this selection of S games, almost chose Sanxion but I had to go with Samurai Warrior, great game!
BEACH HEAD 2 was a huge game for me in the 80s playing with friends.
Some really good Commodore 64 games started with R, and my favourite is Rolling Thunder, it gets a bad rap from alot of players, but I really enjoyed this as a kid back in the 80's.
QUOVADIS is my all time Q C64 game, but if I had to choose one from the video list, it may be surprising but it would Questprobe Hulk. I got this game as a kid, and only discovered it was a text adventure game when I started playing. I was really disappointed, as I wanted to go around smashing things. I decided to play it anyway and thoroughly enjoyed it.
So many good ones to choose from! I would have to say, from this section of P's PIRATES is my favourite, what a game!
NEW ZEALAND STORY is my favourite from this section of Commodore 64 games. The Kiwi looks like a canary rather than a kiwi, but this was quickly overlooked as I began playing this for hours on end as a kid.
So many good games start with L on the Commodore 64, it's hard to choose but I will go with my favourite being LASER SQUAD the game is huge for a Commodore 64 game, and I really liked UFO: Enemy Unknown so when I discovered this game I was instantly hooked. If you haven't played it before, check out my video ruclips.net/video/jw-0IC-joPk/видео.html
Katakis is definitely one of my favourite games from this section. Shoot em ups were always a winner for me as a kid and this is one of my all time favourites. What's yours?
From the J's on the Commodore 64 I would have to say Jet Set Willy 2 is my favourite. I spent hours and hours on this as a kid and never got through it...still haven't. What's your favourite?
I am not being too adventurous here, as I am going to say my favourite game from this section is Uridium. I enjoyed shoot em ups as a kid and this was fast and sounded great on the C64.
ThunderBirds is my favourite Commodore 64 game starting with T. I loved watching the show in the 80s and when I got the game, I was a little disappointed, I played it and then I was hooked. A great puzzle game.
My Favourite C64 game starting with A would have to be Arnie, not because it was a childhood favourite - I only just discovered it this year - it is definitely a adulthood favourite though. It is a short game but sooo fun to play.
Defender of the Crown is my all time favourite Commodore 64 game starting with D. I was amazed by the graphics and the game drew you into a medieval adventure, which as a kid (and big kid) I loved. What is your favourite?
My favourite Commodore 64 starting with C would have to be Commando, the Rob Hubbard sound track is amazing and the game I found (still do) it challenging. What would be your favourite?
