    Here in Bulgaria for a long time all our combat boots were with a similar sole construction. Cup sole with a sidestitch, that inevitably seeped in water. Better than the previous generation which had a 180 blake stitch on the bottom of the sole, and better than the models afterwards. Now they have a cup sole that they just glue and don't stitch anymore, which fall apart after about 6 months which is usually when you'll be issued your next pair. It's a bit cheaper to produce your boots with this style of cup sole, as you just buy them (the soles) en masse, and once the uppers are lasted and stitched you just glue the soles on, and press them. The stitching is there just to ensure extra strength. The hot weather boots you showed look identical to my Altamas, which are also a cup sole design, they're just not as high. Don't quote me on this, but I believe that with those boots, the midsole is directly molded onto the uppers, and then the vibram outsole is just glued on (or maybe heat welded, I'm not sure) which adds an extra step in the process, and makes the whole production more comlicated and expensive. I believe that's also why you got delamination on your bellevilles.

    Honestly I don't think I would ever got for a boot like this in the zombie memepocalypse. In the summer these would have absolutely destroyed my feet from being constantly sweaty. Also I've never had any good experiences with goretex. It always makes me feet sweat even when it's -10 to -15 outside, retains moisture like crazy, and inevitable fails. A sturdy pair of all leather boots with an abundance of wool socks would be my choice. You can swap out socks easily to keep your feet dry, and take care of the leather to keep it watertight. I've read quite a few Norwegian guys talk about how when double socking their M77 boots, they had no issues in the winter.

    Ive been through three pair. I use these boots for backpacking and as my primary footwear in my landscape business. They are very comfortable and don't restrict movement. I don't recommend them for daily work use. the wear and tear on the boot overall is expected but the outsole (the tread on the bottom) wears down to nothing in one season. They aren't meant to be re soled so that makes these a one season boot which is simply not gonna cut it for $240 boots. I'll be trying something different

    • @jimmyzulu85
      @jimmyzulu85 21 день назад

      @j.s.3414 Salomon started the forces line because specific shoe/boot models were popular among the SOF community. Older 'civilian' line models like the original quest 4d , were of similar quality as their forces line. Unfortunately in the last few years they've dropped the quality of their shoes and boots without lowering the price. Instead they kept the quality high(er) on their forces line but they've increased the price as well.

It has been my go to boot for summer or crossover season work for areas that don't require rubber boots. I recently wore out my last pair of quests and went to try on the new version and was sadly disappointed with the build and quality. It just felt like a cheaper boot. The fit was totally different from my older pairs (my 3rd set). I went on to try Lowa boots and have them now even though they aren't quite as good as my older quest 4s. I've been told to try the Forces version. Thanks for the review.

I have a new pair of Elite Deserts , recently re-soled beacuse of hydrolisis, same PU problem as yours. I am curious about your time while breaking in the boots. Excellent review, thanks! I never served but mine have survived prolonged backpacking trips in West Africa and the republic of Georgia, along with general mistreatment. I concur with pretty much everything you said, although I found grip on soft surfaces (deep loose sand and mud) to be suboptimal. On rock with a thin layer of sand - a much more common surface in desert environments - it's perfect though. I know the Elite Evo is also used in some militaries but indeed, it's hard to come by useful reviews of it. Curious about the new Breacher too, it seems to be something in the same vein.

One significant issue is related to SEO, particularly the optimization of your tags and tag volume. It seems that you haven't given them sufficient attention or completed them adequately. Before you discount these boots, remember these are for military use, not really for civilians to buy. You will be fitted and issued by the QM with boots, spacers and liners to fit your feet. You don’t have that service as a civilian. What the review didn’t note is that the boot doesn’t have a Gortex lining for a reason. Once the boot is breached, the last thing you want is a Gortex lining. They will take an age to dry out. No good if you want to wear them the next day. They have a Cambrelle lining that’s basically 2-way wicking. Never polish Defenders, use the recommended Leider Gris. Best boots out there, if you have a proper fitting service and know how to maintain them.
