In December 2024, pianist, composer, and filmmaker Ryotaro Terada formed the band GENEMA. The band started with the concept of creating innovative and cosmopolitan dance music by not fixing its members.
Inspired by Harry Styles, Flying Lotus, BLACKPINK, and Ryuichi Sakamoto, GENEMA’s powerful yet delicate alternative sound features unforgettable melodies, raw and striking beats, and a deeply resonating low end that evokes an exhilarating sense of fear. Their music is stirring up excitement as it hints at the future of a new musical era.
Terada explains, “One day, I hope GENEMA becomes a dream dance band that crosses borders and genres, with contributions from artists like Harry Styles, Thundercat, and Flying Lotus. Just imagining the kind of groundbreaking music we could create is beyond thrilling”
Their avant-garde music transcends genres, stirring a worldwide storm.
