Manx Virtual Railway
Добавлен 16 июн 2017
Dedicated to virtually modelling the Isle of Man Steam Railway in its entirety using Train Simulator 2021.
With no custom assets available and my limited ability to create such things, a great degree of imagination is required to supplement the visuals.
There is no rolling stock that is suitable for 3ft gauge in TS so far and other narrow gauge assets simply look too small. So the route is modelled in standard gauge with close approximations used for rolling stock.
The route is also modelled in the present day, with modern assets, as if the all the lines had still continued to operate instead of just the south line.I've found this gives the greater realism as the landscape is far more recognisable and it also gives me more leeway for artistic interpretation.

Manx Virtual Railway: A trip to Peel
After some updates to the scenery it's time we revisited Peel! Another more cinematic experience rather than a cab view.

Manx Virtual Railway: Operations at St John's

A special video especially for the Manx Transport Festival. The video includes examples of how double headed trains from Douglas would have been split up to service Peel and Ramsey, How Foxdale trains would have been run and it also includes the hallowed Peel vs Ramsey Race!

We take a trip on the old Manx Northern Line to a very popular destination for tourists and sunday school picnicers alike!
Manx Virtual Railways: St John's Station

A guided tour of the various facilities at St John's. Perhaps the most interesting station on the Isle of Man Railways and at one point an interchange between 3 different lines!
Manx Virtual Railways: Douglas Station

A virtual tour of the Foxdale branch recorded especially for the Virtual Rush Hour event run by the Isle of Man Heritage Railways group. Sit back, relax and enjoy!
Road 11 in the goods yard was a sunken siding for loading wagons. Last used in 1970.
Cool that's some talent stuff plus it's so realistic that the actual thing =)
excellent, needs to happen in real ife! :-)
This is amazing
very good and imaginative - looking forward to the real ride one day!
You and me both!
Another great trip on the virtual railway, well done Callum, scenery is great! Would love to have this on my computer :-)
Thanks Jon, It's Ian btw not Callum!
@@manxvirtualrailway Sorry Ian, must be getting old and forgetful!
Brilliant! Please share to Re-instate the Douglas - Peel Railway on Facebook.
Is this route going to be released publicly?
I plan to finish off the South and North Lines and then release. This will require an awful lot of addons to make it work as I never set out to make it public and thus used everything at my disposal. I hope to have this completed by xmas. Once I've completed the lines I will look at a v2 and rationalise the add ons i've used to make it more accessible.
@@manxvirtualrailway Ahh okay thank you :) I will definitely look into getting it!
Fantastic that, I'm 60 now and remember travelling on the Peel and Rsmsay on lines. My uncle Eric Lockett ended up being the landlord of the Central( Farmers) in the 70's n 80's. I also ended up playing football and cricket for St johns. Right on to your other videos😊👍🍺good stuff
Also, if you wait for the brakes to get to 25 inches then you can get away quicker.
Where can you get those coaches you use?
Hello! I use a few different packs but the ones that look closest to the manx stock are in the freeware carriages pack available here: www.railworks.marleyman.co.uk/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=21
@@manxvirtualrailway Is it the UK carriages #1
Hello.Hope you are well.Enjoying your route and scenarios. Is the route available to purchase or download anywhere?
Thank you for your kind comments Hansi. I'd never intended this to be made publically available but there seems to be a demand for it. I'm aiming to complete the northern line over the summer holidays at which point I will explore ways in which it might be made available for download.
Brilliant
>:3 Hello-
Brilliant!
Thank you!
That was absolutely FANTASTIC! What a joy to see a train crossing Glen Mooar Viaduct. Well done.
Thank you Paul! Glad you enjoyed it!
Brilliant!
Loved every minute. Thank you for allowing us to experience these lines. If only we still had them 😭
Glad you enjoyed it!
Turntables missing
Hi George. Indeed I've chosen not to include it atm. The available turntables in train sim are too big and create all sorts of problems in the scenery. I've been experimenting and hope it may be possible to include in future however realistically it was only used to turn coaches to weather the paintwork evenly.
Only just seen this and it's brilliant! Thank you for all your efforts on this project.
My pleasure!
This is great! thank you
could you possibly do the Ramesy, Foxdale and south lines?
Hi George. Foxdale is complete and a video will be released on Monday as part of the Virtual Rush Hour event. At the moment the Northern Line is complete as far as Kirk Michael and is progressing steadily. The south line will be the last one I work on as the main reason I chose to do this was to be able to experience the closed lines.
Will it be available for download?
At the moment no. It's a huge, huge file and requires an awful lot of assets from various TS Add ons (which are very expensive frankly). Unfortunately when I started building this I never considered packaging it. If there was enough demand and the current lockdown continues for a long time I may consider going back and restricting the assets to say, the Isle of Wight add on. But then the visuals would be even more limited.
Manx Virtual Railway that’s a real shame, it looks amazing and all I could think about when watching it was how awesome it would be to drive on it
@@manxroyal Never say never. Once I've finished I'll evaluate how big a task it would be to make it available and see whether it's plausible.
