Tornado back in action - Nene Valley Railway - 19/10/2024
In October of 2024 the Nene Valley Railway would be host to A1 No. 60163 "Tornado" for two weekends, these being 19th - 20th and 26th - 27th. After many delays during it's recent overhaul the A1 is finally back in action, and it's great to see!

A brief pop in on Sunday 6th of October to the Mid Hants Railway aka the Watercress Line for their annual autumn steam gala. This year's line up consisted of - Unrebuilt Battle of Britain No. 34072 "257 Squadron" - 41xx Large prairie No. 4144 - 66xx No. 6695 The theme gave an almost joint railway hub with Southern & Great Western trains.

From Thursday 3rd to Sunday the 6th of October the Severn Valley Railway held their annual Autumn Diesel Gala which featured a pair of "rats"! On the afternoon of the 29th of September 2024 I took a trip up to Northampton, for the Northamptonshire Ironstone Railway Trusts 50th Anniversary Day. In action during the day were Peckett No. 2130 and Class 02 No. D2867, top n' tailing on the main demonstration line, whilst recently restored Fowler "Flying Falcon" & Ruston 88DS took part in shunting demonstrations in the yard.

Saturday 24th of August saw D1935 (47805) "Roger Hosking MA 1925 - 2013" & 47593 "Galloway Princess" working the Dorset Coast Statesman from Nantwich to Weymouth and return. First we see the pair top n' tailing through Beaulieu Road on the outward journey, then later on in the evening the pair, now double heading, race through Ashurst New Forest on their way back to Nantwich.

Farewell HST. Glad I managed a couple of trips here in the last weeks of service. A long journey and only around 2 1/2 hours here before getting the return HST home.

A sad day indeed. I had my own farewell trip to Bristol a few weeks ago and was hoping to see the last public and this charter train but both were timed far too late to see them so I missed seeing the retro livery power cars in real.
Yes, definitely a sad day. Awww that's a shame, but a few are already preserved so hopefully you'll see some retro liveries one day! ^-^
@@BethsRailVids Well it is not that I have not seen any in retro livery I did get video of 43 184 which unexpectedly arrived in Leeds soon after the Deltic had departed 24/09/2022 and sure to see other preserved ones in future

@@BethsRailVids Preservation hopefully likewise for the LNER set that has never been seen again, the last I heard on that it was dumped outside but there is drone video of the yard and no sign of it on that.
