Are you given a lists of sugical instruments to pull for that particular surgery?
Preference cards are used for all surgical cases which have equipment needed and instrument trays needed also sutures , meds and other items you may need.
I am going to start this job in 2 weeks yay, I am excited
Awesome congratulations 🎉
starting clinical next month sacred
It can be nerve wrecking but just keep your mind open and ears open take instruction from those around you and be positive . Wanting to learn and being accepting of others’ advice will help you along the way . Good luck I hope it’s a positive learning experience
do they have pictures for you to know what surgical instruments is what or you do just have to know by memory ?
I have them memorized but some people use instrument books if they are unsure of some of the names
Did you flush everything already?!?!
Thank you for the content ❤️
What’s the age limit for this field?
What sizes of gloves is appropriate to use in double gloving
Usually should be a bigger size under and your actual size above just for comfortability so it isn’t too tight
I'm an ST student and want to go into L & D after I graduate but haven't been exposed to it do you have any advice?
If you’re at clinicals asks your clinical professor if you can do a rotation in L&D and another facility or at the facility you’re at . They can usually help grant you access to L&D
How did you learn the name of the instruments , how do remember all of them any advice?
Repetitiveness will help memorize instruments. You also have count sheets that should have number and names of each instrument as you put tray together. I started from scratch hands on teaching under a great manager. That helps. After you receive 400 hours you can schedule through IAHCSMM to set up exam in your area for your certification.
I studied the basics with flash cards and pictures with details when I was in school but the other ones like specialty instruments I learned while working with them and as the previous reply repetition of using them also if you work in spd for a week or two before going into the rooms you’ll have a better chance of learning them and remembering them
Why no test on lap instruments? Did blow out them with forced air..???...hmmmm seems like RED FLAG...but every hospital requires different 😳
U right didn't see a test strip in the basket
How many OR suits does this hospital have? I am thankful i work at a large hospital, having a computer tracking program is great.
What are the runners called
SPD is an easy job, that being said, people tend to overcomplicate it all the time! That is just my opinion.
It’s not an easy job. I’m brand new to SPD and have never been in an environment like it before/never went to school for it. It’s not easy starting out and is a complicated job with many steps to each station. But once you get used to do everything then it becomes easy
@@jewelvitolo1998 Duh, ISN'T THAT WHAT THE PERSON SAID! READ YOUR OWN COMMENT, LAST LINE....SO TELL DON'T YOU FEEL SILLY 😂
*I started my first week and I loved it, I can’t wait to continue my training* ♥️
How do i put on surgical gloves over the surgical gown cuffs for surgeon
I will make a video on this asap
@@glamtech_2151 how long dose it take you to put on surgical scrubs top and bottom and sugical shoes covers and surgical cap and surgical mask and surgical gown and surgical gloves over surgical gown cuffs
I just found your channel- thanks so much for sharing with us!!! Your videos are invaluable. 💛💛💛

Hello mam I from India. I am a cssd technician and i have 2 year experience in this field. I studied bachelor of sterlization technology management from recognised university in India . I want to be work in your country. What are the requirements for applying this job??
Go back to school in U.S for sterile processing and get certified and start looking for a job
where did you go to School and how long was the program?
what state is this hospital located?
CON IN SPD: 90% of workers are lazy..
Can you do a breakdown video on how on call pay works?
So I see in your old videos you did surgical tech ? Now you do spd this was a very good video I’ll be done spd school next month and I’m nervous for internship
I. the video I explain why I’m working is spd our hospital is small so when we’re really busy I do it all I scrub cases and then help wash and sterilize instruments it’s good to be well rounded in everything and don’t be nervous and be open to learning
Nice 👍 video informative 👍
this is Joseph Collen Shaw from Buffalo , NY. I have a major crush on you.
Starting a Sterile Processing Technician Program later this year that bridges over to a Surgical Technician Program. So watching these videos are really informative and helpful.
Awesome I wish you lots of luck and I hope you love it 😊
Just apply for a non certified spdt position at your local hospital, they train you and you'll get paid while you train then after you've completed 400 hrs you can take you licensen exam... save your money thiers no need to go to school for this career... super easy career
@@Sazonmannot a lot of people take people that have no cert in the career. They’re starting to get strict on it now
Hi! Love your videos! I work as a Phlebotomist in a hospital and have been thinking of taking a Sterile processing course and possibly changing careers. Is there a lot of heavy lifting in this career? As a phlebotomist, always bending to draw blood is starting to take a toll on my back. Not sure if this is the right career move, please let me know your opinion, Thanks!
Yea there is a lot of heavy lifting tetas weigh at most 25 lbs and at times we are sterilizing and wrapping about 10 ortho trays which can get pretty heavy
I pass my bored exam 2 weeks ago but externship hours 400 or 270 ? This confused me plus I have to drive 1 hour for the externship tho my school doesn’t have a contract near to my place so bad about that
Hi any study guide I’m taking the exam in May
400
How was it ?
Ashey this is Joseph Collen Shaw , I love you.
How did you remember all of those instrument name? I am taking classes online and some instrument just can stay in my brain.
I just studied many of the common ones often as a student we had instrument tests every week but most of them become known when working in the field
Start class this week 🥲🥲

Every hospital has different policies my hospital requires us to double glove as employees not all surgeons double glove
@@glamtech_2151 ok thanks!

Hey, I'm Ariel. Is scrub tech school hard? I want to wear the hair color "pink" and have "cheek" dimple piercings. Can you info me?
Hello Ariel , I think it all depends on you if you’re willing to put in the work to study and do the hw it shouldn’t be too hard . I believe some schools allow that while others do not , where I went to school did not allow any of that
@@glamtech_2151 No, I'm saying I can't even trust my parents. I'm nervous, you know.
With my mom, who are you to tell me what I need to do and you didn't even pass your lpn certification exam?
I just want to ask you this how much can you make as a "Main OR" Scrub Tech? I'm 23. I'm scared, u know. Do you get health benefits and insurance benefits as a scrub tech? I will be 26 starting out as a "scrub tech". My plan is to really become a "Cardiologist". But I will have to be a scrub tech for two years, you know
Hey hun , sorry for the late response to answer your questions it all depends where you are working some places pay less than others but I would say starting can be between 18-25 per hour again depending where your are being hired. And also depending where you work and the position you are getting hired for you get benefits. Some places offer benefits and some places don’t just be sure to ask benefit questions before accepting a position if thats important to you . And what a goal !!! I’m sure you can do it just stay motivated and focused on the end goal !! I hope I was able to answer your questions. And thanks for your support ❤️
This helped
I’m glad it helped . Will be posting more soon
