Great ways to learn! I used ETS2 in the past to learn driving and languages at the same time, but now I walk and workout while listening to podcasts or those boring language lessons about "800 daily words in X language"

I learned English doing pretty much the same from Portuguease to English. Remember wanting to learn so I wasnt rob by people speaking english like It happened to me before.

I know many may not want to learn Latin, but I am hosting a google classroom for learning Latin. The code for the class will be mpxjaha, and we will be using the complete idiots guide or learning Latin (third edition) which will not be necessary to join the class, but it is preferred. The class is completely free!

As long as you don't rely on DuoLingo to teach you. It is a minor supplement. That ought to be the key point here. I recommend point and click games because they are full of dialogue. Also try GOG and filter by language you can get a great game on sale for 5 bucks or less.

Reading is the best long term method. Doing other things like speaking, listening etc are good and important but it gets tiresome to work that everyday. But...if you read physical books you can measure your progress by seeing your library expand on your shelf. Thats motivating.

I can attest firsthand this method it is , tried, tested and true!!! .. Coincidentally I learned German about 40 years ago when I was posted there as a young Canadian soldier, literally decades before the Internet. And all I did was read my Berlitz self teach book to myself outloud, then speak to people in my day-to-day life there. To this day my German is very fluent and I have an amazing accent according to German natives that tell me so.

Well - something you should do along with other things. And not by watching anything. That won't really help at all - just talk to yourself in your target language about what you are doing - Je fais les courses. Oh, ou est le pain? Ah - le pain est la bas. Etc. Having something on where characters are speaking seems like it would distract from doing that. And - there is a lot of other things you can (and should) do. I don't think you could learn a language by doing that and nothing else...

That's exactly what I've been doing to learn french, it's really useful!

just watching content with subtitle is very nice way to learn language too . brain just start to pick things up slowly .

I agree 100%. I actually started doing something similar - to start a podcast in the language you are still learning. I only have a few episodes so far with like 1-2 views, and like 20 times during each show I use google translate to remember a word, but I make it "part of the show." This helps because it creates a "reason," as opposed to just talking to yourself.

I'm guessing it could be good to ask it something like 'I speak these languages xxx, suggest a way for me to approach learning yyy.' That way it could technically utilize things you already know to teach you new ones faster.

I want to learn languages I only know 3 languages and it takes me a long time, what would you tell me to learn faster, I know your point of view is subjective but I need some advice, right now I'm studying Arabic and German. I just started, what would you tell me to make it more effective?
