Mazda CX 90 BorlaTMuffler 4inch QuadTips ColdStart
Have a 2024 Mazda CX-90 - Turbo S - Premium Plus - really wanted more "sound" a little more "Snarl", installed a Borla T-Muffler - single 2.5" inlet, dual 2.5" outlets, along with some dual walled 4" quad exhaust tips. It's just enough to know, there may be an inline 6 Turbo in play! This is a "Cold Start" at about 67 degrees F.

    Still cant believe they went with hidden exhaust especially on the cx 70 .. The rear would look so much better even with a dual exhaust like my cx 50

      @r0adranger interesting. Honestly thought it would sound louder. Not trying to hate but it definitely reminds me of stock exhausts on some N/A V6 cars like an old Odyssey we had. Personally I like it but I was expecting a bit more from it

    • @r0adranger
      @r0adranger Месяц назад

      @ayushmalpeddi2793 agreed. Without getting rid of the resonator or the cat in the downpipe ....this is it. Plus either of those options will surely induce a lot of drone....

      @@r0adranger These turbo'd Mazda engines are really quiet. I have '23 CX-5 Turbo, put a pretty tame Racing Beat muffler on and it just deepened it (step in the right direction) - the 5 has larger forward resonator and a very small rear one. I saw someone on line replace the larger case with straight pipe on a Mazda3 Turbo, and it gave it a nice amount of tone and more frequency you'd get from an NA. What I did not get is any drone. Originally I put a Corksport axle back and it was *way* too much drone for me, this set up is pretty nice, those turbos muffle a lot. Maybe be the first to try that resonator delete so we can try to hear that I6. That could end up nudging me to a 90, is everyone else as rubbed wrong that they'd go stock no-tips? :-(

    Were the exhaust cutouts in the bumper made? Or is that something you can buy? The stock cx-90 doesn’t have that. I want to do this to my cx-70. Edit: never mind I found the forum post. I’m not going through all that lol. Looks absolutely perfect. Good job.

    @listonsaint 3 месяца назад

    thanks for your reply-So, you are saying that if I keep the Factory muffler -I can find exhaust configurations that will work but it will not look cosmetic -see it underneath look like cheap aftermarket? I want to use the factory muffler -what would be you opinion this is a 60k car. thanks,

      Go to a shop and remove the resnator which is the muffler in the middle changing the muffler won’t change the sound much remove the resnator which is after the catalytic conveter and should be a lot cheaper

    • @r0adranger
      @r0adranger 3 месяца назад

      @@Bananananann Yeah, thought of that too, more worried about increased "Drone", assuming the resonator is handling some of that too....

      I'm not sure .... too bad Mazda didn't already have rear exit exhaust, because then you could most likely upgrade exhaust tips. We tried to make mine look "As Factory" as possible, but it cost a little more .....

  • @listonsaint
    @listonsaint 3 месяца назад

    thanks for your reply -still little confused-my CX90 has split exhaust -out of each side of muffler-why do you need another muffler?-can void my warranty-I assume-can you just get the muffler shop to use the dual exhaust and extend it out the rear with your tips, etc., cosmetic? or too low under bumper and will see the tubing -look like bad aftermarket junk thanks,

    • @r0adranger
      @r0adranger 3 месяца назад

      @listonsaint so, factory mufflers on any car, typically do a great job at "muffling" "Quiet". Some of us were trying to get more sound out of the inline 6. The Borla t-muffler is made to have more of a performance sound and it is about 8" less wide. Since it's a little smaller, that allowed me /shop to use 90 degree bends, to attach exhaust tips to, to come out where you see mine. You can't do it that way with the factory muffler. Also, be weary of just any shop moving wires and sensors that sit in the lower section of the rear bumper.

    Take a look on Mazda CX-90 Forum for different ways to i stall the Borla T Muffler. As far as cost, it depends....$300 ish for a muffler.....extra $100-200 for exhaust tips.....then...labor and welding......

  • @kennethhielscher1949
    @kennethhielscher1949 4 месяца назад

    WHOA!!! I want THIS for my Turbo-S!!! Puts the CX-90 right there with my son's Bimmers for sound! If you don't mind, what's the cost? 😛

    • @r0adranger
      @r0adranger 4 месяца назад

      Cost .... not 100% ... Muffler was about $300, 90 Degree elbows were about $50, Exhaust tips SS dual 4" were about $160, then labor and time to cut plastic, weld everything together, probably another $500+, really depends on who you're working with. I wouldn't necessarily trust any old muffler shop to cut your OEM plastic valance and successfully "Move" the wiring out of they way. I weant to a known custom shop that tunes, dynos, builds drag cars etc.... they helped me do the whole thing.

    • @Bananananann

      @@r0adrangerI would recommend getting a shop to cut your Resnator off as on these CX90 it seems restrictive and not letting noise out

      @mgt2092 barely noticeable.....but I do have some serious sound deadening in the rear hatch, which could be softening it...(subwoofer upgraded).. I do still have the factory resonator up front as well. See the cx 90 forums, another member did it differently with the same Borla muffler (before me)

      So, I bought the Borla muffler at Summt Racing : www.summitracing.com/parts/bor-60714 I bought the 2.5" inlet and 4" outlet exhaust tips from Wesdon : www.wesdonautomotive.com/double-wall-exhaust-tips/?page=4 - then you'll need to figure out how to run the exhaust tips, either like I did, or not cut anythng, and install singular tips, approximately where the stockers are. A buddy on the Mazda CX -90 Foruums has a post there, just search for Borla Muffler you should find it. (Rhodium-White-Takumi thread and my thread talking about my frustration with all the wires and modules in the lower rear valance that we had to move out of the way.)

      Are you guys both sure you really enjoy this? Idk about you guys, I did this setup to mine and its so dissapointing. And theres hella drone to it too. Same Borla T muffler but tips downward but can see them and are cool new actual tips. I even had a 14 inch resonator installed too and the tone is not there. Quited down the boominess but this setup, bass notes are out of wack. I even had the muffler taken off to drive without it and that sounded awesome but too much drone very loudly at low speed stuff. Only works if you just hound dog drive it. Im selling it once my other setup arrives. Ive done exhuasts for a few cars now, the 90 is a tough one.
