One of the geniuses of this 🍿 film, is how Rohmer makes us care intrinsically about the fate of Delphine, a rather needy, annoying character; by the denouement, atop that St-Jean-de-Luz hill with the lucky loser in a Roger Federer lookalike competition, I was rooting for her, such that every time I watch this film (40? 50? Thereabouts), I cry uncontrollably at Delphine’s epiphany. It is, quite simply, one of the most glorious endings in cinematic history, and a worthy reward for, not only the somewhat trying-on-the-viewer’s-patience Delphine, but also for the viewer themself!

Как неожиданно,фильм на русском языке,прекрасно

Обожаю этот фильм с тех пор как он появился в кинотеатрах Москвы в начале 80-х! Ездила в тот кинотеатр , где он шёл. В кинотеатре Повторного фильма у Никитских ворот он шёл на языке оригинала (было и такое в Москве)... Какой-то невероятный шарм есть в нём, Жанна Моро, музыка, и трагедия и юмор, и любовь и жалость... всё очаровательно. И правда жизни, но не давящая, а какая-то воздушная... Спасибо за фрагмент! Ищу фильм целиком...

I've always loved the sailor bar sequence. It stands out because musically it's very Kurt Weill. Thanks for posting this. The soundtrack is a few seconds behind the action though.

Russian dubbing, no style. Destroys the whole film

Great movie... I don't know what language the voice-over is speaking in, but it's bloody annoying and very disrespectful. There is such a thing as 'subtitles'. The voice-over is 1: ugly, 2: not in keeping with the film, its style, contents, mood, etc. and 3: disruptive. French film, French language. End of story.
