Decanting the Collection - Fall of the Rebel Angels
Measuring almost 3 metres in height, Samuel Forde’s Fall of the Rebel Angels (1828) is one of the largest paintings in our Collection. Listen as Dr Michael Waldron, our Curator of Collections and Specials Projects, guides you through the work’s fascinating history, and gives insight into the work’s journey off the wall, and into temporary storage as part of our decant.
The decant of the National Collection is part of our ongoing capital redevelopment project, Transforming Crawford Art Gallery. If you’d like to read more, visit crawfordartgallery.ie/redevelopment-main-page/

WELL THAT IS 37 SECONDS OF WASTED TIME
Thank you for sharing! Very much enjoying following this process!
looking forward to the upgrade
Gotta love your washi cozo!
It's a strong image, but I think it should not be hung that low. Much more powerful if his eyes were same eye level of an average height person - more confronting. Also, why pink walls? Neutral walls display artworks and their colour with far greater fidelity. Maybe after the refurbishment...?
Yup, perfect portrait of a psychopath LMAO
You have an amazing mind. And I love your work.
Love your work!
This is so lovely to watch. It's inspiring
Really good energy with clear helpful information :) Cork city is really lucky to have such great gallery with a rich history
Love this idea
Great exhibition, moving- saw it a while back and as a republican all my life and a proud Corkman and having lived up north for a large period of my life it was fascinating to see stories behind the picture, thought I was familiar with lots of the happenings but not all, Cork needed this and from a neutral/ human perspective Well done- haunting stuff
Thank you, Billy! Hope to see you at the gallery again soon.
Please keep up your great work for the people of Cork and all her visitors
Thank you, Ger! We do try and hope you'll visit us soon! Have a lovely new year.
enjoyed the selection hated the music. Congratulations on re-opening
