One of my favorite songs from my favorite album of all time. It's not often I do vocal covers since I'm really not much of a vocalist, but this song gives me enough feels to give it a try. My basic philosophy with a cover like this is that the emotional flow can only really come from the performance. And for a virtual performance to really feel like one, it should a) be one take, and b) have vi...

@@DanSaillant#1: Playing with a pick was a requirement, and that just tells me you skimmed over the rules and only read the audition part. #2: "Zero interest into forcing myself into limiting technical boxes for the sake of a job" Well, clearly, you were interested in getting the job, seeing as you made an audition.😂 You skimmed over the rules, and when people in the comments told you that you needed a pick for the audition, you got super pissy for no reason.🤣 You could've just taken some extra time out of your day to re-record with a pick and not be an asshole in the comments, but you didn't. Anyone with common sense was never gonna hire somebody who acts like a child over a comment. Also playing with a pick wasn't gonna fucking kill you.😭🙏 #3: Fear factory was never looking for a super technical or flashy bassist. They've never had a bassist like that nor have they had songs that require that. That's why the pick was a requirement. They weren't looking for the next Ryan Martini or Victor Wooten. Dino heard your cover, thought it was cool, and liked it on insta. I'm sure he did that with a lot of the auditions he found good, so im not sure why you thought that automatically made you special. Playing with your fingers was eaiser because you're good at it. Any decent bassist can play this song with a pick but with fingers? That takes time and alot of playing and your average bassist isn't using 3-4 fingers to play. That's also why the pick was a requirement. Creative freedom is good, believe me, but if you couldn't even follow simple instructions, you were pretty much screwed from the start. "Yeah, i want to audition for fear factory, but I wanna use my fingers even though the rules clearly state that I need a pick so i wont end up getting the job regardless." I seriously think you made this cover, uploaded it, and when you realized it required a pick you just made a bunch of half asked excuses that didn't line up with your intentions at all.

Much appreciated! I believe these are BH2 but this is a fairly old bass (I wanna say 2014 or 2015?) so I'm not entirely sure. They have a pretty clear but mids-heavy sound. I used to not like them because of how mids-heavy they are, but then I tried out some EMGs and realized how good I have it haha. I don't have any youtube vids with them yet, but I have the new BTB multiscale 6-string with the ibanezx T1s, and they are EXCELLENT. Clearest noise-free pickups I've ever played. I was worried about the proprietary shape in case I didn't like them, but that was def an unfounded worry
