Ep26 | Our First Impressions of Spain in the Pandemic: Gijón, waves & dogs on the loose
In this episode, we check out Gijón and the most popular beach in the area, both for dogs and for surfers. The boys tried out their surfing skills on a fin-less board and we lose Aksel in the water.
When we arrived in Spain, we felt like we were finally back on track in our sailing plans. We were in “the south”, as we Norwegians so lovingly have labled any country from Spain and southward in Europe - basically anywhere where one could depend on a warm climate for a vacation tan…And, there were palm trees everywhere! A definite sign of the warmer latitudes we were soo looking forward to! I, Liv, really enjoyed the charming old city with it's cobblestone streets and beautiful architecture. ...

In just the short time we have, tho, we discover a little of the area’s cute nei...

    In "the South" now, but looks like you still have to wait for the warm weather. Boys don't seem to mind. Lots of fun at the beach... but then a scare! Big shoreline, currents and waves, easy to get 'lost'. I wonder why there are more dogs than children? Next episode looks great.

      When Essen came walking up to you, it was sooooo obvious to me what had happened - sometimes a wave knocks you off a boogie board, and all the way to the bottom, and it feels like you’ve been kicked by a mule. The fear in your voice when you couldn’t locate Nikolai was gut-wrenching. Sorry you went through that.

      @@RebelRobin501 Yes, it was sooo scary! It was a massive beach and the waves were pretty big... It was impossible to find him just from looking from the beach.... So, Eivind threw his clothes off and went out to all the surfers if they'd seen a boy in a wetsuit out there.... We'll, everyone was in a black wetsuit and they were looking for waves, not at each other... It felt really scary at the time!

    Congratulations on completing your most ambitious sail to date. Quite a mix of conditions, that you seemed to handle well. After the rough start, it was surely heartwarming to receive a visit from your ever faithful ocean companions. (And fortunate, yes, that you got no visit from their big, mean cousins.) A pretty sunset, indeed, at 13:18, 15:18. I thought that the dove coming on board was a good sign, but- alas- that didn't end well. Have a good time in Spain, look forward to your ongoing voyage.

    YEA!!!!!! A new video! I was thinking maybe ELANE had been lost with all hands crossing the Bay of Biscay! What’s become blatantly obvious is that there was no actual “science” behind the lockdowns and that the lockdowns were ineffectual and a complete waste of time. THANK YOU for showing your family engaged in a prayer. You can occasionally tell that cruising families on You Tube are families of faith, but they rarely or never mention it - almost as if they’re afraid to be open about it. Frankly, I don’t understand how anyone could sail long upon the oceans without coming to faith. Psalm 19.

    • @SailingELANE
      @SailingELANE 7 месяцев назад

      Yes! And yes! I am very open about my faith. (Might not always have been, though.) I love the Lord and always will no matter what gets rocked around in my life. Jesus is my foundation for everything. And, the Bible is full of treasures for life if one is open for it! <3 He who seeks will find. :) Nothing to be ashamed of. My biggest prayer is that everyone will meet the Light of the true life in Jesus who is the way to God.

Okay, I do realize that this was a just a skit and the boys did a good job of managing the boat.
