Stance Practice
After spending a long time feeling uncomfortable on the shot and unable to see the shot line while at address, and trying (but failing) to fix this with changes to my grip, stroke, or visualization, I have made some adjustments to my stance.
Moving my lead foot to the left and getting my body out of the way allows me to feel more comfortable on the shot, cue straighter and avoid steering, and to be more consistent with my execution.
Here's a quick practice session being more deliberate with my stance to help build some muscle memory and reinforce the benefits of this change.

Nice 👌🏻
Nice crack
OnlyFans coming soon...
Cross bank 2 rails on the six. Hit top right on the cue ball to push 7 out of the way.
I would miss the pocket and probably scratch the cue ball.
Well, at least you are honest. 🤣
Lol
Pockets like buckets.
They are between 4⅛" and 4¼". Not as tight as WNT Mosconi spec, but hardly buckets.
@johnaskew147 I play snooker, to me they look like buckets.
I play snooker also. There isn't much difference. Snooker ball is 59% of pocket mouth. Pool ball is 55% of pocket mouth (4⅛").
Now I know how you’re always in stroke! You got the pockets tightened?
I'm most definitely not always in stroke. I assure you. Pockets are reduced from 4.5" to somewhere between 4⅛" and 4¼".
Play pool Barefoot.
Would be a shame to waste the carpet pile. 😂
The ball is not rolling right either you edited it or that felt has been vacuumed
Shorts only allow up to a max of 60 seconds so the clip has to be sped up to fit.
Why would you shoot the 6 before the 5?
You wouldn't. The balls were played in order.
He shot the 3 then made the 6 the. Shot the orange 5
@@KyleHicks-ko1prAfter potting pink 4 on the break, the order was yellow 1, blue 2, red 3, orange 5, green 6, brown 7, black 8, yellow 9.
Nice one 👌🏻💥
Thank you! I think this is my favorite BnR so far...
Good stroke tempo!
Thank you. Appreciate the kind words. 👍🏻
This is actually fun to watch because you're not a professional. I don't mean that to be an insult.
Appreciate that. Thank you. I can see how my less than perfect patterns might be more entertaining than a perfect professional run out in some ways. 👍🏻
This is some of the slowest cloth I’ve ever seen
The video is sped up to fit within the 60 seconds allowed by RUclips shorts. 😉
Nice 👌🏻
Thank you! I got very lucky with the 4-ball. 😂
your cue action is not good enough to require you using a carbon fibre shaft go back to a wood shaft my guy
Wtf are you talking about 😂, carbon fibre helps more with the deflexion of the cue ball than with the effect. Anyway, you could use the one you like the most 😅
@PepitoGrillo416 I don't use carbon shafts and never will I'm a wood guy through and through
Thank you for the tip @tibojones My cue action will never be good enough, but I am going to stick with my carbon fiber cues for now. Will upload a what's in the bag video soon, and would appreciate your thoughts on the rest of my equipment. 👍🏻
@johnaskew147 I appreciate your response and have to reply that until you improve to a level that can handle it you don't need carbon fibre unless of course you are telling me that you are a professional player and you use the carbon shaft as a means of winning titles?
@@tibojones I'm not a professional. I'm a decent amateur. My best title so far is 2022 APA National Poolplayers Championship Nineball Shootout (black tier), and competing in this year's US Amateur Championship in November. I switched from Ash / Maple to Carbon Fiber because I prefer to have a consistent low deflection shaft that is replaceable with a near exact counterpart so I don't need to worry about adapting to a new cue if it ever got damaged or warped etc. I also like the fact that I can carry duplicate shafts with a worn in tip pre installed to swap out mid tournament if anything should damage the tip etc. What do you see wrong with my technique specifically that you feel needs to be improved to warrant using carbon fiber?
Nice 👌🏻
Thank you! ✌️
@@johnaskew147 welcome dude
Nice one John 👍🏻😉🍀👌🏻
Thanks! 👍
So does the guideline for the rack not mess with the balls path at all? Looks handy
The templates are pretty thin. A very slow moving ball might be affected by it, but normal shots to a lesser extent. You can always remove the template after the break too.
Well done but you fouled on 10 ball
Correct. Well spotted! 👍🏻
You fouled
Correct. Well spotted! 👍🏻
@@johnaskew147 Eagle Eye mate. If you're not on my team I'm calling that!
10ball
Correct. Well spotted! 👍🏻
Yo bro keep up the good work that was so cool 👍
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words. 👍🏻
Dam, he almost did it. Hit the 8 ball in when there was only 1 ball left. Better luck next time
I'm confused. You know this is 9-ball, right? 🤔
Nice man! you're so good at pool!
Thank you! That's very kind.
That 4 ball fluke was anything but predictable though... Looked like you had fun.
Yeah, that could have been my chance. 😂 I had a blast! 👍🏻
Slowest rolling felt I have ever seen.
I see this a lot in the comments. I think it appears that way because the clip is sped up to fit within the 1 minute limit for shorts. Also think people aren't accounting for the English I am playing with to kill the cue ball when playing for shape.
@@johnaskew147I didn't realize it was sped up. 🤦♂️So obvious now when I watch it. 🤷♂️ Ooops, my bad.
Why was the music off😭
Not sure, maybe just a short audio clip. Shame because it's a good song.
Facts
610 Fargo not bad
On a good day I play at a high 600 speed, and on a bad day a low 400 speed. 😂
Not a run. Just a break. You missed the 6
I played a combo with the 6 to make the 8. It's hard to see because it's deep in the pocket, but it's definitely a break and run. 👍🏻
Good grief, what lovely clear up!
great shots and pathing mate only thing would be to slow down.. 90% of misses is the rushing of the shot
💯 I have been rushing the shot a LOT lately because I am generally playing on my lunch break and trying to rattle through a few racks as quickly as possible. Not good practice though, and much better to slow down as you say. 👍🏻
good--I ve done it 7/8/9/10 ball over 2500 times under 60 seconds!!
I've done it 2,501 times. 😂
@@johnaskew147 Ill pass you tomorrow--LOL
@@BangTimePool You will indeed sir. 💪🏻
@@johnaskew147 Keep promoting this great game bro--love it!!

I try to cover some basics in my tutorials playlist. See: ruclips.net/p/PLdPxXyG4Ds2Y_wmqU1c5F54jyzDLb-v0K&si=hsl6QVOqbKKiqN9c
Good run. Now, try it at regular speed without edits. It’s a skill to break and run a 9 ball rack in under 60 seconds. Too bad RUclips doesn’t agree! They reward luck and editing but not true skill!
Thank you. I've done a one minute break and run for today's short for you: ruclips.net/user/shortsjBLOsdPZ-bc. Generally speaking though, I have no desire to run out in under a minute. I much prefer to have a nice tempo than rush while at the table. Hopefully nobody thinks I am trying to misrepresent the shorts as not being edited to fit within the 60 second limit enforced by RUclips.
@@johnaskew147 Nice run. It's tougher with a legal break
@@johnaskew147 I love Tony Drago
@@johnaskew147 I can do it with 10 ball too
@@HillbillyIslandLife I look forward to seeing it.
Faul on break
I'm curious. What was the foul you are referring to? Thank you for the comment.
1 ball go in but when 1 ball go in the scratch 2 have to cross the second diamond of the table on break and that's it,and no ball cross the half table
@@viniciobedin3558 In some rules, I'm sure that is probably correct, but there are rulesets that only require either 4 balls are driven to a rail or at least one ball pocketed.
@johnaskew147 yeah I'm talking about the most famous torneo soo, maybe in some other variation u probably right, but a was saying faul for the official rules of 9 ball
@@viniciobedin3558I do vary game and break formats on these shorts, and have done Matchroom break box with 9 on spot, Texas Express, 8-ball etc. Will make sure to include some with balls reaching the kitchen too. 👍🏻
Well done sir couldn't have done anything better
Thank you. Appreciate the kind words.
Nice!
The white seems to slow up so easily. The white really does seem to come to a quick stop (without stun or spin).
C'est un tapis en moquette ? du bulgom ? Ce freinage du roulement est absolument inacceptable pour du billard français.
It's Simonis 860 but I think speeding up the clips makes it look like it plays slower. However, it is definitely not as fast as a 3 cushion table with heater and new slick cloth.
Shit music
😂😂😂#theperfectbreak #9ballbreak
Very good shot on the 2 and 7, well done
You have a very nice rest/bridge and very good shot on the 8👏🏼👏🏼
You got lucky on the 3 by kicking the 3, but you broke and ran out the rack, very good👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 well played John, I'm going to watch the rest from 01 to now👏🏼👏🏼
Absolutely. Sometimes you need a bit of luck to keep the break going. Better to be lucky than good, as they say. 👍🏻
Why the music, but i like your video
I have to speed up the racks to fit them into shorts, and audio isn't great when sped up, so the music helps hide that a bit.
Thats amazing
Thank you.
