Why have I never heard of this artist? Love the female portraits, especially "At The Market" and the first "Twilight" in the landscape grouping.

His liking the occasional long narrow format, both vertical and horizontal, is perhaps a Chinese art influence? I’m sorry I’ve never heard of him. Wonderful work. He really did paint the light and not the object which I believe is the soul of Impressionism. Not always the best at figures though. 2:46 3:02 4:23 Imho. Very much liked 👍 and subbed.

To correct you, He was Sir Arthur Streeton, knighted in 1937. It is impolite not to give him his due as he earned his knighthood for his services to art.

Korovin was just one of the magnificient Russian Old Masters---they were better by far than their French and Italian counterparts in their diversity of subject matter and their expressionistic handling of colour. Unequalled, every one of them!!!

This is the Russia that I fell in love with growing up, not the monster it became under communism.

I am so glad that I have learned of this artist and his art. His art carries a deep emotional, human, nostalgic load. Had his name been italian, French, Dutch or German he would be the household name everywhere in the so called West. Where can his art be seen?
