His phrasing on Acoustic Piano on the" Now He Sings Now he Sobs" LP 4yrs before seems less mechanical or more precisely has more short utterances framed by space so beautifully framing Roy Haynes beyond hip running commentary.

Very, very good improvisation on one of the best Metheny's pieces. Only, the "tone" of the guitar is kinda too harsh and there is too much echo in it. Perhaps, nylon strings Ovation would've been better choice here...

I have transcribed many similar Corea solos. This is I good video, however, I think the pace may be too quick for many jazz newbies! For one, it would be very helpful if you slowed down the original recording when displaying the very short visual excerpts, as they fly by! Or else perform them yourself on the piano at an accessible tempo, so that the transcription image remains on the screen for a greater amount of time. Thanks, Paul David Seaman

Chris Farr is truly one of the influential persons in my life. I recall when he was a student teacher at my/his Alma mater Overbrook High School. As part of his syllabus, he had to teach us youngins. One of his lessons pertaining to improv, was that he asked us to pick three notes. As you hear here. My mind was blown in the fact that three notes could make or have such an impact!!! An incredible teacher as well as an influence. Should you be privy to hearing this cat let loose.... Enjoy and thank you Chris!

Ive come back to this video many times.........Thank You for sharing this gem. There is a wealth of information in this solo, and as is his Captain Marvel into and solo. Some of Chicks works could actually be used as a standard curriculum. Chicks Children songs whole works are a good schooling template in of themselves.

Great arrangement I love it. Care to share a transcription?. My only complaint is the strings sound too bright - a bit like how a drummer can spoil a song by smashing on the cymbals too much that dont fit - maybe use older or heavier strings to kill that metallic sound because it sometimes hides the beauty of the chord harmonies.
