Heralded at their outset by Rolling Stone as "America's Best New Band," the resilient Silos mix punk, roots, rock, and sage art-damaged truth telling. They've created a sound that's hard to pin down. "The band's austere style inflects the astringent twang of The Velvet Underground with the drone of R.E.M. and adds countryish echoes that recall Gram Parsons," offered The New York Times. Their latest effort and 12th studio album “Family” was released in 2022.

COLORADO RIVER from The Silos album "Family"
Просмотров 3,3 тыс.2 года назад
The second video single from The Silos "Family" album. Colorado River will become an Americana Anthem. By describing an epic journey by raft down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon, the song connects humans and nature to the eternal through the majesty of the environment and the metaphor of the river as life's journey. Plus it's a fantastically catchy ear worm!!
The Silos "My Favorite Animal" Lyric Video

The first single from the album "Family by The Silos “My Favorite Animal” is a melodic rock effort with a funky groove and sticky guitar and organ hooks. The lyric condenses the diversity in our cultures and ecosystems into a beautiful universality. Certainly the right message in troubled times.

This song is as much a homage to primitive rock as it is to primitive humans. It's muscular delivery celebrates the power of man AND woman as they work together to build the human race. Of course it’s also relevant to today’s gender equality and me too movements. In the video, the scenes of me singing are from the shores of the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon, one of the oldest geological ar...

This song speaks to every artist’ s desire to be remembered and and especially to have their work remembered. We come into this life creating our songs and weaving our stories, and leave behind memories and the songs that embody them. “You’re never a legend, until you are gone. You come in a singer and leave a song.”

Ah- the mid-80's at QE2 in Albany, NY. Wonderful times.
Looks like hes taking a shit.
Walter is a terrible frontman. Hes so self conscious it makes my skin crawl. Its like, he's hoping you think hes as cool as he does. Turnoff.
Majoe Georgia Satellites vibes!
You’d think the professional in the TV band would’ve checked the tuning on his acoustic before he started the song 🤦♂️
Hugh Johnston brought me here. Over 30 years ago.
Everything Bob Rupe touches is gold. They got super boring without him, Cracker got better with him.
You think these guys rock? Check out one of John Galway’s other bands, The Psycho Daisies. The best thing to ever come out of Miami.
Mary got married
Great song. Fantastic tribute to the awesome beauty of this place captured in words, music and an outstanding video!
WOW! I bought this album when it came out and have never seen any film of these guys!! Their first album was also superb.

Like the voice of many waters. Soon a great trumpet will sound, it will pierce every heart and every atom. This will either be the greatest most wonderful sound ever heard or it will be a terrible sound. Jesus is saying "you are either with me or against me" Will *you* be beloved? 🌊 🌧️ 💦
❤ this song brings me back❤
852 subscribers and now mine makes it 853. Walter Salas-Humara: a true road warrior with the heart of genuine artist.
Checked to see if I'm subbed. Yep. Rock on. 🙂
Wow...
The Silos "About Her Steps," "Cuba" and "Silos" are unrecognized greats.
How Fucking cool was that!
Walter Salas Humara is a rich boy asshole.
This is sick af
This guy ever do anything with Ellis Paul? Different roads, maybe, but goodly compatible keel-settings perhaps. Maybe e-pluribus-unum someday, for something worth singing about... (random dylan/byrds tribute album etc.?) Just saying...
I booked this band 37 years ago and they still stand up. WAY ahead of their time.
Where?
This is one of the songs on this album i like as much as the ones on Cuba. the Silo’s “Cuba” is one of my all time favorite albums. Bob Rupe has the midas touch.
Great album, great song. You never got as much recognition as you deserved. Hope the new tour is going well. Thanks for being an important part of my 90’s.
Where is the drummer hiding? 🤔
I’m going to see them tonight 3/9/23 at The Lonesome Rose in San Antonio. I can’t wait. “Cuba” was my most played LP in college in the 80’s. Even beating out mighty Big Star’s 3rd
🙌🏻👏🏻
When I was at UT Knoxville I saw the Silos for 2 dollars and 50 cents. Now all the post punkers College Rocker and just in general music heads we're there at the U club on the strip. There were probably 4 or 5 hundred people there. I'd like to thank the Silos for helping me meet and better yet hang w some really cool people Go Vols!
I know this song and group is from the early 90's, but damn I absolutely love this!!
After Bob Rupe left, Silos were shit.
Thinking of each and all of The Silos tonight...
Nice! Great guitar tone!
Hispanics regard the dancing one man band as a sign of impending doom
Los acabo de ver en su gira por España, el día 1 de octubre en la sala mardigras de A Coruña, grandísimo concierto, y un gran acierto llevar en el merchandaising le reedición en vinilo del disco Cuba, imprescindible su compra
I'm kinda biased to the bass player. Bob's not just incredibly talented, but he's one of the nicest guys in the world.
Just beautiful
Most of their songs don’t allows comments. Such a fine band.
Chicken skin
So, i accidentally discovered u guys when i live- recorded ur kcrw 1988 performance right off the FM stereo signal broadcast as it happened. The rest,as they say,is history 😎🎤🎸
Pulled out this CD for the first time in awhile. It's still quite awesome.
