Correct. To clarify, the routing is: Minilogue -> Radial Reamp -> Digitech Bass Synth Wah -> Audio Interface and DAW. Since the strength of the signal going into the Digitech pedal determines the sound it makes, the reamp pedal helps with dialing in the signal for consistency. It isn't a must-have, but it helps.

@@efhess When i had recorded this video, I had initially set out to do it on the bass version with a bass guitar as that is what I had also heard. However, I wasn’t able to dial in a consistent sound due to the sensitivity of the pedal. More specifically, playing something lightly would make one sound and playing something harder would make another. During recording I decided to swap to the “guitar version” with a guitar and was able to find a closer sound to the record and get a bit more consistency. However, since the pedal picks up on how hard notes are played, the notes aren’t always consistent when hit. In the brainwasher segment where I’m playing it on guitar, there’s a distinct “quack” sound that was due to me hitting the one note bit harder and the pedal picking up that heavier signal. After messing with recording on guitar, I later switched to using the synthesizer through the pedal since I knew it could provide a more steady volume and not produce unwanted “quacks” during recording. The synth was then used for the bulk of the video. All of this to say: it could be the bass pedal and it could also be the guitar pedal. On equipboard, I think the current status is “unverified” since there’s no concrete proof to show it is either of these pedals. Meaning daft punk hasn’t come out and said “yes we use this pedal” and there also isn’t any known photo or video of them using one. However, I can’t think of any other pedal that has this same effect. I may make a video in the near future similar to this one where I’ll try to do the same thing but with the bass pedal.

Agreed. When I initially was recording this video, I had started with the bass synth wah and was trying to dial in the sounds on bass. However, I found I was able to get better consistency with the regular synth wah and a synthesizer going into the pedal.

Definitely not a dumb question and is actually a fair one that I had to think on. Since the original recording is just spoken language, its hard to determine what the exact notes are since its spoken word. Since the song is in F# minor, it could potentially be the note F# repeating. There is some variation in the pitch of the vocal, but it doesn't seem to be enough to be considered something other than the root note. In other words, the chromatic scale doesn't include an interval that accounts for that variation. The question of asking what the vocal melody is would be like asking what the vocal melody would be of any famous historical speech given that we have recordings of. I could be wrong on my answer here, but this is my best guess of answering it.

@keithphotorama This Guitar Center link is the closest thing i could find to the bridge i have on it. At $20, its a relative cheap option if you're looking to upgrade the bridge. Squier has begun to do a lot better in the quality of their guitars. I have a squire p-bass that has started to see a lot more usage in comparison to my MIM Fender J-Bass.

Mine! 😅 It still gets plenty of use here, but I'll keep that in mind if I ever decide to sell.

Tuners and truss rod seem fine, but it definitely needs an initial setup as the action came in high. I've made some adjustments to the truss rod and saddles to lower it down, but haven't been able to get to the factory-recommended string height without frets 12-15 buzzing. I'm currently working on getting a hold of a luthier in my area to take a look at it. I'll give an update once that's done

As an update, I had a tech look at it who refused to touch it due to how much bow was in the neck from the get-go. Currently working to get it replaced. Will let you know how the replacement turns out.

@@julianwoodman2338 Thanks, I'll definitely keep you posted. Strangely, I bought one of their Sub series basses (the most budget-friendly version) and it came perfect right out of the box. There's a review on musicians friend for this exact bass where the guy says he had to go through 3 of them, but the third one was fantastic.

Oh, that’s not good. I guess the only sure way to ensure that you get a good one is to buy one from a physical store which isn’t easy to do these days. I’m in the UK by the way and am hoping that they got a good batch!
