Hi, great Video! Planning to do the same on my T6 California. One question. Is the heater working after the conversation also working as an additional heater as right now or only as a heater to heat the engine and interior before driving?
@@RobertPflügner hi. Will work as both
@ I have gathered all the parts needed but I am struggling with the Pins used for the black connector and the Red VW connector. Do you have the PN available? Thanks for your help! Cheers Robert
@RobertPflügner i have spare pins and connectors. Feel free to reach out.
@@RobertPflügner Hi Robert. Responded to your email. Hopefully you have received my response.
@@busbits yes, well received and responded this afternoon. Cheers Robert
Great video!! Thank you very much! My van is a vw caddy and the heater is the Thermo top vevo. Do you think that could work in my car? Thank you!!
@@Elorri83 it should but probably requires a bit of research to understand what's needed on the sw side
Very informative and useful. What is the name of the application are you using to find out parts. Thank you
Name of application is Etka.
Very useful. Thank you👍
Thank you for all your videos, as im just about to get a T6. These help me understand what to look for regarding possible future maintenance requirements.
This is the type of content which makes RUclips great thanks for making the video you have empowered me to do this. 👍
Is this the same on a t5.1?
No. No reflash is needed and telestart units are different. I wish I had a t5.1 near so that I could do a video - I even have a set prepared for t5.1
@ Thanks, I didn’t know that! The reprogramming made me not want to do this. Is the wiring just as simple? Wish there was a video on this. But thanks again 👍👍
@@AhrnNilsson If you're willing to try it, let's get in touch. Feel free to leave your email or wa number.
@@busbits Would be perfect, but I live in Sweden 🇸🇪 And also one of the companies that sell these kits told me today that I don’t have a compatible heater unfortunately, mine only works with the engines on, or that’s at least what they wrote me :|
@@AhrnNilsson Not a problem, you're in the EU so easy
Thank a lot for sharing! Will the telestart 3Q0963513B also work? You mentioned only without a letter or A at the end. Thanks!
@@joflobi yes, it should
@ thanks a lot!!!
This video is excellent, providing honest and straightforward advice without any nonsense. Thank you, I have now subscribed!
For the record, the official ELSA (VW) process allows to slip on all fuel lines before doing the prime with the diagnostic interface. I am keeping one line directed to the canister because I like to absolutely make sure that the filter is full and there are no air bubbles inside.
Hi mine t6.1 engine shacking a lot when cold and a bit of fume
Респект.
What models are your wheel drives? And where to buy 3d models for 3d printing air ducts? Nice garage! Nice DeLorean)
I have this feature on my T6 california, but AI am not sure if it works properly. It switch from high beens as on video when car passing me, but it absolutelly ignore incoming cars. It is not usable on roads. Is it problem or "feature"?
It's definitely a problem. Did you have the HBA retrofitted or it was there from the factory? Are you the first owner?
@@busbits Thank you. I had it in previous car (seat) and it works well so I thank that it is wrong now. It was retrofited last week on my request by local serviceman. I think it is software issue, because it recognize other cars in any situtation, but it cannot recognize approaching cars.
@karfCZ yes, the retrofit guys probably didn't add the right adaptations. I suggest to go back to them and ask to fix it
Hello sir,I have a webasto auxiliary thermo top v,how can I change it to parking heater, thanks for helping
Hi, is there a software change that converts the Webasto system from an auxiliary heater to a parking heater?
@@gamerumutpasa Hi. This is explained in the video
Hallo ! I have a T6 150 hp 2016 and Dpf regenerates every 300-350 km . it's normal like that ? The car does not give any error... Thank you very much!
@@alexhiticas4198 Yes, this should be okay in my opinion. It depends on the driving conditions. A traffic jam daily car will regen a lot more frequently.
I am grateful for this useful content, my regards sir
Great video! Do you know if that will work on Golf 7, 2016? Basically, can I install T6 mirror in mk7? I don’t have ODIS, only VCDS. Existing mirror has autodim and rain sensor wires. Thanks
@@gleb676 Thank you. Unfortunately I don't have experience with Golf.
Hi Thanks for great guide. My T6 does not have the green/white wire. I have accessed the Webasto unit and have confirmed no wire in pin 2. I cannot work out how to route a wire from under to seat to the Webasto unit. Any ideas please?
Hi. Do you have Transporter or Caravelle/Multivan? Do you have Climatronic?
Hi Thx for reply. I have actually working out how to do and have routed the wire. I’m now trying to find someone in Southern UK who could do the firmware upgrade for me.
@@thomasknight6463 Great! It's interesting what model Van do you have because most vans have the green/white wire going to the red connector. Do you have Transporter or Caravelle?
No green/white wire so have routed my own wire to pin 2 on the Webasto unit under the van. T6 California Beach with Espacher parking heater.
@@thomasknight6463 Very useful! Many thanks!
Curious, are there any comms over the comms cable or is it just applying 12V? I do not really need the remote, I just need a way to turn on the parking heater without engine on. Also, after pressing on, how long does it run for?
Hi. I am sorry I didn't see your question. No, in T5 and T6 it is not analogue signal. It is controlled via w-bus. You can install the telestart receiver and route a button from it to the dash. This kind of video is on my to-do list because it could be quite clever solution.
Hello nice video. Do you know the torque setting for the cooler to EGR bolts please? Bolt 17 on the diagram @4:23
17 - Bolts ❑ Renew after removal ❑ Qty. 6 ❑ 12.5 Nm
@@busbitsAmazing, thank you. I did not know they needed to be replaced. Do you have a VW part number for these bolts?
Cool!!! I need your 3d models too 😊
Well explained 👍
Hi good video. Do have a link to that manual?
Thanks. Which manual?
That service manual 406 you show at the one minute mark. I'm mostly curious about if i can take fuel from the Webasto engine heaters fuel line if I install an air heater for overnight camping. Because that's what I have to do, right? There's no way of turning the factory Webasto into a camper heater?
@@busbits you show the snippets of the text of "manual" throughout the video. Would also kindly ask if you could share it. Loved the video! A lot of very useful info as information about mounting this heater is quite scarce
@@YansVanHornThank you. It's not a manual but a booklet for dealer education so that the staff know what they are saying when they talk to customers. There is absolutely no instructions in there. I plan to release more videos with instructions later
@@busbits i see. Are you able to share the booklet you mentioned? still looks quite useful
Did this actually make any noticeable difference to the 'feel' of the steering?
@@Kevin_Aus in my case - no. The reason for the stiff steering as I later worked out, was the absence of the servotronic system. This is a planned upgrade although I don't know if I will ever get to it.
I have a P0401 "EGR A Flow Insufficient Detected" error on my T6 2017. Do you think this error could also be due to the intake pipe, or will it be something else?
@@j2pwak I am far from being an expert but I think pipes are the last thing I'd check. Its either the stuck egr valve or clogger egr radiator
@@busbits Thank you for the help!
Güzel video , iyi iş teşekkürler
Excellent job
Thank you for the video - it is excellent. Would you please have the part numbers for the interior harness between the coolant and air heater? On the right side it would have the blue 10 way and in the left it would have the red 17 way. Also the harness up to the control panel. Many thanks in advance. Kevin
what are those wheels? custom? oem?
Navis schmoov
Very useful. I think you got lucky finding one of those used. From the ones I can find it looks cheaper to buy a new Airtop/Airtronic and fit it in a not so sexy, non-OEM way. Looking forward to part 2 though. This and the steering fluid video have been very useful.
Depends on where you are. In the EU the kits like mine are still easily accessible
@@busbits Doing a bit of searching around I've found quite a few in Germany. A bit of a road trip but maybe I can find something that can be shipped to Norway. Thanks!
@@Fekillix send me a msg on contact at busbits . eu and I will send you a link to ebay. Looks like they will ship to Norway.
@@busbits Hey! I couldn't find any way to contact you on your website, but I have found several for €600-800 on eBay. My T5.1 has the most basic comfort control module so I wonder if it will not be possible to retrofit the heater without changing that (expensive), that is at least the case with upgrading to cruise control and steering wheel buttons which I don't have (I have four wheel drive though, so that's nice). However just finding the original air ducts and mounting would be ideal, then maybe I could get a used identical non-VW locked heater and use the regular Eberspacher controller. I have a bit of time on my hands as I bought my T5.1 on auction sight unseen (lesson learned) and unknowingly bought an incredibly rusty example (Norwegian road salt), so I spent my entire summer vacation last year taking the doors off, grinding rust and painting inside the door shuts, now hopefully I can get the exterior painted this summer (Using bedliner). So I won't be getting in any trips this year either I think (car is not registered and needs some other things to get road legal again).
@@Fekillix Sorry to hear about your auction story. The BCM version is not relevant for the heater retrofit. Regular Eberspacher will cost more.
What's happening, still waiting for part 2.??
Sorry mate, been very busy with other stuff. Hopefully I can get back to publising vidz soon
Hi, great video :) Do you think this can be retrofitted to T5.1?
Hi. If you mean T5 after 2010 - yes, with a change of the BCM it should be a relatively simple process (complicated for a novice).
@@busbits any chances that my current BCM from 2011 will work with it?
👍👍👍
Hi, i got this error message, would you know what is the problem, i get the hba symbol on the dash, but its not working Function limitation due to implausible message
Hi. Unfortunately, as far as troubleshooting goes - I can't help.
Great Video very well explained thank you !
Thanks for the excellently explained video! I have a 2017 t6 euro 6 and on cold start in morning the idle is gone very rough. This morning I noticed fumes coming around the egr area,Do you think its most likely the intake pipe is leaking? Would this cause the engine to cough and sputter until it warms up? Thanks again! Subscribed.
Thanks. M9st frequently it's the rear pipe that leaks. You would notice blackening on the front pipe but as mentioned, it's the rear one that is known to cause problems
That sounds like your diesel injectors.
Great Video , will help a lot of people because there is very less information about engine -repairing of T6 .
Thanks. I've replaced a turbo 2 weeks ago - will issue a video on this some time next few months.
Superb video, this helped me massively. Thank you.

Awesome! I was looking for this exact information. I bought a Webasto Air Top 3500 for my transporter. I need to connect it to my california overhead display. I am now in the progress of figuring out the connectors I need to gather. Do you have any good source to buy the connectors from? Looking forward to part 2 of this video. Thanks so far, you helped me already a lot with this video (y)
Hi. Thanks for the comment. Did you get VW oem webasto or the regular webasto?
@@busbits I got an original VW Webasto Air Top 3500 from also a Transporter California. I am in search of the 6-pin blue (T6Y) and 6-pin brown (T6Z) connector under the passenger seat which fit on the wiring harness of the car. The Webasto Heater already has the correct connectors. I found the cables coming from the display to the blue and brown connector, only the connectors are missing in the car... However I find them hard to find... Do you have any tips? Much appreciated :D
@@DanielvandenHoorn please post the part numbers from the plugs that are on the heater. The wiring diagram is different for early T5s.
Hello Eugene! This video inspired me to install remote control on my van t6gp. I've installed 3Q0963513A. It works without reflashing the heater ecu. However, now I dont have an antenna. Could you kindly help, what frequency fits 3Q0963513/3Q0963513A (with A)? I have searched "antenna FAKRA" but in the video you mentioned 2:29 "worked really well...slightly different frequency ". Anyway, thank you very much! This was the first retrofitting in my life and your video helped me really well!
Hi. what do you mean T6gp? Do you mean T6.1? Don't bother about the frequency, just buy the fakra antenna on ali and try it. It worked really well for me and it only costs 3 euro including shipping. By the way, there is no difference between the reciever with/without A at the end.
@busbits Eugene, yes , t6.1, just found out that in ELSA the production naming is T6 GP so I typed the same. About the antenna I can buy any antenna even if the seller declares that frequency range is between 800-2500 MHz?
