I will never forget Peter Williamson and his camera car, it was unbelievable and breathtaking at the time, If I had the $$$s I would have bought a Celica on the Monday even though I was a Holden bloke. 9th outright and two classes down while commentating, I was blown away.

This is a fantastic video and I love footage like this, especially when it's well narrated like yours. It's amazing to think that 3 years on, Queenscliff (originally retired in October 2021) and Freshwater (under renovation when this was filmed) are still in daily service. Narrabeen, originally retired in June 2021, is set for drydock in June; her and Collaroy are currently stored behind Cockatoo Island. Collaroy was retired on September 27, 2023 is yet to be given a fate.

Sorry but you are wrong in saying that Lang Lang is the only proving ground in the southern hemisphere. Ford has a proving ground at You Yang and Lindsay Fox owns one which is used by Toyota.

It’s pathetic that GMH doesn’t exist any longer. I don’t care that it was uneconomical to maintain. They should have found a way to keep Holden going in some capacity because it part of the Australian psyche, culture DNA. Australia needs manufacturing badly.

How awesome being able to get access on the track. My uncle used to work for Holden at the proving grounds back in the day. As a local I really hope this place gets turned into a Motorsport facility for the people since it’s for sale again

Why do some car shows always need music blaring either through dodgy speakers, or have bands of questionable talent doing the same. Apart from that, thanks for filming and sharing this video, so many classic cars it must’ve been hard to know where to look.
