Nice comparison! I worried about fan noise when SER8 is working on idle. And I thought "SER7 was better?" because I didn't know how SER7 sounds like on the heavy load. Now I can think that I chose SER8 was correct, after I watched this video. Thank you.
Hello. The tests are very interesting, it's incredible that the latency test passes without any problem. A question, if you had 100 audio tracks, with automation, loaded with 5 to 10 plugins per track (and whatever else you can think of, even the densest ones), multiple routings and reverb and delays, how did it work for you? Even if you put 1 reverb and 1 delay plugin on each of those 100 tracks, how would it work?
since i have the ser7 i'm almost doing just sample based beats with not so many tracks...right now i'm mastering an old house track project with a very heavy mastering chain with way too many plugins (in new projects i try to avoid too many plugins in the mastering chain but because it's an old project the mix is very weak) and the ser7 is struggling with just one track, but i also use several instances of soothe, gullfoss, 5 cpu heavy maximizers, high pass and low pass filter automations at the same time and so on ...playback was ok and just struggled when the automations happening but then i added an instance of voosteq model n channel to the already way to big mastering chain and now the pc can't play it anymore without dropping out constantly....a couple of months ago i mixed and mastered a sample based hip hop track with two rappers and pretty long vocal chains, filter automation, ... all in one project and no problem with dropouts or playback....so it really depends on the plugins
SER 7 is like putting on ANC headphones for SER 8. 😅
I believe disabling CPPC preferred cores makes audio buffer underrun less, but beelink refused restore the option in BIOS/UEFI. Windows scheduler is dumb.
very interesting, thank you ...i did a quick google search what cppc preferred cores mean because that's above my knowledge level
If you still have SER8, it seems it is possible to turn off CPPC preferred cores in BIOS/UEFI by enabling advanced mode. but I don't have SER8.
@@RaceDriverMIKU thanks for the info...i have the SER7
did you have 396 active tracks or 612? how long was the loop?
396 active tracks....but with all the groups in count a lot more tracks
@@TripleDoubleOG187 Good stuff. I see you have reviewed several minis. Which would you recommend for music production?
@@opinionatorX ser8 or ser7 ...now is a good time...you can get a nice black friday deal for them on amazon
Appreciate you doing this. I am looking into getting one of these. What is the ram and hard drive size?

Its funny, the Ser8 sounds the same under load and idle but the ser7 seems quieter at idle but noisier under load. I'm thinking about buying one of these and having a really hard time on deciding which to get . They are both the same price where I live as well.
if they are the same price i would go with the SER8
Hey, really good video. I was looking at other beelink mini PCs and I was wondering if the SER8 Ryzen 7s or the SER6 Ryzen 9s were any good. I use FL Studio and i was researching mini PCs because i’m wondering if my 50+ track projects won’t cpu overload haha
i've tested the SER8 and the SER5 MAX ....i didn't test the SER6 because i read nothing good about the cpu generation from that year between the SER5 MAX and the SER7 is a huge performance gap .....till now i had no problems with SER7 or SER8 to produce, mix and master in the same project file you can check the test videos here ruclips.net/video/wUZhTE3yEvs/видео.html ruclips.net/video/v7qmQM178A0/видео.html
@@TripleDoubleOG187 alright thanks
Just to clarify - so this mini pc on 7840hs can handle 30 tracks of diva?^^
in this test project 30 without the chords ....you can download the ableton 11 project file and test how many instances your system can handle
Great video! Thank you!!! What about FAN noise? Is it silent or noticeable? Especially on higher cpu load?
i got the SER7 in winter and i described it as nearly silent for a few months but now in summer, when i tested the SER8, noise was clearly noticeable...both on SER8 and SER7 under heavy load the SER8 was quieter as the SER7 and vice versa both are pretty quiet machines but noise gets noticeable at high room temperatures check out the 2 comparison videos i made about the SER7 vs. SER8 fan noise ruclips.net/video/FXHAmnJJkHY/видео.html ruclips.net/video/7VXwvSnUuGw/видео.html
Many other reviewers say the SER8 is very quiet, some say they can hardly hear it, yet your sound review is the complete opposite. Something just isn't right, who to believe????? Oh well.
both machines that i have tested are pretty quiet, i raised the original audio from the video footage around +45db also consider that i made this test in summer in a pretty hot environment when i got the SER7 in winter, i described it as nearly silent for a few months but now in summer, when i tested the SER8, noise was clearly noticeable...both on SER8 and SER7
How do they both compare in performance?
i only test them for music production ...SER8 has slightly more power and i would go with that but if i can get the SER7 cheaper i would take it ...check out the test videos!
Thanks for your quick response! I like the look of the ser7 it's cheaper and comes with a bracket to mount on the back on my monitor so will go for that one.I like older games and upto 1080p so I am sure it will be fine.
@@carlgreene538 you just want it for gaming or also music production?....i never recommend minisforum mini pcs that i have tested for music production, but for gaming you might like it more, connectivity and build quality are very good, you can check out the models i've tested on my channel...maybe you find an even better deal on them
Just for gaming I have never had a PC before just iMac's and Mac Mini's so want something compact.Music wise I prefer records.
@@carlgreene538 ok cool....like i said you can also check out deals of the minisforum mini pcs i have tested
thank you for your reviews! (subscribed!).SER8 seems to be cheaper than ser7 now. Is SER8 as reliable and smooth in audio recording-prosessing as SER7 ?
i only had the SER8 for a few weeks, so no long time experience...but i would only choose the SER7 over the SER8 if i could get the SER7 cheaper as the SER8
the most confusing thing is small buffers are the hardest on resources. Large buffers should make the computer sweat way less and lighten the load.. This demonstration seems to be backwards? The more you "eased up" the worse it got. (used more resources when it should use less)
if i'm not mistaken this only happens once ...so i could open more instances at 64 Samples Buffer Size as with 96 Samples Buffer Size....it was extremely hot when i did this test, maybe the pc struggled with the heat at this moment
Qué rendimiento tan bestial!, así si me cambio a este mini PC, Wow!
will this compare to a exact laptop that have this exact chip ? i mean the Legion 5 Pro
i hope i can test this soon but right now i can't afford a legion 5 pro and it's too hot in my room to make a meaningful test
Which is quiter i hate noise plz suggest?
it depends...ser7 seems quieter under no/moderate load, ser8 seems quieter under heavy load ....if you can get the ser7 significantly cheaper get it, if not i would choose the ser8 ...check this out ruclips.net/video/7VXwvSnUuGw/видео.html
how's the performance of 8 compared to 7 in terms of gaming?
don't know...i just make music production tests and don't play games
What do you think? Is ser8 quieter than ser7?
ser7 seems quieter under medium load...ser8 seems quieter under heavy load
Hello many thanks for this test ! What about heat and fan noise ?
the ser7 runs pretty quiet and cool but now in summer when it's really hot the ser7 and the ser8 can get more noisey and hot but nothing to worry about...check this video ruclips.net/video/7VXwvSnUuGw/видео.html
Hi, firstly I want to thank you deeply for this one, I’m looking for buying a Windows mini pc (for the first time) and came across on this new beelink when it was announced recently. I’m also an Ableton user so you got me there either😂 The video was really helpful especially for a music producer, the most reviews out there just talks about gaming, and im more focused on the cpu performance And talking about cpu, i read online weeks ago that the new Amd series (the AI APUs) that is going to replace this 8000 series is stating a lot of upgrades in terms of cpu and gpu performances I took a closer look and Amd is going from 8 to 10 cores but with a lower clock speed (from 3.80 ghz on the ryzen 7 here to 2.00 ghz on the newer models). Do you think is worth at this point waiting for the ser9like models (maybe the end of the year, with the Amd AI out end july) or going for the ser8 with less cores but with a better base clock speed (of course for music production task mainly) Dont know if you can have a take on this one cause I put a lot of things on the table here, but i red a lot on reddit about waiting for the newer models and I just didnt understand why, especially with our prospective in mind
my conclusion from everything i read so far is that for music production we should prefer higher clockspeeds (ideal 3,5ghz and up)...maybe the architecture of ableton and cpus will change in the future and more cores become more important as higher clockspeeds but at the moment that's my level of knowledge
i raised the original audio from the video footage +24db
ser8 is much louder but all youtubers claim it is very quiet, because of 28w tdp and cooling system with vapor chamber. what is going on?
consider that i made this test in a pretty hot environment...i'll do a 2nd comparison under heavy load
@@TripleDoubleOG187 I made a mistake. It has up to 65w tdp, not 28w. But because of efficient cooling system it should has a noise level below 32dbm. Robtech name it "amazingly quiet"

I'm not saying you have to do requests, but I am curious: if you have the time, would you mind looking at something like the number of instances of Diva you can have running on something like the SER7? I realise the results will depend on the patch and the DAW. My current set-up can deal with one or two (with high quality settings) before having an aneurysm!
i had the same problem couple years ago when i tried diva and decided then ok, unfortunately diva is not for me...i'm also curious and already downloading it but it will take some time to do the test...do you have any other requests or suggestions besides using diva on high quality settings?
@@TripleDoubleOG187 Hi! I left a message yesterday, but either my browser or YT ate it, so I'm back to try again. I think I said something like: Thanks for looking into it for me. Right now I can't think of any other tests, I'll let you know if I get inspired. As far as general suggestions go, maybe I should share a couple of things that have helped me as far as electronic music goes:- I've recently been learning Renoise, after promising myself I'd do it for a long time. If you can, I'd really recommend getting to grips with it. At first I regarded it as a 'mere' sample playback and arrangement tool, but over time it's become more of a modular synth and ideas factory. Compared with other DAWs it's so far the best way by far to get the sounds in my head out in a coherent fashion. Obviously Diva doesn't quite fit with this notion, but I've been using slightly different synths than the 'industry standard' ones like Serum or Massive, specifically a couple of UAD ones: their morphing wavetable and virtual analogue (polymax) VSTs, in order to avoid sounding too much like everyone else. Aside from the fact they are also quite CPU hungry (maybe not a problem for your setup?) again I really recommend checking them out.
@@mattsmith1440 so i did a quick test and made a short video....21 diva tracks, 3 tracks including chords....30 diva tracks without chords...check it out ruclips.net/user/shortsoZDmvFFp780?si=FN4zZOzUB97UUjqL
@@mattsmith1440 i never heard of renoise before, thanks for the tip....right now i'm not really into sound design, i'm already overwhelmed with writing, producing, mixing, mastering, life in general and i'm spending way too much time in front of a computer...i demoed uad luna and some uad plugins a couple of days ago...luna looks promising for just mixing and mastering, but i was not so impressed with the uad tape plugins (i thought for years that they are superior to other plugins but after testing them i don't feel i need/want them) and i don't like the hassle with ilok, so i don't f**k with uad at the moment...if i find the time to learn a new synth, it would be vital because i need to learn how to program crazy basslines for edm...besides that i'm pretty satisfied with my arsenal right now but of course i'm always interested in new things, so thanks for the recommendations!
@@TripleDoubleOG187 Well, learning a new DAW has never really been high on my list of fun things to do, so it took me several years to get around to Renoise. I’m glad I did in the end though. Are you working on your own music or for clients? I ask because I don’t think you’ve uploaded any tracks here yet.

Hello, I was thinking about buying this mini PC to record a musical demo at home. I thought about this PC because it is not very expensive, I have seen it for €800. I am not very expert in music production, initially I would use the Reaper and Guitar Rig programs. What do you recommend about this Mini PC?
unfortunately i can't recommend any Minis Forum mini pc for music production because of the bad latency performance ...the Minis Forum mini pcs are powerful and well build but the latency monitoring software shows so many dropouts...the UM790 Pro had the worst latency performance of all mini pcs i've tested so far ...for music production i recommend Beelink SER7 (best price/performance ratio) or the Beelink GTR7 Pro (tiny bit more power as the SER7)...Beelink already dropped a new mini pc the SER8 with the 2024 AMD processor 8845HS which looks very promising on paper, i will test it as soon as i get my hands on it
@@TripleDoubleOG187 Do you know the reason behind the fact that Minis forum mini PC had more latency problems compared to the beelink SER7? What problem does the Minis Forum Mini PC has that the Beelink SER7 doesn't have? Also thank for all the mini PCs that you have tested for audio production so far, great work!
I'm thinking about buying the Reatan Alloy 9 Mini PC, have you ever tested this one? What are your thoughts on this mini PC?
@@MusicByPhilipp i don't know the exact reason but with windows machines it's always a hit and miss (this latency issues don't occur on apple machines because all components complement each other) but it's really surprising that all beelink mini pcs that i've tested so far have very good latency scores
