The Remnant
США
Добавлен 25 дек 2023
The Remnant is an online video ministry dedicated to sharing God's word in short, practical and easy to digest formats.
We often wonder how and why God saved us. Hence the name, The Remnant. In short, God's remnant are those who understand they are saved by grace and not by works (Ephesians 2:8-9). According to the Bible, remnants are the few who survive after a large group is destroyed. This is exemplified by the accounts of Noah and his family, Lot and his daughters, and Elijah. In the New Testament, Paul says that only a remnant of Israelites will be saved. “...for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is narrow and the way is constricted that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14)
We simply want to encourage others to follow Jesus. I’m a video producer, and Jennifer is a therapist, currently working on her Ph.D. in philosophy and Biblical counseling.

Wow, what a start to Job’s story! His unwavering faith, even in the face of unimaginable loss, is both challenging and inspiring. Job 1:21 hit hard: 'The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.' 💬 What’s one lesson or verse that stood out to you from today’s reading? Let’s share and grow together in our understanding of God’s Word!

Someone made a great point on the other post about this same Scripture. Basically, we need more context. I couldn't agree more. Here was my response: You're absolutely right that Jeremiah 33:3 was a direct message from God to Jeremiah in a specific context-it’s crystal clear when you read the surrounding verses that this promise was tied to Jeremiah’s role as a prophet during a critical moment in Israel’s history. I completely agree that understanding the original audience and context is essential when interpreting Scripture. However, I would argue that while the specific promise was to Jeremiah, the principle it reveals about God’s character applies to all believers. Let me explain: This verse reflects God’s desire for His people to seek Him in prayer and His willingness to respond. While the exact promise was for Jeremiah, the invitation to call on God is a recurring theme throughout the Bible. For instance, in Psalm 50:15: “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will rescue you.” Matthew 7:7-8: Jesus teaches us to ask, seek, and knock, promising that God hears and responds. These verses show that God’s openness to hear and answer prayer isn’t limited to Jeremiah-it’s a part of who He is. Many promises in the Bible are tied to specific people or events, yet they still teach timeless truths. For example: Joshua 1:9: God told Joshua to be strong and courageous because He was with him. While this promise was specific to Joshua, Christians often draw strength from the principle that God is with His people. Similarly, Jeremiah 33:3 shows us that God responds when His people seek Him-this is consistent with His character throughout Scripture. The surrounding verses highlight God’s plans for Israel’s restoration, demonstrating His power and faithfulness. While the context is unique to Jeremiah’s time, it reminds us today that God remains faithful to His promises and hears His people’s prayers. I agree that we need to approach this verse carefully and not claim it guarantees the same specific outcomes Jeremiah was promised. But we can still see it as an invitation to trust in God’s responsiveness and His desire for us to seek Him. Thanks for bringing up the importance of context-it’s a great reminder to dig deeper into Scripture. 🙏
🙌✝️ how promising ❤️

this was a message to Jeremiah not to us. if you read the scriptures prior to this one and immediately following it is crystal clear this message is to Jeremiah.

@@TheRemnantwithBobandJenn thank you so much for taking the time to respond and explain. I wholeheartedly believe GOD wants to hear from us and it is a recurring theme through the BIBLE. I guess I am a little quick on the trigger because I get a righteous indignation when pastors twist the precious words of the BIBLE for their own personal gain. I am definitely not saying you are one of those, but they really target those that are hurting and make promises from GOD'S word by taking it out of context.
