✨ for those wondering they did air the pre-taped version. But it wasn't because of COVID. The dude that plays Roger broke his foot with less than 24 hours until showtime. There were no understudies. So they had to show the rehearsals instead of actually performing live as intended. Lesson learned... ALWAYS have understudies and ALWAYS perform full out. I remember Valentina was crying so hard at the end cuz she didn't have a chance to really do her performance as intended

I know I'm going to be one of the only people to say this, and I'll probably get flamed for it, but honestly this is my least favorite production of RENT. I've seen it live 9 times in different levels of theater, from national tours (including with Anthony and Adam) to community theater, as well as the movie and the filmed final show. There's just something about how they filmed this and the changes to a few of the lyrics that just bugs me. This setup and style worked much better for Jesus Christ Superstar, IMO. Some of the cast here were pretty good, but overall I just was left with a "meh" feeling. Brandon did ok, but I think his Judas was much better than his Collins. Vanessa has definitely improved since her Mimi at the Hollywood Bowl, which was a work in progress. Her Maureen is actually much better. In terms of the production and mix, from a technical standpoint, I agree with several others that the crowd is distracting and far too loud in the mix. I'm also no t a fan of the lighting, though the set is not too bad.

I thought I’d like this way more when it came out but was very disappointed. Even with this being the dress rehearsal they did do great for the circumstances. Just wouldn’t pick Tinashe to play MIMI

I didn’t like this version…they should have waited for or replaced the guy that was hurt so there could have been an actual live version instead of a recorded dress rehearsal and Valentina just was not the right choice for Angel…she can’t sing

WHY IS DIDDY IN THIS 💀

A noble try. But the vocals just weren’t there. The set costumes and blocking were different and fresh but this just seemed like the kidz bop version of the real thing. It seemed like the moments were rushed and they really didn’t understand the gravity of the words they are saying. At the time the musical ment so much to so many and this was just a devastating disappointment unfortunately.

I have never enjoyed Rent until I saw this one. I don't know what changed. Maturity, maybe? LOL. And this cast is amazing too.

The part about temper .. they keep going. The hug remains the part of an end right yet nothing less or more. The girl on the phone is symbolic of media interaction as well physical discomforts. The signings really great isn’t it when interacting with the family crew on stage. You don’t teach people how to sing they just do to a opposing gender.

Calling out a name! To spread the family name to the homeless sounds like a worthy goal. Behinds the scenes its a stage crew that’s radioactive ….music. I’m confusing this

I don’t mean to be critical, but I have seen rent several times and listen to the music more times than I can count, and these people just cannot project their voices any farther than 3 feet. I guess somebody said this was the dress rehearsal, but there’s no excuse for putting this online when there are so many other ones where people can actually sing the songs and project them out so people can hear them over the music.

Omg I did NOT expect the Roger, being just some country rock guy, to be this good, hahaha.

just found this in in 2024, thank you so much for uploading this, i have loved the movie for years and watches a few clips of the the show with NPH here in YT, didn't know there was this version, it was done so well and the movie OGs at the end surprised me, Jonathan Larson created something that's pure gold so sad he wasnt able to see its success but thank him for giving us this amazing gift, Rest in paradise Jonathan Larson

HOW is it possible that ALL of you completely missed the point Larson was making with this show? This is terrible. All involved should be ashamed. Pretentious wannabes that could NEVER when it comes to the original. This is by FAR the worst 'production' of RENT ever 'performed.'

The cast is so amazing. I bet the audience had the time of their lives there
