This video opens with a shot of a construction crane in dense fog: I immediately know it's Portland.

The Delines are VERY creative. There's an organic, working class drizzle of struggle that endures within their music that's seasoned with a fog of eclectic energy like in a Tom Robbins novel. Their sound, video and style accomplishes what 97% of most bands not only never do, but what they can't even recognize: IDENTITY. The Delines have created their unique identity, for example, by choosing the funky Portland St. Johns neighborhood over the trendy hoods like NW23rd, or downtown. These days on New Year's Eve, we elect to stay home. While my wife makes her pasta and goes to bed early, I go down rabbit holes looking to discover new bands in Europe, America, Africa, South America, Asia and so on. Early this evening, I was turned on to the Delines via text from a friend. Now I learn they reside in Portland, just about 50-miles from where we live. I am smitten.

had the immense pleasure of catching these guys earlier this year in Melbourne - saw them at the Odessa in Daylesford and then I took my partner along to see them the next day at the Northcote Social Club - their performances were stellar - fingers crossed they return to our shores................... go see them on yours
